Sam at LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER (who made the mult-Game Boy synth) has been working the past couple of months of setting up an old church pipe organ in his museum and hooking it up to midi players and keyboards. My gosh, this guy is full of epic content. If you like synth music and electronic experimentation, you're doing yourself an injustice not subbing to this guy. I also don't like the Patreon model of monthly subbing to channels but Sam's channel is the only one I've ever seriously considered throwing a few bucks at each month since he puts all of his finds and franken-inventions on display in a museum. It's a dream to be able to fly over to England some day and see the place. Channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/LOOKMUMNOCOMPUTER I know I've posted regarding Sam's channel both here and on at least one other thread, but he's spent the last year moving an old church organ, installing it in his museum and setting it up to run off of midi. Well, his latest video patched in LSDJ from a Midi cable and he's now playing an entire church organ from a Game Boy. He's also teased in former videos that he wants to "hook it up to the internet" so that there can be select times that people can upload MIDI files and can stream over the web their compositions. Considering the cross-over of gaming devices and the general love for music around here, I thought you'd guys would appreciate it.
Tanooki | 4,975
I'll link their pages, these are all gaming related and they aren't the usual suspects but more unique that they're not just stealing info from others YT pages to beg for money on there, or other services. These do research, present well, have thoughtful output that's actually worth wasting time on. Some of it is info you could google sure, but it's going to be a hunt, dry, and time consuming while the production values here show signs of uniqueness and care. The entire famicom library touched every day game by game per release: https://www.youtube.com/@RndStranger The 'works' guy obviously: https://www.youtube.com/@JeremyParish American in Japan covers gaming, related, manga, cultural stuff amazing content: https://www.youtube.com/@GTV-Japan Amusing british smartass covering gaming hot takes: https://www.youtube.com/@Larry Sega in title only, covers quite a lot on many things and well done: https://www.youtube.com/@SegaLordX Dude is a machine, 100% coverage/tips/bugs/exploits etc: https://www.youtube.com/@UCanBeatVideoGames Deeper dive into analyzing games using common tools: https://www.youtube.com/@Sharopolis Again obvious, it's the gaming historian: https://www.youtube.com/@GamingHistorian
RH | 5,062
Ugh, ok, I need you guys help. Yesterday I was flying out of Austin, TX from a business meeting. While in the airport and waiting for my flight, I decided to walk around. Towards the end of the terminal corridor I happened to see a very recognizable face from the retro gaming scene but I can NOT place who he was. I think he’s a YouTuber but there’s a chance he’s one of the guys who develops hardware and has been referenced in videos. If you guys could help me find out who he was by his description, I’d appreciate it. Anyway, like many of us he was greying, looked to be in his mid to late 40s, and he had a full beard that’s not super-long but not trimmed short. I’d say part of his signature look is that he has long black and greying hair, usually laying on his shoulders. No this isn’t MJR. This guys hair was longer and honestly looks like he lets it run free and simply hasn’t had it trimmed in 2-3 years. I don’t think he’s Pacific-Islander but he kind of gives those vibes. He was also more heavier rather than skinny but I wouldn’t call him grossly over weight. He was just “big”. I also think that Bob from RetroRGB from time to time has either referenced his work or linked one of this guys videos in some of his weekly updates, so there is that connection. Anyway, I’ve googled this and so can’t find him, but I know in the past 6-7 years I’be seen this guys face multiple times and if he has a YT channel, I’ve seen it once or twice. Anyone have any clue who this might be?

I thought I had a pretty good cursory knowledge of retro gaming YouTube channels, but I'm stumped on this one. [T-Pac]

David is in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, from what I recall.
RH | 5,062
I found him, by chance in my right-hand algorithm stream! Turns out the guy's not a retro gamer, but just a gamer and none other than the guy that took down Linus Tech Tips a notch or two a several months ago--Gamer Nexus. (https://www.youtube.com/@GamersNexus) So yes, I saw that guy in the Austin Airport. I knew I recognized him.
