phart010 | 1,708
I’m fed up with trying to find a good condition Ice Blue Gameboy Pocket for a reasonable price. I’ve decided I’m going to try and paint one. Does anyone happen to know the paint code for that particular metallic blue color? Also if anyone discovers any paint codes for gaming related items, you can post them here.

Funky_brewsta | 42
Take it to an auto body supply store. They have color maps and color chip books that will get you really close.

Might not be the cheapest route but will give you the best color match.
Link | 2,727
If you want metallic paint, car paint is probably the easiest type to find it. That said, car paint is very expensive (and also desireable) precisely because it has to be very durable.
Tanooki | 4,952
I'd agree with the color swatches at an auto body shop because this will be well beyond what home depot or some stand alone home paint shop would do. Metallic paints with shimmer are custom and outside custom would still be in that realm and that's found at auto body shops. 15 years ago I had a VW that had this candy coat deep blue that when the light hit it depending would shift almost slightly towards green or purple, so if anything can do crazy color matching it's auto body repair/paint shops. On that note I wish you had told me you were looking, or you looked when I had one posted last December (if you looked at that point) as I had one up and for under value. It was damn near cherry, sold it through ebay, to then find thankfully 2 weeks after refurn/return window was over I got harassed on the site from the buyer saying I sent him busted up stuff. He took that poor thing and looks like gave it to his kids to play skipping stones across a driveway with it. He could use your color codes too. RegularGuyGamer | 2,017
The only way I got one in good shape was to buy it CIB. I waited for well over a yearr and got lucky that it was bundled with a couple CIB games. I was able to sell off the games and keep the console. Seemed like the only way to actually get one that wasn't scuffed up. I'd love to see the results of a metallic paint job though.
