I'm sorry dude! I've dwelled amoungst them for too long. Theres a better chance a item will see a waste basket than a $1 off the asking price!

No offense taken. Gypsies suck...still, I have to do SOMETHING with these crystals and curses I prepared now.

  2. I’ve had about 10 Samson carts, and 4 CIBs go through my hands, And half as many Dino Peak carts and CIBs with the sole intention of them being trade fodder. This was over the course about 3 or 4 years. They’re the ultimate trade bait titles.

that was years ago though, but I’m ok with “hoarding” in that sense. I think the most I had at once of ANY title was 3...except for Skyward Sword Limited Editions. I bought them ALL 8 of them they had at target because they were on clearance and sold them to NA members who really wanted them and couldn’t find a copy locally. I can’t recall if I sold them at cost, or at MSRP BUT I don’t remember making a profit off them.

Set collecting seems to be on its way out, especially loose carts, but I think the damage has been done. So many people bought these as investments that most of them would rather let the games sit in storage than sell for a 'new normal' price. They'll hold on to their wares and talk about how rare it is and what they bought it for and why it'll go up soon. That's what gypsy's do when their wares lose value.

😞 Hey Man, ease up on the generalizations. I’m a Gypsy. Also don’t squeal my people’s secrets to the world!

I'd go along with that too.  Doesn't help that they suddenly downgraded your access from Admin to Moderator at what appears to be the same time.  Even if you'd already stepped down in any official capacity (which seems less likely, given that you're still showing mod status on the site as of this morning), the timing seems awfully suspect and potentially meant as a quiet statement on their part.

In their defense it makes total sense to do that to someone with that much control over the site especially considering that they now call a competitor home.

  5. Talk about being put on the spot, I'm ashamed I couldn't remember all 30 black boxes immediately...I forgot about:

    1985

    1. Golf
    2. Hogan's Alley
    3. Mach Rider
    4. Wild Gunman

    1988

    1. Donkey Kong Classics
    2. Super Team Games

    1989

    1. Cobra Triangle
    2. Dance Aerobics
    3. To The Earth

    1990

    1. Super Spike V'Ball (embarrassed about this one since I like this game)
    2. Super Spike V'Ball / World Cup Soccer (see above)

    1991

    1. NES Open Tournament Golf

I’d probably be more ok with starting to release newsletters as full scans (maybe some watermarking).  The tip sheets, less so given some are just normal paper, but certainly watermarking can help alleviate desires to counterfeit.

The best way to release them is to scan them personally into your computer (to digitally preserve) and then simply retype or even OCR everything and release JUST the content and none of the “layout”

If no one knows EXACTLY how it looks then no one can reproduce it.

  7. Here’s an idea:

Can we have a listing of “current live member streams” or something like that?

Maybe have it do it automagically somehow too?

Also, it’s be nice to have it as a “Picture in Picture” mode to prevent multiple tabs and allow us to watch while we browse

No worries man! I just wanna make sure people know about the features and don't limit themselves. 🙂

I plan on using the “Articles” feature to post my lists and then link them in the “Big List of Lists” thread.

Articles on Sachen, HES, Gluk, Codemasters, MicroGenius, Brazil, Cowboy, and Samurai India are ideas I’ve got going too.

  9. 90s JRPGs are better than 90s WRPGs.

Modern WRPGs are better than Modern JRPGs.

The last JRPG I remember loving for example, was Final Fantasy X. But the first WRPG I remember falling in love with was Elder Scrolls III.

  10. So many Gen 1 to pick from.

Aerodactyl, Dragonite, Kabutops, Scyther, Charizard, Lapras, Taurus, Golem, Machamp, Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, Pinser, Porygon, Onix, Tentacruel, Kangaskan, Gyrados, Arcticuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mewtwo, Magmar, Electabuzz, Rhydon, Alakazam.....Jesus I’m missing only a few of the 151.

If I had to pick one from Gen 1 it would be Alakazam.

Gen 2 is easy. Pikablu. Aka Marill

I've drank flavored sparkling water before, but never once seltzer. Is it basically the same thing minus the flavor?

I wouldn’t call seltzer “flavorless” since the brand I drink is extremely bubbly and those bubbles give it some kind of taste.

But, essentially yes. Seltzer is just magic bubble water.

Just don’t drink fancy “sparkling mineral water” like Perrier. To me they taste like metal.

That is the primary reason NA was purchased. So it's not lost per se, but it's probably not going to be around in the same form.

Is it really though? The NADB was really lackluster for anything beyond the 768 US NES games, and even there, the “Developers” on virtually every other title was wrong or randomized or something.

I feel the site was purchased just literally for the reputation and namesake alone and GoCollect just dragged their feet a little too long.

  13. Coffee w/ Cream & Sugar

    Tea w/ Milk & Honey

    Seltzer w/ Citrus or Berries

    Ice Water

Those are my go to drinks while gaming. Energy drinks are disgusting and should only be enjoyed in Vodka...and the only drink of choice should be Red Bull...maybe hold the Red Bull and just drink the vodka though.

  14. Honestly? Sealed SNES, and Rare Sealed NES are due for a bump (Think Samson, Dino Peak, Bonks, etc)

I think SNES fan favorites are undervalued and some of the greatest 2D games of all time are on the system.

The only reason I’m my opinion why it’s not popular already is because besides the Japanese vs Mexican print stuff, There just aren’t many “cool & easy to spot variants” to attract first print hunters.
