Make sure to update us regarding the quality of the gameplay. With boxart that good, it's gotta be amazing!

I used to never enjoy watching other people play games, but over the past year or two I've found myself spending quite a bit of time watching streamers on Twitch. I'm not exactly sure what the draw is. Sometimes I feel too tired to play anything, but I choose to watch Twitch instead of regular TV.

A couple of streamers I really like:

Arcus - Laid back dude with a cowboy hat and handlebar mustache. He is a NES-only speedrunner. He holds the extremely impressive world record for Ninja Gaiden. www.twitch.tv/arcus

Ryukahr - One of the handful of Mario streamers I watch. He plays Mario Maker 2 and different SMW hacks. He has a pretty large following on Youtube as well. I enjoy his videos on there. www.twitch.tv/ryukahr

BarbarousKing - He plays Mario Maker 2 in the morning through the afternoon and then something different in the evening. He's a d**ckhead to his chat, which I love. www.twitch.tv/barbarousking

Do any of you watch Twitch? Who are your favorite streamers?

I got into it after watching AGDQ and usually try to tune in for those big events. I also enjoy watching Arcus occasionally, but I've found streamers tend to get annoying after a bit. The more successful ones and others just chasing the dream seem to be constantly playing a character, which is not what I'm looking for. I've also just gotten busier with life and try to play games rather than watch them in the few spare minutes I get a day.

I occasionally stream Jackbox Party Pack on my Xbox so my family and friends can join us for a long distance game night and that's a blast. In fact, maybe I'll advertise it here next time so some community members can jump in.

  3. Ah, the constant struggle of being a parent who loves electronics but doesn't want a zombie child. We limit our 3 year old son to 0-30 minutes of screen time a day and he never demands the phone or tablet like I see other kids doing at the grocery store or restaurant. He also loves playing outside more than anything in the world. We spend our time together building stuff with Legos, racing cars, reading books, and wrestling.

Obviously these devices are everywhere and our children will need to know how to use them to function in society, but they don't need much time to adapt. They are far more facile and their brains have crazy plasticity compared to us adults. I do have to sacrifice my own screen time so that I don't come off as a hypocrite, but that's okay because I'll never get him back at this age again. We can play plenty of videogames and watch movies when he's older.

Eventually most kids will probably transition to several hours a day of screen time, but I think delaying that as long as possible is a good thing.

I don't collect sealed but I'm at least a little jelly of this bad boy. Such an amazing game.

Probably mislabeled. That game should have 2 specific posters plus a reg card right?

Sounds right to me. That's what I've always seen in CIB copies.

I noticed that too, I think it was copied and pasted with the background colour in the CSS.

So maybe I can just get rid of the background color by using a PC? I'll try that tonight since my work blocks this wonderful site.

  6. For some reason I'm getting a visual bug where my text in another thread has a white background in dark mode. It's not a huge deal, but it's jarring. The thread in question is at the link below. I'm using Chrome on Android 9 on a OnePlus 6T.  A screenshot is also below.

Does the non star manual also have the rear projector warning? I seriously think they just goofed with this. At the time they probably felt the manual was complete and there was nothing else left to add. Then came along the reprint and they were like "oh crap, we already used the *...uhhh.....just print it without I guess? Who's going to notice except a bunch of nerds 30 years from now on something called the internet"

I will have to check when I get a copy of the red 4 version. I put an offer on a new copy but haven't heard back yet. The picture of the No-Star Manual was from an auction on eBay. No idea why they put the first page of the manual in the pictures section, but people do some strange stuff.

  8. I think the 360/PS3/Wii U generation is pretty safe in terms of both playability and availability. Many games required patches, but generally a playable version of the game existed on the disc. LRG didn't exist and collector's editions were just getting popular so there aren't quite as many variations on titles as there are nowadays. This makes collecting for that generation of consoles somewhat boring, but also very doable.

The current generation and everything beyond will be a nightmare. I'm finally making the jump to all digital with the next set of consoles because of constant day 1 patches/downloads, the lack of actual content on the disc, and the joy it will bring me to never have to add to my physical collection if I don't want to.

No, I'm pretty sure the white 4 player game is first. You'll notice on the side of that box of NES Play Action Football the sales and warranty statement is now in an easier to see red bar. Nintendo stuck with this until the end of the system's life. Also the manuals now had that red "Need Help With Assistance?" memo on them. The changed happened sometime in '91. If you need further proof, check the dates on the inside of both NES Play Action Football games. The red logo game "should" have a later date.

Yeah that seems correct. I'll have to get my red 4 version to confirm everything. I did find a pic of the inside of the first page of the manual and it is different. It adds a disclaimer statement. The star manual has the rear projection warning at the back.

It's usually a couple bad apples that ruin it for everybody and jade nurses. I think people who work in pain management are more susceptible than floor nurses but it can happen to anyone. Now that I work in cath lab I usually only use fentanyl and versed for conscious sedation, the only time i use benadryl is for pre treatment for dye allergies or unexpected allergic reactions. I don't miss the floor except for working a couple 12 hour shifts a week.  For me it was really only that one patient and a few that already came in that were already opioid dependent that were difficult and even then it doesnt bother me until they start making demands and they start setting their alarms to wake up for their meds.

Yeah, I actually think pain is now under-treated due to the opioid backlash. Most people actually don't want to abuse medications. As you said, a few bad apples...

I've only got the two sizes. The 17L fits 40 DVDs perfectly or however many CDs the other way. It can hold 24 NES games but has a bit of wiggle room you might want to pad out.

So now we need to see if there are any oval seal * boxes with an ®. If so then the box code starts over when it switches to an ®.

The real question is whether SMB Oval SOQ TM has the star code and updated sales/warranty statement. Will have to do some investigating there.

Also I looked into the Play Action Football manual situation and I'm starting to think the red 4 version was actually the first print because it comes with a non-star manual (pics below). I always assumed the red 4 was the revision since it's so much clearer and seems like a better graphic, but I may have been wrong. I'll get a copy and look in the manual for any of the differences listed above. The box codes do not appear to indicate a revision (i.e. no -1 on either version).

Further complicating the matter is Championship Bowling, which apparently started with a blue 4-player symbol and transitioned to the red symbol. In this case, Nintendo did consider it a major revision and added a -1 to the box (tough to see on last pic but it's there; will update when I have a copy)

And for surgical/procedural areas as well... I feel your pain though. I had a patient on our cardiac floor at my last job and I saw that guy 5 times over the course of a 6 month stretch. I'm having chest pain, can you describe it to me and rate it on a scale from 0 to 10. It's always an 8 to 10 even though he's just laying there reading the paper. Well let's start with nitrostat, no that's okay how about that 4 mg of morphine ivp with some benadryl? Keep it coming every 4 hours too and yes I will be f#cking waiting for it rocking the call light at 5 minutes till it's due to remind you!

I had a patient in residency who had a chronic, somewhat debilitating medical condition and essentially lived in the hospital. She was a VIP for one of my bosses so she got whatever she wanted. Her favorite cocktail was something I dubbed the "slowball." It was a combo push of Dilaudid, Phenergan, and Benadryl. She got it about once per day and then faded into oblivion. That was about 8 years ago and a lot of miles away, so I don't know whatever happened to her. I suspect it did not end well.

At my current job, our patient population is pretty trustworthy and drug-seeking is a minor problem. Most of my surgical patients end up using just a small portion of their narcotics and returning the rest for disposal. I also previously worked in the Pacific Northwest and that place  is a shitshow for opioid abuse.

  14. I am definitely not a fan of the company. Besides StarCraft 2, I can't name a single Activision-Blizzard game I'm interested in and I find Call of Duty incredibly mundane. Maybe they have some smaller projects I would enjoy, but an uninteresting release lineup coupled with their money grab ethos does not make me a fan.
