Ive seen that method but that was only for the bowl. The slots on the gears where the stick goes through is what was worn on mine. It can be reapaired by building layers of epoxy and sanding it back to shape with a dremel. But its such a pain in the ass I was hoping these would help avoid that.
You’d think that with 3D printing technology somebody would just knock this out of the park and get it perfect. Maybe that’s what the Kitsch Bent pieces are an attempt at. What a crazy controller!
Have you seen the videos where they mod an N64 controller with a Game Cube joystick? I’ve read it’s very smooth but still not quite the same.

Thanks for posting. I was just looking at these pieces the other day and was curious how well they worked. I’d have to hunt for the YouTube video but I ended up fixing my original joysticks through a tedious but relatively successful process. It involves a hard epoxy to reinforce the old bowl. It’s not perfect but it made my loose controllers playable again and keeps the original hardware.

Just received some awesome Nintendo Powers and everything was great. Would gladly deal with him again. A+

Honestly if one was concerned for the safety factor as a collectible, just remove the battery. Half of collectors don’t even play the games, just eliminate the problem and make a note of it. That’s why all my carts that I intend to keep, I’ve modified with a removable battery holder soldered in. I usually only play my carts once a year anyway and beat the game, then I can just remove the battery when I’m done. I’m not one to stress over a “save file”. Just start over and enjoy the game again.

Regardless of the system or set, I could never see myself spending any amount on shovelware, so full set collecting has never been attractive to me. If I had to pick I'd go with original GameBoy. I like that system the best for the variety and collectibility. It's also small and wouldn't take up much space.

Playing more of what I already have and dabbling into some Nintendo Power issues. Also keeping an eye on those elusive personal “grails”.

Lenovo. If you can afford it go with a Yoga and solid state memory/SSD

Upgrading the original hardware to be HD compatible (ie, FrameMeister/RGB modded consoles and UltraHDMI N64) is keeping me pretty satisfied in this current period of technology. I enjoy original hardware and media but I also like to keep it simple, for example owning an original GameBoy and maybe a handful of various nostalgic systems and peripherals like the NES with zapper or original Sega Genesis CIBs. I like having the real deal but frankly I don’t miss lugging CRTs around and all sorts of composite cables and old tech junking up the place. Worst case scenario, with products like the NES/SNES classic, those games will be preserved in an acceptable format no matter what happens.

I accidentally stepped on and cracked my Little Samson cart last week.
just kidding. I take extra care of my stuff... still no whammies!

I had a Sqoon cart with some other commons that my cousin let me borrow when I was young. Of course I gave it all back to him after a couple years of playing it. I think he still has everything but I made sure to tell him to give me the cart if he ever gets rid of anything.

Pretty cool there, nice find!
