Ive seen that method but that was only for the bowl. The slots on the gears where the stick goes through is what was worn on mine. It can be reapaired by building layers of epoxy and sanding it back to shape with a dremel. But its such a pain in the ass I was hoping these would help avoid that.

You’d think that with 3D printing technology somebody would just knock this out of the park and get it perfect. Maybe that’s what the Kitsch Bent pieces are an attempt at. What a crazy controller!

Have you seen the videos where they mod an N64 controller with a Game Cube joystick? I’ve read it’s very smooth but still not quite the same.

  2. Thanks for posting. I was just looking at these pieces the other day and was curious how well they worked. I’d have to hunt for the YouTube video but I ended up fixing my original joysticks through a tedious but relatively successful process. It involves a hard epoxy to reinforce the old bowl.  It’s not perfect but it made my loose controllers playable again and keeps the original hardware.

  3. Honestly if one was concerned for the safety factor as a collectible, just remove the battery. Half of collectors don’t even play the games, just eliminate the problem and make a note of it. That’s why all my carts that I intend to keep, I’ve modified with a removable battery holder soldered in. I usually only play my carts once a year anyway and beat the game, then I can just remove the battery when I’m done. I’m not one to stress over a “save file”. Just start over and enjoy the game again.

  4. I’m looking for the following to add to my collection. Will pay competitive prices

    Nintendo Powers (want to buy):

    (Issue #1) - Super Mario Bros. 2

(Issue #28) - Super Mario World

(Issue #34) - Zelda: A Link to the Past

    (Issue #60) - Super Metroid

    (Issue #100) - 100 Best Games

    (SG #1) - Super Mario Bros. 3

Sqoon (NES) cart + manual (or CIB) - I’m looking for a nice copy, willing to pay top price if the condition is there.

shoot me a PM if you’re open to selling.

  5. Upgrading the original hardware to be HD compatible (ie, FrameMeister/RGB modded consoles and UltraHDMI N64) is keeping me pretty satisfied in this current period of technology. I enjoy original hardware and media but I also like to keep it simple, for example owning an original GameBoy and maybe a handful of various nostalgic systems  and peripherals like the NES with zapper or original Sega Genesis CIBs. I like having the real deal but frankly I don’t miss lugging CRTs around and all sorts of composite cables and old tech junking up the place. Worst case scenario, with products like the NES/SNES classic, those games will be preserved in an acceptable format no matter what happens.
