Great movie. I haven't watched it in a while, but I've seen it recently enough to know it still holds up well today. I prefer the action of the sequel to the horror of the original, but it's still a great movie.

You tried Hollow Knight?
Not yet, but I've heard of it.

I finished Aria of Sorrow for the first time earlier this week (never played it prior to this). I absolutely loved this game, and I think I enjoyed it more than Symphony of the Night. This game sucked me in right away and the minor improvements to the controls and inventory system over SOTN were very welcome. I also really enjoyed the soul system power ups. Obviously the graphics and music were not as good as SOTN, but that's to be expected with a GBA game compared to a PS1 game. I made it through most of the game without a guide, but I ended up using one towards the end to set myself up for the good ending.
SpoilerI accidentally died on the final boss. I had plenty of health potions, but I simply wasn't watching my health bar. I was super surprised to discover that you still "beat" the game if you die during the final boss fight and the ending is probably the coolest ending despite not being the "best" ending.
I've been on a Metroidvania kick lately, so I'm thinking about going back to Metroid Zero mission since I've never technically finished that game (made it to the space pirate ship twice).

It's weird because the image looked so familiar, but I've never played that game before.

Do you have a bunch of RCA switches going on there? I'd like to do this. I once had a setup where all sound on TV or computer went through the stereo speakers, it was cool.
Any system that connects with composite, s-video or component runs through an Extron matrix switcher which has 16 inputs and 8 outputs. For me this just happens to be 16 consoles which means my Extron is completely full on inputs, but I also only need one switch for consoles that don't use HD or coaxial. All other consoles run through HDMI except for my Atari 2600 and 5200 which I just run through coaxial.
I believe I cover most of it here, but there are also several Extron matrix switcher discussions around here somewhere. I would need to search for them to find them.

I say "poke-ee-MAN" just to annoy my kids. If I'm feeling inclusive, I will say "poke-ee-man & poke-ee-women."

I would love another sequel to Portal. But we all know Valve is allergic to trilogies.

Speaking of oversaturation, how about the Guitar Hero and Rock Band franchises? They were huge for a while, then all of the sudden, it was like a new game was getting released each week. It wasn't really that bad, but overnight everyone just seemed to stop caring.

I've never heard either of these songs.

Never heard of this one.

Gotta say, I never actually checked the price on that other one

The same splitter is used in Atari equipment too, and I found one on a site that caters to Atari computer users, but the one on ebay is the cheapest one I could find.
I wish I had seen those when I was looking for my s-video splitters for my Extron.

I would recommend spending the extra money to get one of these rather than getting a bunch of cheap ones from China

This is what I ordered. Should be here tomorrow. I need to see how many other flash carts I own use batteries.

The other day I watched Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The funny thing about this movie was that I didn't know a single thing about the story. All I knew was that it was a Quentin Tarantino movie with a huge cast and that it was well regarded. Somehow this movie had stayed completely off my radar until recently and I wanted to watch it simply because it was a Tarantino film. I went into it without ever even seeing the trailer for it so I have absolutely no idea what to expect. While the movie started out a little slow, I really enjoyed it and definitely recommend it for anyone who hasn't seen it.
SpoilerA little way into the movie I started to has a suspicion that the movie might be about the Manson murders, but I still didn't know what to expect. I was extremely thrown off during the climax of the film until it occurred to me that recently Tarantino seems to enjoy making films about historical events where the stories end completely different from real life.
Also, there is one scene where it's implied that Leonardo's character could have played Steve McQueen's character in The Great Escape. I was laughing out loud during this part, and this scene made me immediately want to rewatch The Great Escape. I ended up watching it the next night. That was a movie I hadn't watched in a very long time, but it holds up extremely well today.

It took me a second to realize what I was looing at. So the chroma and luma are split into two RCA connections, but those connectors are yellow and red? That's not confusing at all.......
I've seen s-video split into separate luma and chroma connections before. My Extron matrix switcher does that and I have splitter cables that I use, but since they are BNC connectors, they don't have any colors to them. I've never seen chroma and luma with yellow and red colors before.

I believe this is the last badge to request and then I will be caught up. I'm close to being able to request the Play Switch badge, but I've only completed around 20 games or so. That one will definitely go up over time, so I will request it once I reach 25.
The Action genre is pretty broad, but I consider these games to fall under the Action genre category, while also not falling under one of the other available genre categories.
PLAY - Genre: ActionPLAY - Genre: Action
Die Hard Trilogy Felony 11-79 Horizon Zero Dawn Ico Jurassic Park (SNES) Metal Gear Solid Metal Gear Solid 2 Metal Gear Solid 3 Metal Gear Solid 4 Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes Nuclear Strike Rime Shadow of the Colossus Shadow of the Colossus (Remake) Soviet Strike Super Metroid SuperHot VR The Last Guardian The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening (Remake) The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Tomb Raider Tomb Raider Anniversary Tomb Raider II Tomb Raider Legend Tomb Raider Underworld -
This is a very tough choice.
Also, where is Ninja Rap?

The Metroidvania games from Aria of Sorrow onward are generally better.
After finishing SOTN, I was reading about the other Metroidvania games and decided to give Aria of Sorrow a try. This game hooked me much quicker than SOTN and I'm really enjoying the small improvements made to the controls and inventory system. I played about 2 hours in my first evening. Unfortunately, the next day I went to boot it up and found that the battery in my GBA Everdrive had died and my game save was gone. I have a new battery on the way, and I guess I'm going to have to start over, but I fell in love with this game almost immediately.

I remember wanting a steering wheel and pedal set for the PS1 to play Gran Turismo. This was before force feedback wheels, and before they put any type of realistic feel into the gas and brake pedals. My brother and I split the price of a wheel and I was so disappointed in how it added absolutely zero fun to the driving experience. I sold it shortly after.
Luckily, today I have a decent racing wheel for the PS4 that actually feels realistic in the setup with the force feedback, and even in the feel of the gas, brake and clutch pedals. That setup actually makes games like Gran Turismo more fun and even easier to complete. Totally worth the money THIS time. I still need to add the shifter to my setup.
Edit:
Here is my old PS1 wheel hat I didn't like vs. my current setup for PS3/PS4.
(First pic is from Google. Second pick is mine)

I hate to say it, but playing Sonic 3 the other night just reminded me how much more I prefer Sonic 2 over 3.

I'm like moderately sure that it's not only a SNES game, but that I even used a pic of that creature in the rankings at some point. But I can't place it.
Failing that, it's something I've played in the last 2-3 years.
It looks so familiar to me as well, but I just can't place it. I'm probably going to be pretty mad when I find out what it is.

Definitely a good movie, and easy to recommend, but it's one of those movies that I'll probably never watch again.

The first two were easy.
The third one was a difficult pick. If you had used Bored for The Deftones song, I would have selected it, but out of the two songs listed, I slightly prefer The Beast and the Harlot.
The last one I hadn't heard of either and it was a coin flip, but the first song seemed slightly less annoying.

I haven't started yet, but I will probably have it done by next weekend.
I'm somewhat excited because this will be the first time in 18 years that I don't have to complete a Missouri tax return and I will have only one state return to complete (Illinois).

Both are great songs, but Crossroads got old for me after a while because it was played so often. Regulate has never gotten stale for me and I still listen to it semi regularly and it's on my driving playlist.
Game Debate #191: Sonic CD
in The Gauntlet
Posted
I think the game is just ok. I never played it as a kid since I never knew anyone who owned a Sega CD. Playing it now just makes me want to play Sonic 2 which is still my favorite Sonic game of all time. It's not a bad game by any means, but it just doesn't hold my attention the way the original Sonic games did.
