he just exaggerating how bad 4-6 frames of lag is?
If it's 30 frams a second and the input takes 6 frames to make an action on the screen, that's 166ms. That's an insane amount. 4 frames under that condition would be 130ms

How much in lag is 2.4ms is that like 1 second delay for every 10 minutes or something?
9.9-17.3ms though seems pretty bad.
How can i know where 'm landing at myself?
I think you're thinking of it as output lag thinking 1 second per 10 mins. The input lags don't compound the way an output lag would.
The untrained eye can't allegedly discern less than 20ms of lag. However, 100ms is .1 second which pretty noticeable. So somewhere between 20ms and 100ms is a pont where basically everyone will notice and the closer to 100ms you get, the more likely a goomba will kill you.
10ms is one hundredth of a second so it might look on paper like it's a lot but there's not way you can input 100 button presses per second. Breaking a second up into 100 pieces and having players be able to thread the needle into one of those slots isn't something most games will ever do. Even 20 Ms of lag takes of lag means it takes 1/50th of a second to go from the input to the action on screen which is objectively tiny.

also don't get the whole "bragging rights" reason that always seems to rear its ugly head; am I the only guy here who just wants to have a giagantic library of physical games to pull off the shelf and play?
Seeing this serval times in the thread, I don't think I've ever seen anyone in here beag about having a full set. Maybe something happens in the pursuit of the set where you get the 1000 cart stare and it's a total personal thing.

That console CIB should go for around $200 shipped.

I would love to go for a full set of 3DS games but the cornering of the market of completely useless and garbage titles makes it impossible. I still keep every game I find in the wild that I don't have as long as it's reasonably priced but those "halo" trash can titles really put a damper on the prospect of a full set.
I think generally, the idea of a full set for any modern console is just too daunting and muddy with all the bouquet releases. With the size of modern libraries, it's no wonder full sets aren't even on incoming collectors radars.

I gave it a quick 5 based on the description. It's not something I ever go out of my way to play. Honestly, I thought I would've enjoyed the metal slug games more when I got turned into them on the OG Xbox but I just never got into them. The whole run n gun genre is tough for me to really get invested in which is weird bc I like platformers and shoot em ups.

I wanna share but all my stuff isn't setup right now from moving.. and half of the gear is working the rest projects but here's some pictures
I love going to see bands and buying a record at the merch table so I have a lot of memories tied into these, as well as a good amount of thrifted vintage stuff.
Turntables: Toshiba SR-F451 (main), Technics SL-D1 (need new headshell, cartridge/stylus but in box!), Rega planar (1 I think) needs new motor likely
Receivers: pioneer sx 434 (needs to be serviced but my favorite), pioneer sx 680 (on loan from my dad), denon avr-4311ci
Speakers: baby advents that were refoamed and capped, foam came loose (lol) waiting for repair they sounded great. Some polk audio and acoustic research bookshelf, couple Bose models.
Need to up my speaker game but I have found most my gear at thrift stores over the years.
Pioneer gang
I got the SX 780 years ago and never let go. I actually saw one in somebody's garage this summer just hooked up as an extra but they wouldn't give me a price on it.

Last pickup post of 2023! Some good stuff came in recently
A couple CIB GBPs
Various games, a neat carrying case for Switch carts, and my first ever Pokemon distribution cart. I waited a while for Krazy Racers to come down in price a bit, and Doom and the distribution cart I got in a trade! Cooking Mama and Touch Detective 2&1/2 were bought brand new from Amazon and eBay respectively, those can still be picked up for nice prices.
More rewards from "My Nintendo"
Lots of Switch games
Sealed games, sealed Angora Rabbit plush which was a preorder bonus for Story of Seasons 3DS, sealed hard to find Squinkies 2 with the toys for DS.
A haul of NES stuff, with the first 3 games being sealed. I'm not planning to keep everything in this pic but I will be holding on to it for a while.
Sealed Raystorm, sealed EA Racing 3-pack, and CIB Steel Reign for PlayStation
My first Sega Dreamcast with a nice game I got for a decent price
and my first ever kiosk!
There were some more games that came in but nothing special, just some more Switch games. This is the good stuff!
Congratulations on the kiosk! That thing is a beaut! The peak Gameboy experience with a Pokemon elemental to boot. Great display piece.

Heck, they are providing this ROM for free so by all means, if you hate the game that much, don’t buy it. But I think for many people these games are a tradition and after some 15 years of Christmas titles, I can see why some might lack the polish of others.
I just want to point out here that most of the games are secondary to the cartridges blinking lights. The best one by a mile is 2019 Study Hall 2 and 2013 the space shooter. I never even figured out how to play crazy queen and actually skipped the Excitebike hack, this current release since I have the other pinball game and only picked up last year's bc it had the Grinch who's my all time favorite Christmas character.
I understand the negativity should be curbed but my man is clearly burnt to a crisp dominating the game and never wants to do it again. We've all been there. Trudging through a game, show, or book just to get to the end just to be disappointed at every turn. You hate to see it.
I am ever grateful for these tournaments and really wish I had a chance to participate. Some of these tournaments put me onto games I never played before and some made me never consider playing the game again. It seems like @BlackVegajust got the latter.

@a3quit4sa turtle shell? Idk what company it is but I'm interested.

Anyone know why this isn't playing on my powerpak? I keep getting an error message.

I got the sickest care package from Cincinnati I've ever seen. Some Mario wall clings, Skyline chili with the fixins and the most delicious chips I ever put into my mouth! Prinny 1&2 wasn't even on my radar and I'm loving it so far. I gotta say, the secret Santas on here nail game recommendations! I'm genuinely shocked at how every year someone nails my game tastes based on a short want list and my collection list.
Seriously though these chips are insane. A ton of spices, entire bits of sugar, MSG and a wave of heat. I never experienced anything like it in my life.
I think @Secret Santa was who I got as my secret Santa: @spacepup
Merry Christmas everyone!

I am 100% sure that BunnyBoy has a thread on NA looking at lag from TVs

I didn't need it to be disclosed. I think the AVS is great, but I did think the AVS (because of its architecture) would be better than an emulator running on my computer hooked up to my TV. In my experience it is about the same. At least in terms of lag.
Is that a monitor problem? Genuinely curious.

I think it straight up takes Switch carts and the new carts like the 3DS. No separate slot like the DS has. I honestly don't know what the gimmick will be. I believe it'll be a hybrid but idk how it is going to compete with the ROG Ally or even the Steam Deck in that space.
Oh and Zelda tokt at launch on the new system with exclusive dlc included.

I predicted this and tried my ass off to get a sealed copy back in 2015-2016. It took about 10 tries on Amazon listings before finally getting one that was a legit seal. I unintended consequences were that I had like 8 copies CIB that I been trimming down over the years. Now I'm down to 2 CIB and one sealed.

Does anyone go for full sets anymore?
in General Collecting Discussion
Posted
I think having a collection that large puts you in a spot where full set collecting makes less sense. It's easy to have a full NES collection when you only have 10-20 games for the other systems you like. But if you're going for 200-300 games per system, the full set logistics start to get squeezed.
The market has spoken though. The "killer" games for each console have only risen, some of which are best sellers. So not only are there a ton of those games in circulation but they're also expensive. Just goes to show that the avg buyer right now would rather have killer than filler since the filler game prices are largely stagnant.
