  1. At this point we know how Billy Mitchell cheated, that he's been lying about it for decades, and I don't think Guinness can change that. If anything this just hurts Guinness reputation even more.
  2. Awesome news! Would it be possible to migrate our old NintendoAge feedback to here as well? I am so sad I lost 267 positive feedback after all those years...
  3. I think that actually would be fine! I'd have no problem getting that hang tag off if I ever wanted to remove it(I've had to do it before.) Looks like this is the end! Isn't LimboFunk a VGS user around here? He was an old NA member forever.
  4. Probably came from some random flea market years ago in a large mystery box of PC gaming stuff. Just realized what it was! The discs are backed up to my computer currently. What is something like this worth? I'll probably keep it! I wonder where something like this should be dumped to online? Any MechWarrior 4 experts out there?
  5. Nick Morgan(burnambill) scammed users of NA and on other sites multiple times. He even got banned a 2nd permanent time selling fake Section Z inserts.(Dain bought one from him and realized he was selling fakes he made the whole time he had them posted on NA and other collecting sites.) He's had a repetitive history of scamming collectors with fakes and other related nefarious deeds. He didn't really show any remorse when called out either, he just made some rude comments and accepted the ban. I always wondered what happened to that label-less NWC gold...
  6. Anyone have a Gamecube Intec screen in the box? (Needs to work and have the charger as well.) Also looking for Mystical Ninja for N64 with the box?(Manual not needed, but maybe CIB depends on price.) Let me know how much I got Paypal ready!
  7. I've always been mostly self found so I've never broke the bank too hard(modern times don't allow for this too much anymore.) I've been very lucky in the past to knock stuff of my list like Little Samson for $65 shipped back in the early days of NA(that was what it was worth!), or finding a Starfox Super Weekend cart for $2.50 at Dimple Records. As for the most expensive single item? I'd guess slightly under 1K for either a specific proto or something like a minty DK Jr. Math/Chubby Cherub CIB.
  8. I've seen those crazy variant sets! 60+ copies of Super Mario Bros! When you reach the ladder with the Red Arremers up in Stage 6 there is one platform that has a ladder on the left side and a Red Arremer will actually be part of the top of the ladder and be invisible. When you reach the top of the ladder you'll immediately take damage and wake up the other Red Arremer. This is known as the "poison ladder glitch". There is a work around that involves climbing only partially up the ladder, then going back down to collect the earlier hidden armor, and then climbing back up. You will know you've done it right if the Ogre on that platform has turned into weird glitchy symbols and letters. (Careful cause he's still an enemy!)
  9. I definitely believe collecting is in the eye of the beholder. Just collect what you like and have fun reaching your own personal collecting goals! The odd thing with variants and game lists seems to be what definition everyone accepts as what makes it mandatory/valid to be included in a list or set. Hitting store shelves, being the first, title screens, having a seal, etc. There's not really an agreed upon rule. Maybe there shouldn't even be a rule, but it does make it trickier if you want a full list of what's all out there. I have a Ghosts N Goblins NES cart that has the poison ladder glitch in stage 6 in it. Most copies don't, so I suppose it's somewhat rarer than a normal one? Should that thing even be on a list? Does that game even need to be more unbeatable, lol? I mainly meant to point out most collecting apps/lists for a long time have usually had some common errors and they pretty much exclude almost all variants. They almost always have a few randomly thrown in and that's always made me raise an eyebrow.
  10. With the NA the database gone I can't say exactly, but it had a lot of errors in the Gameboy Color section and some others IIRC. As for game collecting apps/sites I run into the same copy pasted lists that have dupes, games with the PAL picture in the NTSC section, or weird empty slots with just the games name sometimes misspelled. Stuff like that. Things usually really get out of hand though when going over variants and what constitutes a variant. A good example is back in the day people would say that Stadium Events isn't a variant and it is part of a vanilla set. However there are many other games such as Capcom Mega Man 6 that fall into the same boat and somehow you don't have to own that one to have a set. Usually I run into the following statements: -It came first so you have to have it. (Capcom Mega Man 6 came first too.) -It's has an official seal. (So does Capcom Mega Man 6.) -Yahoo News/internet told me many years ago it was valuable and you gotta own one. (Ok they got me there, lol.) Personally I would say you just need to own a single "version" of each "game" to have a basic or vanilla set for any console set. Any version being the key statement. So you can own Punch-Out!! or Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! We could go over to someone's house if they owned one and say we played the game, "Punch-Out!!" and it would refer to either version. Most collecting apps/sites don't have both versions of Flying Dragon on the NES for example. It's almost always the Red version. Usually they just have just a handful of the most popular/well known variants listed in the main list, and exclude all the others. (They wouldn't even have a possible entry for Capcom Mega Man 6 for example.)
  11. My personal bane has been how innaccurate "full game" lists have been in the past(and many times still are.) Even reputable websites commonly are missing games, have the wrong games, or are putting variants in as part of a vanilla set. Even NA was a big offender of doing this.
  12. I haven't seen one of these trade hands for a while and was wondering what the going rate on a decent box or CIB would be? There are some on Ebay now, but they seem overpriced?
  13. I'd have no problem asking $1,200 to $1,500 for that countertop model with the games installed with it. (Also assuming the back cover panel to the countertop is still there) It's possible you could even get a bit more as that countertop model is quite uncommon.
  14. Made a really nice pick up down in Petaluma! Didn't expect to find this much stuff, and oddly a lot of rare PAL CIB NES stuff! Some of the oddball items are a NES toploader Game Genie that appears to be new in box. The weird chips & board in that mailer is Hoppin' Mad from... Mark Nolan!? The hats apparently came from a Sega Employee many years ago. Challenge of the Dragon and War 3010 are sealed! Also there was a huge box full of small box NES CIBs, but I know little about PAL stuff so I just went for Devil World since it was an exclusive that I wanted.
  15. I've lived through a lot of great gaming playing/collecting/hobby sites and they have all come to an end at some point. The old site PlayTheNES comes to mind. It was bound to happen to NintendoAge, and may one day may happen to VGS. I like to think it's not the site that matters, and that all of us coming together to share the enjoyment of an awesome hobby that matters in the end. There will always be another site for us as long as we still care about all these old games. I'm glad Dain gave us what he did, and it was an awesome ride. Heck, I even remember a time long, long ago where I was literally one of the only people I knew who collected games, and it was actually awkward to even bring it up when people would ask why I had so many games, lol. I can definitely say for certain this hobby is at it's best when it's shared by so many cool people.
