You have changed my life. I don't know how I could have been so foolish for so many years. I just went to the Apple store and signed up for a five year plan with the most expensive phone they had (over two thousand dollars!!!).
That from the very start is why they didn't appeal to me...why pay all that money for something with such a teeny screen and no proper keyboard/buttons/mouse, doesn't hold nearly as much data (like my external 8TB hard drive for example; I got lots of UK basketball games and TV series saved on it you see) and there's all those really confusing plans were you either stuck on a (usually) two year plan or pay more for that pay as you go stuff. It's just so much expense for what seemingly sounds like so much less than what you can do on a more traditional desktop computer.
Okay, okay, just suppose you can never go wrong with the newest iPhone...how then do you know which plan is the best? But seriously, what is there on an iPhone that I cannot do on this "Obamaphone" (or Bidenphone now?) that I now have?

Finally, the thought of being "on call" 24 hours a day with a phone in my hand or my pocket for the entire rest of my existence is literally the opposite of the kind of life I ever want to live...
Ain't that the truth! I'm very much the introvert type and I'm much more comfortable in a nice quiet cozy apt with kitty! Kitties are so purrfect for introverts as they are so very nice and quiet! Not all barking and growling like that silly other species...

No, you're not the only one, I'm still landline only. I love the reactions I get when I tell people I don't have a smartphone: they literally stare at me as if I'm some alien from a distant galaxy who just took off his mask...
You know, once upon a time having a cell and later smartphone was considered a luxury, a status symbol. Now, ironically, it seems more a luxury to be able to freely choose NOT to have/use one. I mean I don't even like taking my DS or 3DS out an about as I'm afraid I might lose or wreck it. I mean I have seen more than a few other peoples' phones with a big spider web cracks all over it and one little boy who banged his mom's tablet over and over until it got the BBOD (black blob of death; you get that on an LCD screen (even and especially the old fashioned kind) and your device is done for...period).

That is always good news to upgrade your stuff and improve your quality of life but seriously, what the hell did you get?? Some sort of an FBI certified phone that spies on you and checks every day if you don't talk sexually to minors and if you pay your taxes regularly??
Sure, Dale Gribble.

Yeah, but now your own cats can be on instagram! Or just take photos of your cats all day, either/or.
If that's the case, they're going to be bored to tears monitoring Estil.
"How many times a day is this guy going to make Pee-Wee Herman 'this is crack' references!?"
Well there were way too many people who needed to hear that message regarding the covid vaccines! Because indeed not getting that vaccine wasn't just wrong...
And I wish I did have cats, plural...but my mean apt won't let me have more than one :,(

I would never sign up for this around here. I see people in minivans with project boards and it just screams scam. If I ever find the picture on my phone, I'll share it.
Project boards?

TRAITOROUS POLTROON! (*feels betrayed*)
I now am likely the only person here with just a landline.
I'm still gonna mostly use that. The smartphone is just for things I cannot do on a regular desktop.

BTW, download the Instagram app, set it up, and search variations of #catsofinstagram
Thank me later.
I can do Instagram on desktop with a nice big (42") screen and a proper keyboard/mouse...no thanks.

Remember once upon a time you told me to join the 21st century and get a smartphone? Well it was just by chance a guy at my local Kroger was offering free "Obamaphones" (the kind where everything's free but you have to be on gov't assistance to qualify), so I went ahead and got one. It's PCD Bengal brand (official phone of the Cincinnati Bengals? ) so it's obviously nothing like those fancy iPhone 15-20 or however many they're up to now. Still, I don't really see any real difference. While I still wouldn't have much of a need for it as far as actually taking it with me and making calls with it, there are a few things only it and not my regular computer can do. For example some chat apps (for whatever reason) won't work on a regular desktop, some websites require confirmation via sending a 4-6 digit code via text message (that you can only do with a smartphone) and most important exclusive of all...the two Simon's Cat games!
So there you go @Tulpa, your favorite Video Game Sage member(?) has finally joined the 21st century. Merry Christmas.

That seems like a lot of work. Why don't you just have it ready to go, since you post it every ten minutes. Heck, throw it in your signature and call it a day!
Nah; my sig needs to let everyone know in no uncertain terms the difference between real and make believe (as Mister Rogers would stress). That just because something is called a "reality" show does not mean it's reality!

Just crank the difficulty up a notch if the game is to easy.
I'm usually perfectly content with normal mode. Hard mode is for those who've gone through the game at least a few times, and even that's only if you actually get anything in return for it like a better ending or better item drops or trophies or whatnot. Easy mode of course is for wusses!

You have that image saved to your desktop to whip out at a moment's notice, don't you?
Nope, just simple Google Image search my good man!

It's exactly this. The same people who say that they have no time to beat a 20 minute NES game legit will spend 100+ hours on a modern FPS or RPG. It has to do with not thinking that an old game is worth their time. Which is fine. We all have our own gaming preferences.
Well JRPGs (there are actually other kinds? Oh yeah those CRPGs or crap RPGs! ), even from the NES/SNES era can easily take 40-50 hours to fully complete, and some of the later ones it can take that long just to finish Story Mode (is that the proper name for a JRPG's main quest/ending, not counting sidequests?)!

That's a core game design aspect that changes gameplay completely. Has nothing to do with "quality of life"
I think that's more to do with the quality of the life of your controller so you're not throwing it and (trying) to break it in frustration. Not to mention you hopefully won't get caught by your mama swearing and cussing (perfect way to measure how hard or especially frustrating a game is!) nearly as often and thus you won't get nearly as many spankings or bars of soap in your mouth!
I'd say it has everything to do with quality of life!

Satoru Iwata said in an interview regarding how NES games were made: "Everyone involved in the production would spend all night playing it, and because they made games, they became good at them. So these expert gamers make the games, saying 'This is too easy'".
All in a day's work to make each game worthy of the Official Nintendo Seal of Quality.

I also think that it was an economic decision. there was a belief that a hard game would be perceived as having more value because you weren’t able to finish it as quickly.
Indeed, adjusted for inflation those then $50 new games are more like ~$100 in today's money.

I wish everyone put that much effort in to their lyric videos, haha.
Well of course they would! As the late Joe Diffie would say, they got cute girls that make them bigger than the Beatles! And speaking of love that takes them higher than the Eagles...
I can only imagine what a bald eagle would look like in person...

I might have posted this here before but I just love it when cat haters (or at least skeptics in my case) become cat lovers inside a few weeks or even a few days!

They recently made these neat karaoke versions!
For this one the lyrics' colors match the favorite color of the girl singing it!

On max difficulty, Chessmaster would take hours between moves. It's not that it's unbeatable, it's just that most people wouldn't want to spend a week or two playing one round of chess.
You know in the old days there was correspondence chess...

Young bobcats are really cute - also really vicious. He probably had a medical problem and was treated for it. Then they sprung him.
The key word is young. What makes cats so amazing is that they're still just as cute and do all the cute things even as adults! As opposed to some of that other species who doesn't stay cute little puppies for very long and then quickly become giant slobbering monsters!!
Well Tulpa, you got your wish. I joined the 21st century and got my own smartphone (it's just an Obamaphone though)

Yeah I wish people knew that in my college days! Our then new library was very open air design which meant that if someone's phone went off, you heard it everywhere! And before church service (I was more religious back then) they actually had to remind everyone to turn off their phones. At church!! Seriously people need to show some basic courtesy and respect! It's like Aretha Franklin says...
