  1. In Johnny Cash's Six White Horses song, if he had done verse in the beginning about Lincoln like in the other song, how might it go?  Maybe something like:

Some are north and some are south...some are west and some are east...

Once divided now united again...but then one guns you down...

Goodbye Abraham...a long black train come to take you home...

Goodbye Abe...they took you away before you sang your song...

  2. Here's what I can do instead of McDonalds...I can cook a pound of ground beef on my George Foreman grill with a half a bag of these...these are the BEST fries I've know of; both grocery and restaurant alike.  Plus my local grocery even sells Rally's fries!

I mean I have always loved McDonald's Double Quarter Pounder (cheese only; I can't stand burgers with goop all over them) but if they're gonna charge all this money and only give me half a box of fries with their stupid mean trick then I'll just have the above!  I get much more food this way and it's (probably) slightly cheaper!

When you say half mil, though, most are going to assume you mean half a million, not thousand. And yes, I know the latin etymology of mil.

Garfield had the bad luck if being one of the Gilded Age presidents (1877-1900) where things were relatively peaceful in North America and the presidents at that time kind of blur together. His term was also very short, second only to William Henry Harrison. Lincoln and Kennedy were presidents during  major events (Civil War and Cold War/Cuba/early Vietnam War) and had the whole Lincoln/Kennedy coincidence mystique, though if you look into most of those, they're not really coincidences.

"William Henry Harrison...I died in thirty days!" All because he didn't listen to his mother and wear his coat and hat and mittens during his inauguration and his speech...

500 is half of a thousand. It is not half of a million. You'd have to multiply it by another thousand to get there.

Yeah; McKinley got put on the half of a thousand, and Kennedy got put on the half of a dollar.  I kinda feel bad for Garfield though...nobody seems to care about his assassination.  Lincoln's and Kennedy's get all the attention.

I haven't seen any advertising this time around.  But it's back.  Been a week or two I think.  And it's just on the regular sandwich menu.  No signage either.

I see they're still doing that pinching the bottom of the fry box crap and thus you only get half a box of fries, even though all their ads and menus past and present show the boxes full and the fries standing tall and proud.  I'm actually almost next door to a McDonalds and I would've killed for this kind of chance back in the good ol' days of the 80s/90s when they had Super Size.  But I'm never going there if they insist on pulling this stunt.

I mean...is wanting and getting your money's worth too much to ask?

What guitarzombie said, and keep in mind the last three presidents to be assassinated were all at very close range, and McKinley was sixty years prior. It just wasn't on the radar that a long range rifle shot would take out a president.

You know how Kennedy was put on the half dollar right after he was killed?  Well McKinley for the same reason in 1928 was put on the "half mil" dollar bill!

If Hitler was elected today with the explicit call to mass murder all Jews in his campaign, would we say that Germany was innocent?

How many children women and men died during WW2 because of the ones that voted in Hitler.

You know that was not a truly free, fair, "for realises" election right?

I don't have any issue with Karl's, but I do have an issue with those that are very very intentionally deceptive - and the ones making you think someone is dead, are absolutely deceptive and inappropriate.

Exactly.  Focus on the ones that are really flagrant about it.  This isn't all that much different from Ebay's (very important!) rule regarding key word spamming.

Like what are you envisioning here? No !s allowed? No words in CAPS? A list of forbidden words like “destroys”? (as stupid as I think that one is in the clickbait usage) Is there a tally count with a threshold? How do you even begin to define this?

Nothing like that, just good ol' fashioned common sense judgement/discretion.  Perhaps something along the lines of Ebay's (very important!) rule regarding keyword spamming.  For example, these really annoying ones whose video title make it sound like a celeb is dead or dying when in fact they are totally alive and well.

I don't think he's pathetic at all.  I also don't think that was intentionally deceptive.  As it relates to his research on the issue, most of his prior discussions / analysis, were indeed around the graded market craze.

As for the big letters and shock face stuff, all the popular content creators do it and yea, it's a bit annoying and cringey, but it's just part of the game.  I wouldn't call any of them pathetic or completely disregard their content because of it.

I think YouTube should make some sort of rule/reporting feature if the title is clickbaitey...not take down the video mind you.  But reword the title in a non-deceptive way.  I honestly thought at first maybe the retro video game market in general has crashed (like now all of a sudden my retro NES/SNES cartridges are suddenly worth much less) but nope, it only means those stupid gimmick graded games.  I mean grading makes perfect sense for trading cards and coins (if for no other reason to ensure you get the real deal and that the card is not trimmed or compromised in someway) but for video games it's mostly a big gimmick, as seen in that video.

Yeah agreed, they really help extend a game sometimes and add some extra challenge. There is a site for retro stuff too: https://retroachievements.org

I've always thought that would be an amazing idea but then how do you come to an agreement as to what achievements/trophies should be for each game and for each task of that game?  I mean we can't very well have 5-10 different websites like this with 5-10 different trophy sets!  If this could be used in an Everdrive cartridge where it'd record what date/time you did each achievement that'd be real swell!  I like looking at my trophy lists on my PS3/PS4 and the dates I got them and it brings back memories ya know?

There are a lot of things about modern consoles that I enjoy.

    • Wireless controllers.  Whatever controller I'm currently using just sits on my end table ready to go for the next round with no cables running across the floor while I'm not playing.  (I don't care about cables when I'm playing)
    • Being able to turn the system on from the couch without touching the system.
    • The general concept of "auto-save" is a great feature
    • I'm not ready to give up my original consoles, but the fact that more and more retro stuff is available to play on modern consoles is great

Of course, there is also a long list of things I don't like about modern consoles.  I'm certainly not ready to give up the old stuff yet, but I get enough enjoyment out of modern consoles to acknowledge they belong in my setup.

You forgot the most important part, the trophies!  I don't know if I would've bothered nearly as much with PS3/PS4 without them; after all there's more than enough PS1/PS2 to get caught up on!

Not saying you have to go out and spend all your money on PS5 shit. Just that it's pretty ignorant to say you're being forced to buy it for only one game when there's probably more than a few you'd like. You make black and white statements, you're going to get joked on.

I'm not "forced" to do anything...I'm just saying the investment on a PS5 just doesn't seem worth it right now for my purposes.  I got all kinds of other stuff I wanna do first.

PS: I meant go ahead and let me have it on the stamp collecting part.
