I was gonna say something about how monitors and TVs are basically the same now that we have HDMI on graphics cards. What’s the biggest size you would feel comfortable sitting at a desk with? 32”? 36”?

Are you gonna go for 8K eventually or is it diminishing returns at that point?

I wouldn't seek out 8K, it will likely just be part of the TV standard features eventually.

I would say what size is best at a desk also depends on if the screen is flat or curve.  I have a flat one and there times where I notice it makes things look weird/difficult to use.  Also becomes an issue when I'm sitting at a skew to the TV.  But I do have a 42" TV and would get it again.  My partner has a 55" Odyssey Ark and she loves it.  Because it's curved it's much easier to use.  Fucker is heavy as shit and a pain to setup.  I legit couldn't put it together by myself but I've setup a 60" without help before.

  2. I rotate out a monitor every 3-4 years and I run a 2 monitor setup.  I just replaced one a year ago.  Usually it's for the reason of getting a benefit/feature.  I remember upgrading to have an HDMI port so I could use it for gaming too.  Then from 60hz to 144hz (Christmas gift I didn't ask for but appreciated).   Last one was for going to 4K, 120Hz, and OLED.  I REALLY wanted a 120Hz OLED screen to play PS5 and I had just built a powerhouse gaming rig that could game in 4K so allowed my self the excuse to buy a small OLED TV to be used as my main monitor.  Actually now that I think about it I 98% of the time only use the one monitor.  I can do two monitors but I only do that if I stream.

2 days ago? Will there be more that you'll need to collect or is that definitely the last one?

PSVR platform doesn't lend to porting of games but PSVR2 does.  This is why I think PSVR will die quickly.  I'll keep a close eye on Limit Run Games and Prep Games as they are the ones who may still support the console because of a digital only getting a physical release.  But yeah, I think Retribution will be the last "new" game with a physical PSVR release.

  4. First off, I've complete my full set of PSVR games.  I'll closely monitor publishers but I think the console is dead given that the PSVR2 is about to hit 1 year anniversary, and the fact that you can't easily port PSVR games to any other VR headset.  PSVR2 are much easier to port to or port from.  This is why I think PSVR will die a quick death.

So with that onto PSVR2 collecting!  I got some custom protective lenses for the PSVR2 headset and two more games..

I guess the city council of Farmington Hills is voting to demolish Marvin's 3M for a Mejier grocery store. To me this is a rediculous move for the city and we would be losing a wonderful place. I really wish I knew about the hearing, I would have went yesterday being that I work very close to Farmington Hills.

Farmington Hills City Council, I would consider writting them a civil letter asking them to reconsider:

I know when Departments of Transportation (DOTs) use eminent domain to buy someone's property/business, they have to pay for the land/building, pay for the expense to find a new location to move, and also pay for the move.  Basically do everything possible to do the right thing to make sure no extra expense is occurred from being forced to move.  Not to say that I agree with eminent domain use for private business to get what they want.

I can’t imagine that RV is real.  It’d be impossible to drive anywhere.  There’s a reason why when you approach and overpass the height is often stamped on it. And even if you avoided interstates (lol, like anyone who could afford that would want to do that anyway) power lines would still prevent you from getting around.

I saw shit like this in Iraq.....they didn't have many bridges going over top roads once you left the major city like Baghdad. Bridges only cross streams.

I got to say, I don't think that it is. Definitely not for Microsoft. They're gaming side is a fraction of their overall numbers. Their positioning in the AI space and the cloud is all investors care about. Maybe Sony, but their movie and music business dwarfs any profit from console sales.

Nintendo is the only company that owns their console and has it run their business.

From an investment standpoint, who lives and die by the console gaming scene are developers and all the most successful ones figured out all the money is in whale fishing on mobile games.

Nintendo cares about it's profits because it's the only thing they do.  But Xbox and Sony stockholders don't care about the BILLIONS of dollars in profits because other sectors of company make money too????  You bet your ass if Xbox didn't make any profit they'd pull the plug on it so fucking fast due to shareholders not wanting to LOSE money to a sector of the business that doesn't make them money.  Please tell me what publicly traded company is fine with a sector of the company not making a profit and just lets it be.  Companies will ditch sectors because they DON'T make a big enough profit let alone go in the red.  I think you way under estimate how bad shareholders are with their investments making a profit consistently and with a large rate of return.

    Source

Also you'll see they devote a similar amount of space for AI as they do Gaming in their last annual report for investors.  Seems like Microsoft thinks their investors will care about their gaming sector.  Now when it come to just data storing and cloud services you can see that is where their biggest attention is based on how much they cover it over multiple sections.

Yes, nothing says November like turkeys. It's what I always think of.

I makes me so happy that a site "owned" by a Canadian has a turkey theme for November.  But it may be very cool to have some international themes represented.  Not trying to be Google with a new logo for every day.  But if you got some suggestions I think it's worth while suggesting them.

    @T-Pac What he said, haha.

And that all is beside the fact that, from everything I've seen and every interaction I've had with you both publicly and privately over the years, you seem to me like an extremely kind, down to earth, humble person, even outside of how insanely talented you are. Even beyond just your talent and skill as an artist, you seem like a very good person in general.

While I obviously agree it makes no sense to dismiss modern games, this statement is just absurd to me.

Do you truly believe that all (or *any*) types of art/media generally just improves with time? I've never seen any evidence of that for any sort of creative output. There are so many factors (commercially especially) that are bound to affect art negatively over time, that you could never reliably make such an assumption.

Given that video games are relatively new medium I have no problem saying it is generally  improving with time.  I'm not saying older games are dog shit, but to make improvements is human nature.  Also what is valued in art will change with time too because human culture isn't stagnant.  I put story telling and immersion as very high tiered qualities in games.  So for my perspective this is a no brainer that video games get better with time in general.  And don't think immersion is a fancy word for graphics.  I value the same thing in my books I read and too.  In fact I generally prefer books without any visual artwork so I can draw my own image.  Or I should say I let the author provide the details that I then draw in my mind.

What do you value in video games that has peaked?  I mean since games aren't improving you are implying that they have peaked.

    Hi all,

I heard about this site on a game collecting podcast and decided to check it out. My collection is not terribly large or unique; the most valuable items are things I've held onto since I was a kid.

My favorite console is the NES; it's what I grew up on. Even today it's the system I go back to the most. The games are timeless.

    As far as collecting goes:

    • I'm casually working towards a full US Dreamcast set. Sitting at around 90 games at the moment.
    • I collect the Dead or Alive franchise: games, posters, magazines and such. Though I have sold off a couple of the newer, big-box collector's editions. I'm not into the new characters. The series peaked with DOA 3 for me.
    • The most valuable thing in my collection is the big box Earthbound I got at Babbages as a kid
    • My favorite item in my collection is the Kasumi blue Dead or Alive Ultimate special edition Xbox. I imported this back in 2004 during my college days.

Looking forward to learning more about the hobby from everyone here.

    Cheers.

Dude you guys haven’t even been the worst team in the state in 25 years.  We hold significant records in this arena thank you very much.  It wasn’t that long ago Hugh Jackson.

OK, I remember the 90's and we were the worst that decade.  2000's weren't that great either but Cleveland had it worst.  So yeah, Ohio needs that Super Bowl W.  Bengals will win it for all of Ohio 😉

Wasn't this core team just in the Super Bowl two years ago? 😆

Bengals are forever an underdog until they win the Super Bowl.  And when they DID go to the Super Bowl everyone had called them an underdog ever since their first playoff win that post season.  When you  have been a "losing" team for as long as the Bengals have been, it's hard to not feel like an underdog.  Our record so far is 4-3, I'd say that is an underdog team to be going after a Super Bowl ring.  I think people forget where were the worst team of the decade not too long ago.
