What kind of manga/anime are you two into?

We watch a lot of slice of life/comedy stuff together. Yuru Camp, New Game!!, Fruits Basket are some recent watches.  We did some more action oriented as well.  My Hero Academia, Darling in the Franxx, etc.

She watches almost anything it seems but I tend to keep it light.

Been keeping an eye out for Nenderoids, Mugs, Figures as they come up.  Those figures are expensive so it's nice to grab something a bit cheaper.  Sometimes it crosses over to games nicely.  We got the Pyra/Mythra figures from Xenoblade and they are awesome.

  2. I put in a good 5 hours or so.  It's a fun game with some nice golf mechanics.  Something about it just couldn't keep me after a couple courses.  I remember it being an early switch title and it was exciting to see what new stuff was on the eShop.  I probably just got distracted.

I did pick up the limited run release.  Will give it another go one day.

  3. I picked some accessible books below, but I wouldn't be surprised if they have been read.  Also some fiction would be cool if there are any series that interest people. So far a short list is below.  Feel free to add some suggestions and maybe we can get a poll going.

    Console Wars

Extra Lives: Why Video Games Matter

Super Mario: How Nintendo Conquered America

I flew from Minneapolis to Tokyo in March and took Mario Odyssey, Hollow Knight and Undertale. Pretty much only played Mario.

I have a feeling I would be in the same boat. Mario is amazing and I haven't touched it since my first playthrough at launch.  Plus I plan on buying Pokemon in Japan so that might be my game for the trip back.

  5. In addition to my game backlog I have a backlog of books I want to read.  Many of which are video game related or similarly themed.  There has been plenty of great stuff written like console wars, legend of localization, as well as tons of fiction based on different series (Ready Player One, etc).  I've been meaning to get to it all but need a little motivation.

This got me thinking others might be in the same boat.  Is anyone interested in a Video Game Sage Book Club of sorts?  Perhaps we pick a title once a month to read through and discuss in its own thread after a couple weeks.  Details could be sorted out along the way.

If this interests you or you have any ideas let me know.  If we have enough interest maybe we can get a thread going for November.

  6. My girlfriend and I are starting to accumulated a decent amount of manga.  We also get a bluray or two each anime season.  Figures have crept in and now we have a decent start to that collection.

I've recently settled on anime/video game coffee mugs.

Also, I like to get VGM records as I come accross them. I admit it's been a while for that.

  7. I don't play them myself but always enjoy the showcase/races at GDQ events.  It's so cool watching skilled players get through the stages.

The closest I have gotten is playing the Mario Maker levels from a couple GDQs. The girlfriend and I had a lot of fun seeing who could get the better times.

  8. I'm heading to Japan for the first time in November and bringing my switch.  This is going to be a great time to get some gaming in.  A couple hour layover and a 14 hour flight should leave just about any game on the table.  My plan is to only bring 3 carts with me, since I don't want to carry a bunch of lose carts.  So far I am leaning towards BOTW, Mario Odyssey, and Hollow Knight.  This should leave a nice balance of pick up and play as well as long gaming sessions.

Putting the packing list together got me thinking about what others would bring.  If you could only carry 3 titles from your collection for a couple week trip what would you bring?
