  1. I watch some CSGO majors.  It's disappointing that a lot of streamer got blocked from doing their own broadcasts.  I usually just watched Warowls stream when he would cast majors.

Outside of that I watch speedrun stuff so GDQs are a big event in this household.  We watch as much as possible the whole week and make plans to sit in the couch the whole weekend.

  2. I've been less and less inclined to buy games physically for the disc based consoles.  The install times are so slow and all the updates required makes to disc feel kind of pointless anyhow.

If it's cross platform I'll aim for PC or Game Pass.

  3. I played through Minit on Xbox game pass this evening.  Really cool puzzle adventure game.  Each life is 60 seconds as you traverse accross the map to complete your quest. Puzzles and light combat throughout.  Almost like a very shortened Zelda experience.  Only took about 2 hours to best.  Well worth it for the gameplay and soundtrack.

The Outer Worlds 12hrs in so far

How are you liking it? After New Vegas I have high hopes for this title.

I'm playing Minit and trying out ZombiU. Minit is fantastic. ZombiU might get out down pretty quickly.  Very gimmicky with the gamepad stuff.

@Br81zad I like the purple and teal - looks nice! I've been having fun with my Sage design, so I made a run-cycle to go along with it. Can anyone confirm if the GIF is playing on your browsers?

    VGS Sage Run Cycle.gif

That's awesome.  If my browser ran slower on this site I would ask for that to show up during loading screens.

Have you planned out where you will be heading once in Japan?

Kyoto, Hiroshima, Tokyo, and a few other smaller cities.  The goal is to have 2-3 days in each city.  We are hoping our rail passes can get us around fst enough so we aren't burning too much time with travel.

  7. I'm buying more from them lately.  Bloodstained and the new Yooka Laylee were both bought through them.  Cyberpunk will be as well.  I'm probably going to start holding off on some titles until they hit GOG.  It may take a few years but I have a backlog and the sales are worth it.

Gog Galaxy 2.0 is great.  It's the best PC launcher I have used.  It's actually a game launcher instead of a storefront that happens to launch games too.  Sleek and intuative.

  8. The Elder Scrolls III Morrowind for me.  I played a lot of N64 and enjoyed exploring the levels in GoldenEye, Ocarina of Time, and Super Mario 64.  Once I played the Elder Scrolls I was hooked.  So many hours were spent just walking around that island exploring everything. Great world, lore, exploration, and music.

I would log a ton of hours, finish a few quests, then realize a small tweak that would improve my leveling.  I must have restarted that game at least 3 times before actually trying the main quest.  Never got tired it.

Bond is my favorite 64 game to be sure.  It's a little rough around the edges compared to modern shooters but still super fun.  I actually got rid of my 64 this year to focus on NES.  This was the only game that was really holding me back so I couldn't justify keeping it all.  N64 is pretty much a Goldeneye machine for me.  Such good times playing 4 player death matches on a 19" tv in a tiny smoke filled apartment drinking cases of Natty Ice.  So fun, I can taste it now.

GoldenEye really is a great game.  Sometimes I hear people criticize the controls etc now.  I still think it holds up.  Just play it like an N64 game and you will be in for a good time.

    • Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (Switch)

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has an amazing soundtrack.  I ended up importing the Japanese CD since the US only got a sampler disc.

I'll also add Final Fantasy X.  The soundtrack to that one is fantastic with lots of memorable tunes.  I'm a few hours into a playthrough of the HD version and am listening to the arranged soundtrack.  Original is preferred but both are a good listen.

Morrowind is mostly ambient kind of stuff but there are a few songs that stand out.  I still get them stuck in my head from time to time all these years later.

  11. I just finished Castlevania Harmony of Dissonance. Overall I liked it.  The castle was interesting to explore and I hit about 190%.  The music was just ok.  The bosses all felt like pushovers.  It was really easy just to spam holy water and magic.

After getting the bad ending I just looked up the item locations to get the good ending. I just can't bother to spend a couple hours seeking out a handful of relics.

Don't see me returning to it but I would still recommended it a Castlevania fan.

How close to video games do you want to keep it?

There are a ton of good sci-fi books that deal with video game-like themes (universes like Ready Player One) but aren't strictly about a particular game or games.

Wasn't sure how much you wanted to keep it specifically to video games.

Keeping it more open would be great.  Like you said there is tons of great stuff like Ready Player One. My concern is if it is purely video games we would all get burnt out reading history books or something. Adding some fiction whether direct from a game series or following the same themes seems like it would offer some nice variety.

If I have time tonight I may see about forming a Club for this.

Super Mario could be interesting. I've read the other two, but I'm not opposed to reading again. Maybe we wait to see if we can get some more people involved with suggestions? I'll take a look on Amazon to see if I can find some more ideas.

I'm absolutely for seeing what other suggestions we can get before committing.  Thanks for taking a look at Amazon.  I'm going to dig into it a bit more this evening.
