  1. I have seen some differently textured cases like that ( legit I mean ). Maybe the tab was removed like a soda/beer can tab, just moved it back and forth till the plastic wore down, I've seen a lot of these exactly the same as well. I tried to track down my copy of Altered Beast to compare, but I couldn't find it ( I did find some extra copies of stuff I didn't know I had tho).
  2. Bomberman Hero completed. Odd game, but not bad. I remember 100%'ing this as a kid. Some of the bosses are a real PITA almost on par with getting S-ranks in Mischief Makers, so just a normal clear this go 'round. Bomberman gets a kiss and a medal from the princess while the bombermen ( bomber people, idk ) cheer. I think we can get to 303 by year's end, but it's going to be a rough landing lol. The almighty emulator has let me down a bit, Blue Brothers 2000's bosses run at double speed or something, which isn't a problem for the first one since you can tank him, but on the 2nd level there's an alligator that one-hit KOs you, making it impossible without cheats. So I'll have to bust out the actual cart on that one.
  3. Grandia Xtreme's voice acting is pretty bad. I thought it was going to be a primarily gameplay-based dungeon crawler for whatever reason, but it's fairly dialogue/story heavy as well.
  4. Carmageddone 64 Probably don't need to go on about this one too much. Yeah, it's bad. That said, at least it's not very difficult to complete.
  5. Space Invaders 64 done. Kept the arcade space shooters going. I'm worse at Space Invaders than I am at Asteroids, but I got this one in about 3-4 attempts as well. Features a somewhat interesting puzzle-like mechanic where you shoot 4 like ships to get a power-up shot and has bosses at the end of each planet. Otherwise, it's a pretty standard update of the arcade game. But yeah, once again not much to it, 46 mins. EDIT: Looks like there are 2 more planets if you play on expert so went ahead and ran through that so now things are officially 100%.
  6. Mystical Ninja Goemon Zero ( the canceled Working Designs localization of the original PS2 game ). I'm only 2 dungeons in, but so far it's pretty good. I was kind of prepared for the worst given the history of the game, but if you're a fan of Mystical Ninja for the N64, it's essentially more of the same ( wish they had retained the original character designs and humor though ). On the plus side, they added in more RPG elements like the leveling system, equipment, magic, etc, so at least something was gained in the trade-off. Props to the Hidden Palace people and others who made it possible. Mystical Ninja Goemon Zero (Aug 26, 2005 prototype) - Hidden Palace
  7. Asteroids Hyper 64 completed I'm terrible at Asteroids but managed this one on the third try. Not much more than about an hour's worth of gameplay, so if you bought this instead of renting back in the day, you kinda got hosed even if it was a budget title. Mainly used this one to break up some of the other N64 games in my queue.
  8. Shadows of the Empire down I can understand why you'd quit this one lol. The bosses are super cheap and tbh I'm not sure if it's possible to beat them without cheesing them as they've got attacks that can eat through all of your health in a second or two. I did use save states in a limited capacity to practice ( or at least find the "weakness" of ) the two hardest bosses, Boba Fett + Slave 1 and the Gladiator Droid / Final Boss. So slightly cheaty maybe, but imo their cheapness warrants it ( I did go back and beat the stages in a single run and am pretty sure I could do a no-death run at this point ). After finishing the game, I don't hate it. The gameplay gets switched up enough so that even if you hate a certain element, you know you're not likely to have to deal with it too much. The controls and "aim lock" are super janky ( your aim, if you manage to get it to lock onto an enemy, hits at a maybe 10% rate ). You would think the jetpack would be the most nightmarish element when the running/jumping/shooting are so janky, but somehow it's pretty fun/intuitive. The dark/grittier take on Star Wars is okay, I guess, but the main character and villain are lame. On now to Mission: Impossible.
  9. Goemon's Great Adventure completed ( sans the post-ending stuff ). Fun game. I really like the dynamic of random quests / minigames in the towns mixed with the action platforming. I'm going to have to check out some of the fan translations of the PS1 games and it also looks like the WD PS2 game leaked as well.
  10. The Sonic Triple Trouble 16-bit fan game. Very good. Sega should've just published/released it officially.
  11. Sell sell sell lol I think if we can get these knocked out it won't be too bad: Aidyn Chronicles Body Harvest Daikatana Earthworm Jim Hexen Jet FOrce Gemini Shadow Man Starshot Space Circus Fever A mix of either jank, long games, confusing games, or a combination of the 3.
  12. All prices have shipping included ( ships via USPS 1st Class Mail or Priority Mail ). Splatterhouse 2 (JP Mega Drive) ( Cart is good, I don't see any issues, Manual has some creasing, Box and Insert are good. ) Tested + Working. $170 Rodea Sky Soldier 3DS New/Sealed - $28 Other previous wares listed sold elsewhere. Splatterhouse 2 pics: Imgur: The magic of the Internet
  13. Mega Man 64 completed. Legends on the PlayStation is the recommended way to play this, but it's okay on the N64 outside of the very muffled voices during cutscenes. Anyway, great game. The graphics and pretty much everything else outside of the controls/combat ( I don't mind tank controls though tbh ) have held up incredibly well. Dialogue for the NPCs gets updated after every event in the game. Hopefully, Legends 1-2 get an HD rerelease at some point.
  14. Snowboard Kids 1 is completed, mostly. I beat all of the main races and got the credits to roll, just have to go back and do some of the side games ( 2 of the Shoot Cross tracks ) to 100% it. I like this game, but it's quite a bit more rng heavy than 2 as you don't have as many options defensively, and so the last 2-3 races really come down to being crapshoots. For the last track, they make you race a character (Shinobin) who goes invisible whenever he's attacked ( there's a limit to it at least; he doesn't do it 100% of the time, and I think he only really gets it once per lap ). If this wasn't enough, they also make you do 9 laps instead of the usual 2-3. Granted, it's a super short track, but it still sucks to run a perfect race for 9 laps and then get hit with bad luck ( which if you're in first is going to happen more often than not due to the rubber banding elements of the item %s ). Also playing through Milo's Astro Lanes. I beat the really annoying "bonus" / trick shot levels about a month ago and just never really bothered to finish it, but I will get around to it probably over the weekend. Outside of the weird aesthetic, this game doesn't have much going for it.
  15. Snowboard Kids 2 is done. All boards/characters unlocked. The bosses on Expert mode are some real SOBs. I'm not sure if the last boss is even beatable without cheesing him by using the "Ninja" board ( a board that gives you invisibility the entire race ). Great game, it's too bad this series didn't continue ( well, I guess it did kinda with the DS game, but looking at footage of that it's one of those "look how they massacred my boy" type things lol ).
  16. Battle Tanx and Battle Tanx: Global Assault down ( I'll try to add the pic from the first one in a bit ). Decent games, I remember playing the multiplayer quite a bit. These seem to have held up better than something like Twisted Metal 1-4.
  17. Welp, that was Rakuga Kids. Not sure if the emulator was being weird or something, but it felt a bit sluggish. The music was playing fine though so I'm inclined to believe that's just how it is. I was expecting maybe something like Power Stone or Smash Bros. gameplay-wise ( something maybe more gimmicky / projectile-based, idk ), but outside of the very nice graphics/animation it's a pretty simple/standard fighting game. EDIT: As a bit of an aside, I'd probably advocate for adding Bangaioh and Sin & Punishment to the list.
  18. Robotron down. Normal difficulty. Had a failed run where I got to level 180-something, feels bad, and I forgot about the ability to fire 2 directions simultaneously since I was using the 2nd analog stick initially. Wish it had some more bosses ( there's only 1 and then a reskin ) and a bit more variety, but still not bad.
  19. Hybrid Heaven is finished. I didn't feel like sitting through the ending again so I just got a pic from near the start of the ending ( spoilers I guess ). I knew this one started slow, but I thought it would start to pick up at some point and that just never really happened. The combat system is kind of interesting, but there's little actual strategy/challenge ( can't say being able to powerbomb robots and weird pigman creatures wasn't entertaining though ).
  20. Settled on Hybrid Heaven. Another one from the decade+ backlog ( I had it as a kid and actually got to the final boss but never finished it, it wasn't because the boss was difficult either so I'm not sure why I quit ).
  21. Been back in an N64 mood lately, so I think I'm gonna give Duke Nuke: Zero Hour a go. I played it a ton back in the day, but it's been a decade+ since for whatever reason. EDIT: And done. I played through it on the Project 64 emulator, and being able to use 2 analog sticks made it, presumably, a much better experience than with the N64 controller. Solid game, worth checking out if you're a fan of the franchise I think.
  22. I did the same as you. Just wanted to get the Pocket order in asap, 87k ( close to 11:01-2, was half asleep ), then went back for extras and my debit got blocked out but put it on another one for #117k.
