  1. I don't think it matters what board they had, since they can be swapped out at will, however you know very well that if Konami put a Konami board in there, there would DEFINIETLY be 5 screw cart backs with the printed 24 label on the back since they made their own labels for this.
  2. I've set up a Facebook group to aid in buying and selling of Nintendo variants. Feel free to check it out. https://www.facebook.com/groups/510528043272704/announcements

  4. Along those same lines: Donkey Kong Jr. Math comes primarily as a 5 screw variant. DKJM 3 screw variants are very rare (and probably expensive). But the DKJM in GVN is populated with sale data of 5 screw carts only. I'd consider a merger here as well and then specifically call out [3 screw] on this entry's title.
  5. It's a speculation grab. They cost me like 10 or so, sooo.... no skin of my nose.
  6. So I need an opinion.... How rare are the Tiger-Heli 5 screw carts or the Urban Champion 3 Screw carts? Because I bought all of the online ones. (4) and (3)
  7. Those that showed the game box on the front also only had the cart in the console box. The only ones I can find that came with the full game box was the Deluxe sets (test market set included)
  8. I have no idea. I assumed all of the challenge sets had the box. However there are other console variants that depict a Super Mario Bros black box but never came with that box. The clue to this would be the console styrofoam insert I'd think.
  9. Someone is selling a 5 screw Mega Man on eBay right now. No one bought it at 7k. Its at 6500 right now. I really want one but am no where near this price. Someone will eventually pay for it. I hope to find mine in the wild one day. https://www.ebay.com/itm/5-Screw-Mega-Man-1-NES-Nintendo-5-Screw-Variant-w-Non-Rev-Manual-Authentic/303709767067?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649
  10. BLUF: You may have a majority of similar variants in the challenge set Mario 3 boxes but there is no guarantee on version or date codes. There may be several different ones that came with this set. These all came from inside the NES Challenge Set console box. Like other consoles boxed with games in the early days, (i.e. Deluxe editions) the whole boxed game was included and the challenge set sticker was just slapped on in. So the result is that multiple date codes of Mario brothers will have come in the challenge set. It was literally whatever boxed stock they had lying around. You may have different ones coming from different packaging facilities. There would also be very little trust in the concurrence of the inserts even though by the time Super Mario 3 came along Nintendo had gotten better about this.
  11. There are two entries for Chubby Cherub for the NES, a regular one, (which was always there) and a 5 screw one (which is newer I believe). However Chubby Cherub only came in a 5 screw version. You might want to consolidate the data on those.
  12. I believe I have a three screw with this error as well. I can dig it out later an post it.
  13. It's simple. The first Silent Sevice carts were released in 1987. 5 screw carts ended commercial release in 1988. Both boards have 1989 year chips, late 89 even. When the assembly line machines were refitted for 3 screw carts, extra 5 screw clamshell stock was sent to the repair depots because they assembled by hand anyways. So when carts with broken clamshells came in they got a 5 screw one. The late chip dates makes me think it was a repair/refurb cart from a 3 screw cart first assembled in 1990 or later.
  14. Color variations aren't worth tracking because essentially it may have different hues throughout the life cycle of toner carts during printing without an actually change to the intended color.
  15. I don't think either one of those is a legit 5 screw variant. They both appear to be repair cebter replacement shells
  16. I can tell you for sure that there was no matching box/manual. The white jersey cart often came with a black jersey box and manual as well and vice versa. These were planned variants.
  17. Will I found another one.... at DK Oldies of all places. Bought it for like 8 bucks. LOLs Gotta know your stuff boys.
  18. I'm not hyping, besides who looks at this thread but us? No its is not all that rare. This version represent 1/6 to 1/10 of the production of this game. (I am guessing 25-50 thousand copies) But I did get to complete my Gretzky trifecta, and I had to wait for these to show up on eBay to do it, (Which was brought on by a Facebook post in a collectors group no less. Thats why you saw three pop off at the same time on ebay.) I will have to look for one of those. I saw one for sale and I could not figure out why they wanted so much for it. (I'll find mine for 7 bucks in some back alley thrift store I bet.)
  19. So I picked up these this week and noticed some seal misprints. (It's really the gold color stencil shift error) .
