Companies like Nintendo who offer retro/vintage games on their modern hardware have the metrics to determine how popular playing the old games are.  I'm sure than Nintendo has seen how often Switch users are playing their virtual consoles and it's a message to them--people like these old games and are nostalgic for them.  So... build products off of that knowledge.

This is an area to expand into, not to steal from one department to make another one.

I’ve suspected that they might do this. They already track your gameplay hours for Switch games. I’m sure they also have some magic working in the background th track gameplay habits on the virtual console

Better yet, maybe Square-Enix and Nintendo are fuzzy enough after all these decades that if this does well Super Mario RPG2 will finally be made, because paper mario is definitely not it.

I hate to break this to you, but as you may already know, Nintendo America doesn’t develop, they just localize and do marketing. The games are made in Japan and in Japan there is indeed a game called Super Mario RPG2 that was renamed Paper Mario in America. Japan calls the shots.

Another clue is that Mario and Peach character designs in this remake are in the “cutesy form” which is basically a 3D form of the 2D Paper Mario character designs… so one can assume that they chose the character design choice for this remake with Paper Mario in mind

And I know it's June but with every Direct that comes out, I'm more and more shocked that Nintendo isn't revealing their next console.

I get it.  We keep buying their games but at some point they will drift away from the island of relevancy, and if they don't release their next steps/plans, it will be too late between the announcement and the release of the hardware.  I have no clue what it will be, but the Switch is getting to be oooooold in game years.

The day they announce new console, Switch console sales will drop off a cliff. So they are gonna keep milking the cow until it’s dry

You guys know if you can delete the games updates, pop the cart back in and choose to NOT download the update one first run?  I need to dupe some stuff because I’m not so cool that I won’t cheat.

I don’t know.. but I would assume you could delete all game data associated with a game. Then when you play it again, it would be as if it were the first time you ever played it

It will be for me but BotW kinda did that to itself regardless of Totk. I just found going through Botw the 2nd time really tough to keep my attention as the 'awe' and 'charm' of the game had worn off from my initial play-through. I'm really enjoying Totk but I am taking it much slower than Botw as I know I'll likely only give it one really solid attempt. These games are just too big to go back to time and again like some of the older entries. I am starting to find Totk a little tedious for the main story but with the new features and spacing out my playtime I am still really enjoying and look forward to playing. The game design with the new crafting and puzzle solving really is incredible at times.

I beat the game like last week. Only did like  less than 20 shrines. I used the duplication glitch to make lots of hearty large truffles and when you cook 5 together you get full life plus 20 yellow hearts.

Also duplicated a bunch of diamonds to sell and bought all the arrows in town whenever I went to town.

I duped large zonai charges so I could max out the gumball machines and large zonaite so I could buy large crystallized zonai charges.

I know I’m a cheater. But at least I’m honest. Even cheating, this game was pretty hard and Ganondorf was especially hard

I also use the screwdrive method just like you, though I have broken the occasional tab over the years, especially if I open a new third party cart for the first time and it ends up having the tabs on the other side (I'm looking at you, Namco).  My only real complaint is that everyone on earth films shit sideways with their fucking cell phones!!!  Your cellphone's aspect ratio is the same as a tv; for the love of God, turn that sumbitch 90 degrees so it will look like a normal fucking video!!!!

    Now there’s YouTube shorts

A lot of the PCE library is on CDs so it made sense to continue with the project. But going forward I can see them mainly focusing on the pocket.

I don’t know if it’s possibly with the tech but I’d love them to do a Saturn or PS1 console one day. But I’m guessing they’re a while away from that.

I believe there was a big breakthrough development in understanding Saturn hardware/emulation a few years ago. Don’t know that people have actually pursued that path, but I think the door is now open for developers

I would argue against team DLC and say it’s a standalone game worth the $70 price tag. If you’ve just come from BotW though you might want to take a breather before starting this lol

There is so much that went into this game and it really shows. In my opinion it’s worth like $200.

Honestly after playing this, there’s really no point in ever going back to play Breath of the Wild.
