  1. Got it done!! Alien Crush is beaten and was a very unique experience. What a ridiculous goal to beat a game that has like no tools to help you get to that goal. Just checked my videos for my total play time over the last 4 days. Just over 27 hours of gameplay to finish Alien Crush. Pretty proud of my old TG16 console for chugging along for 4 days straight without any issues at all. Was a pretty mentally grueling thing to do. Very glad I'll never have to do that again.
  2. Just grinding today for as much as I can before getting the kids and work. No scares today and kept my extra balls at 6 at my lowest. Paused again at 800,000,000. Not sure I'll have time to finish today. Might have to keep it paused over night once more and try to finish tomorrow.
  3. 650,000,000 for today. Getting to tired to trust my reflexes so it'll have to stay on overnight again.
  4. Trying to barrel through as much as I can. 590,000,000 now. No near misses. Feels live I've got a decent handle on it now.
  5. Every time I'm ready to take a break and pause I have to use a ton of mental effort to fight my urge to turn the machine off when I shut my TV off. I don't want burn in on my CRT so I keep turning it off when I'm paused, but I've always shut them off together so I have to fight that muscle memory. I also have a new fear that I'll hit run and select together by accident and reset the machine. No low ball scares this time. Roughly 520,000,000 point now.
  6. Another 9 ball to last ball scare and now paused at 480,000,000 with 9 balls. This game is going to turn my hair white, and give me a heart attack and an ulcer
  7. Couldn't sleep so I got up super early and put 4 more hour in. Had a moment where I was down to my last ball and was able to turn it around again. Extremely stressful. Now paused at just under 400,000,000 with 8 balls
  8. Thankfully was able to recover myself. Currently have it paused at 250,000,000 with 9 balls. Gonna have to leave my system on overnight and do what I can again tomorrow. Super worried about the system freezing or some kind of power outage. Even with all the NES game I've beaten this is a new kind of tension. When I was down to 2 balls left I was so stressed. I've restarted long RPGs or Strategy games after putting a dozen hour into them, but when it's a game like this with no safety net (saves/passwords/warps) it's a whole new kind of stress.
  9. I'm at 172,000,000 and I just lost all my balls but 2. Got it paused and just need to step away for a bit I think. If I lose it here I'm gonna need some time to regroup. I think I'm about 5 hours in
  10. It was good learning experience to not ever goof around or Stray from the safe path. Gotta stay focused and attentive the whole time. I'm back around 130,000,000 point in less time work 9 balls stocked up (the max). Just gotta grind now and not make the same mistakes
  11. Just lost all my balls 4 hours into Alien Crush.....
  12. So I'm 100,000,000 points into Alien Crush now. Guess that's going to be my week.
  13. Time Cruise sucks so much. Whoever came up with the idea that all the Pinball games need the scores maxed out was an idiot. My last 2 runs of Time Cruise ended at 60,000,000 and 70,000,000 out of the required 99,999,9999. And then I have to do Alien Crush afterwards....
  14. Finally had a good run and had enough extra lives to get through the final stage on Aero Blasters. Tried the second loop and its mostly the same except they made the weakest enemies in each stage invincible which is kind of funny and super hard to deal with. Also the bullets were faster. Thankfully it is the same ending even if you do a second loop so I don't think it is required to call this beaten. Pretty tough game, but not too frustrating outside of just a couple spots. That's it for shmups on the system now too!
  15. Making it to stage 6 fairly consistently now. Had one run to the final boss, but only had one life so he clobbered me.
  16. Made it to stage 6 (final stage) twice in a row tonight. Stage 5 is eating up most of my lives. If I can get a good run through 5 I probably have a good chance at this
  17. Haven't had much time to play lately. Finally did today and sat down with Aero Blasters for a bit. Seems alright so far. I was a bit worried about it, but after Raiden, R-Type, Space Harrier, Psychosis and Dragon Spirit recently it doesn't seem like it'll be too bad
  18. I wouldn't equate them to an adventure game. Those just tend to get creative with their game over screens and still have a very defined ending. With Caesar's Palace and Pirates! it's really up to the player's discretion for how thorough they want to finish.
  19. Turns out a I just needed some sleep and to regroup. Today's session went a lot better. Winning run only used a single continue too! That last boss rush is so easy compared to the 5 levels leading up to it. Space Harrier is beaten.
  20. I'm nearly done beating every TG16 game and once I'm finished with that I plan to start working my way through the Turbo CD library. So I thought this would be a great place to keep track of those games while I do so. But I'd also love some company if anyone else would care to join in, either to play/beat some games or even just discuss some of these titles with me I'd love that. I'll probably be a few more weeks to finish up TG16, but if anyone wants to get started on Turbo CD before me I'll be keeping an eye on here in the meantime. And if the numbers seems off that's because I split the bundled games into separate entries: Bonk/Bonk 2/Gate of Thunder and Ys Books I & II.
  21. Each game will be worth one point, so the points will be added up as "games completed" in the leaderboard. Feel free to comment as much as you'd like about the games you've completed (or not). Here are the rules: We're beating these games, starting now. All games must be started no earlier than the posting of this thread. (February 12th, 2024) There will be no "resets" at the end of the year; this is a focus on completing the entire library. Photos of ending are required Emulation is OK, but no cheat devices, cheat codes, looking up passwords, etc. Legitimate runs only. If you have questions about what constitutes "beating" a game, bring it up and we'll figure it out. (Typical requirements are to get an ending screen or credit roll, on the middle or default difficulty. Or beat the high score. Or win the tournament.) Some games are more obvious than others. Please respect these rules, but more importantly, have fun! 22. Some more ending requirement thoughts: I'm also unclear as to why we accept loops for some games, but not others. Like Ghosts 'n Goblins and Air Fortress require the loops, but none of the Taxan games or Isolated Warrior, Magician, Kick Master, etc? I feel like the game telling you during the ending that there is a harder mode and that harder mode giving a definitive ending is similar enough to a game telling you that the ending is coming after another playthrough that they should be treated the same way. It makes more sense to me than 2 loops of a game like Rally Bike that doesn't offer either of those things. Alpha Mission is a weird one too. There is actually a Area 13 if you defeat the final boss with 3 hits from the Thunder Special. Then you play Area 13 which is a boss rush mode, and since you used up your energy on those Thunders it is pretty challenging. BUT if you actually beat Area 13 the game doesn't loop you to Area 1, instead it sends you back to redo Area 12. It's kind of like you get punished for being cheap on the final boss by using the Thunder Specials to make it easy. If you beat the final boss in any other way though Area 13 only flashes on screen for a second before you get looped to Area 1 again. Not sure which way is "legit", but it's just a unique situation I think. Black Bass is a weird one too. You don't actually get anything for clearing the season so if you win a Class A tournament prior to the season ending I feel like that is sufficient. If we don't require best endings then Caesar's Palace or Pirates! shouldn't require the the best car or title, respectively. You could just play a game and then leave in the bus or taxi and that should count. High Speed I feel like should be you have to to "Beat the System" twice to get the "You've Beaten the System This Time" message rather than a high score which doesn't actually signify anything in game . It feels like a table goal for the game. If something like Overlord requires the hardest difficulty to get the ending screen than I also think TMNT Tournament Fighters, Rampart and Gun*Nac should require the same condition as well. Urban Champion and Pac-Man I also think should be to reach their best rewards of Champion Rank by beating Round 138 and the Blue Key by beating Level 12 on each game.
  23. One that I think should be re-examined is the Galaga win condition. I feel like it should be Beat Stage 31, not Stage 3. There are new bonus stages introduced up until Stage 31 and if our goal for arcade style games is to beat each Stage I feel like that should include the bonuses since they keep introducing new enemy types even if they can't attack you.
  24. Put a good effort into Space Harrier tonight and couldn't quite get it done. Many many many runs to Stage 17 (18 is the last one), but was never able to quite pull that one off yet. 18 looks to be a boss rush and the bosses are the easiest part of the game so I feel like if I can make it to 18, even with a single life left, I'll be able to finish this off.
  25. Started Space Harrier, which I've always wanted to try, but never got around to before. Crazy fast and frantic! Seems super tough. The manual states that there is a continue code that only works three times once you put it in and only works after stage 5. I played around with it a bit and that seems to be wrong though. Feels like once you put the code in you can use a continue as much as you want and it essentially checkpoints you at Stages 6 and 13 once you reach them. So thankfully I only have to do the game in 6 stage chunks which seems doable. Just need to put aside some time to brute force my way through it now.
