AppleKid | 4
So this is weird to me. I've opened literally hundreds of SNES and Super Famicom games and never seen this before. Any ideas?
Driftwood | 209
Looks like someone ran a jumper wire With a resistor to bypass perhaps a broken trace under an ic on the other side of the pcb
AppleKid | 4
Very interesting. Makes me wonder what happened. Thanks Driftwood!
a3quit4s | 4,315
Definitely have seen people run jumpers to bypass broken traces but never had someone put a resistor/capacitor in. Interesting
Driftwood | 209
You see this all the time in the arcade pcb world...

AppleKid | 4
Wow. I had no idea that was a thing. That's really interesting. I wonder, if I was to remove the wire, would it cause damage or just make the game enable the protection mode. I love learning nifty facts like this. Thanks everyone *Edit* On closer inspection I can see that I would need to repair the 2 traces as well. I think I'm gonna go for it lol. Sumez | 3,139
Wow that's a really interesting piece of history. Why would you want to remove the wire? It's obviously meant to be there.

Could be fun to mess with
