some of my nes boxes are sort of fluffy and others are very sharp .

Some other boxes i have are water damaged but dont fluff out and paint flake off like that

what makes it fluffy? is it moisture damage?  the box materials are different than other nes games or the type of wear?

I expect its a combination of water and time that makes the difference.

Poor DKJR math  😞

It can also be from small insects nibbling on the box. But it could be from a combination of different reasons and not just one sole reason (eg. smoke, moisture, water damage, friction rub etc.)

looks like it's been water logged twice and every time you touch it a piece falls off

maybe roll clear tape over it?

i need to dunk it in acrylic glue or something to save it 😉

Or you could do what i did when I wanted to save the VHS box of my favorite movies, cut it up and put the pieces in the sleeve of a clamshell case 😆

Before you laminate it, restore it to mint condition. The stationary store is so useful for preserving games.
