nesguide.com was a great site and database of NES games, but then it just seemed to vanish.  There hasn't been any updates on the site's social media either.  Anybody know what happened to it?

Well, the WHOIS record was updated on 6/17, created 7/24/2005.  It doesn't look like the domain expired and someone snatched it up because, I think, that resets the Created Date, but I could be wrong.

Maybe it was an old hobby project and the guy wants to keep it up but he needs to shift servers, and isn't motivated to be fast about it.

It was pretty complete for a hobby project, and the site had even been adding videos to the game descriptions.  I hope you're right about him just being slow to shift servers.

Hello old homies. I've started playing around with my old consoles and capture cards again. I'm hoping to get an updated website launched soon, minus the radio which I know will bum a lot of people out.

But, you can keep up with these developments on BlueSky and Twitch if you'd like.

And, thanks much for the kind words!

No X profile or facebook eh?  NESguide was such a great resource as were the spinoffs.

BlueSky seems to be a decent microblog platform that can be viewed without someone needing to have an account on the platform. That's really all I care about, but sadly FB and X don't work like that anymore.

Thanks for that, yeah. I've missed working on them.

seems to be up , somewhat . . .

Yeah, I've had a new server set up for a while and I've got a new version of the site really close to being ready to let go. The main difference being that it's mobile-friendly. The old site was desktop only.

Basically, someone above had it right. The server crashed one day and other things have just been taking priority since.

Definitely, and thanks! The overall design in development is pretty much the same, just responsive making things shrink and rearrange when it's being viewed through mobile.

Not reinventing the wheel, just trying to change the shape of the wheel when viewed on a phone.

I remember reading back in the day that the majority of web traffic would be coming from mobile devices within a few years and I totally blew it off as being nonsense. Hindsight is 20/20.

Fair enough, I've had a twitter/x account for years, yet I've never once posted to it.  They locked it down years back and frustrated I made one just to view stuff I was curious about as many sites got comfy linking twitter stories directly and I hated empty boxes.
