Shinobi III Help?

I'm stuck in level 3 of Shinobi III [Genesis] and I could use some help. There's a cage to the right that leads to a dead-end, and a set of floating platforms to the left that I can't jump high enough to reach. 

I feel like there's an obvious way to progress here, but it's escaping me haha.

You can do a small double-jump, if you time it at the pinnacle of your initial jump.

Alternatively, you can use one of the ninja magic spells (Jitsu of Fushin) to temporarily increase your jumping height.

But yeah, master that double jump!

@sp1nz @phart010 @rdrunner thanks, guys! I got past that section thanks to the double-jump!
I didn't even realize that was a game-mechanic in Shinobi III - it's pretty finicky.

You need to be able to do it consistently to beat the later levels. Game is still not as hard as Revenge of Shinobi.

In case you ever end up playing it, Super Ghouls’n Ghosts also has a double jump mechanic. This thread brought back memories of me trying to figure out how to pass an early obstacle in that game. Then it hit me...friggin’ double jump, yo!
