I remember feeling so deceived as a kid playing what I thought was going to be the sequel to SMW. I've gotten over it and now can enjoy the game for what it is but man, what a let down.

I still can't get into it...

Oddly enough my wife loves it and she's not even big on playing games. (will only play Mario, Crash Bandicoot, Tarzan or Billy Hatcher a couple times a year). Her favorite Mario is actually NSMB on DS to boot.

Thanks to everyone for their patience, it's been a busy week. See above for what items are still available.

Sending PM for DC DDR Mat

  3. First thing that I'd like to see done is executing the shooter. Ideally by gunfire.

Secondly, the process of acquiring a gun should be more stringent, including mental health screenings among whatever else could help prevent sick people from legally getting one. Perhaps limiting someone's initial purchase to one single handgun or hunting rifle and not allowing the purchase of another for X amount of years. I also feel like extended magazines and body armor are not necessary for a private citizen's ability to protect themselves/others.

That said, there are far too many avenues to get guns illegally and even if larger magazines are banned for private use, multiple guns could still allow for a higher body count in these situations. Local police should have additional funds to place multiple officers at every school, every day, as I still generally believe in the notion that "good guys" with guns can prevent things like this. Anything to that may help deter these situations.

  4. Tough to pick one to rule them all...

Saturn Model 2 Controller is probably the best for fighting games (outside of an arcade stick)

Xbox 360/One is the most comfortable, especially for FPS (but the d-pad is butt)

PS5 DualSense is quite comfortable too and the haptic feedback/microphone can really add to the immersion in my experience

And I may be one of the 7 people in the world that actually likes the N64 controller. Maybe its nostalgia, but I can still pick it up and very comfortably play my favorite games any day of the week.

I agree and am not sure who here has implied that those hate-messaging are in the right.

Personally, the only reason I even commented about the content of the messages/the type of people who sent them is because others in this thread used it as an opportunity to bash people who collect/invest in sealed/graded games without any proof from OP.

I like to think there’s good and bad in all fields of collecting. So my take is that there will likely be bashers that we encounter periodically. Learning to deal with these knockers are part of the tough lessons in our collecting journey.

Yeah, I dealt with the "bashers" by asking how they were so certain and then quoting OP to infer that those sending hate messages weren't collectors/investors of sealed/graded games.

Regarding the pm’s, no one will really know what the messages were about and who these types are. It’s a mere guess at best. So to me, trying to decipher messages where I can’t even see becomes an unfruitful exercise. This is by no means I’m trying to invalidate your point. Just that your point can’t be proven right or wrong from what I can tell.

    OP:

"The majority has stopped, just deleting really misguided messages of people who have walls of text of the various issues  is a bit satisfying. I think explaining i wasn't profiting, had no influence, or no ill-intentions may have taken the heat off."

So it seems more likely that the messages OP received were from people who accused him of flipping sealed games for top dollar (most likely by grading and selling online, like on HA), and/or purposefully "influencing" the "market". Doesn't sound like things sealed/graded collectors/investors would rip OP about.

My whole point was that certain people like to make assumptions just for an opportunity to bash others without any evidence. I just like to highlight that behavior from time to time.

I just want to say it doesn’t matter what the messages were about, it’s just not cool to harass people in private.

I’d bet most of us, if not all, want to come here to de-stress, not coming on to receive stressful private messages.

I agree and am not sure who here has implied that those hate-messaging are in the right.

So I have more questions. Who's mad about this and why? And why would they message you? What did they write?

I shared OP's recent comment in a quote to you earlier in this thread. Sounds to me like the negativity is coming from people who thinks he's manipulating the "market" somehow by showing off sealed games and/or mentioning things like grading and sending to auction houses. Though OP has not shared any direct quotes from messages afaik.

I'm pretty deep in these communities, trust me, nobody cares about a single sealed game on the market. Chrono Trigger is one of the best selling Super NES games of all time, there are probably thousands of sealed copies. As long as the pool of buyers is larger than the pool of sellers, the price won't drop at all. You still have to buy one as soon as it comes up for auction because it's not like you have other options.

I agree that another sealed copy existing isn't pissing off sealed/graded collectors, causing them to hate-message OP, which is what other people suggested on this thread and I disagreed.

PS: CT didn't sell that well in the states it seems. Less than 300k copies, but that's beside the point.

  9. I think its tough to compare swapping a jewel case with a reproduction cardboard box. If the PS1 jewel case had some type of unique marking (like NGCD games), then you'd have a pretty solid point.

AFAIK there's not a good way to tell if the jewel case was swapped with another PS1 game, DC game, CD etc. (though I do know current aftermarket jewel cases are much flimsier in their build)

All that said, I really don't see why many people would (should?) grade CIB PS1 jewel case games unless it's one of the jewel case variants or one of the very few high-end titles.

Big haul here from the last 2-3 weeks. Thanks to @Silent Hill and @3rdStrongestMole for the super smooth trades. First up, a bunch of PSVR games. Going for the full set, mostly just because it's novel, cheapish, and relatively easy. I also think just think VR is fun in short bursts.

My pleasure, love my end of the trade as well! I think you'll really enjoy Moss if you open that sucker up.

Also, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is fan-fuggin'-tastic.

Which hate messages? What did he share? Why are people sending him messages?

Some people on here think that folks who collect/"invest" in sealed/graded games are the ones angrily reaching out because OP showing that another sealed copy of Chrono Trigger exists completely dismantles their fake market on sealed/graded games and destroys their profitability.

Ironically, it seems that the people actually reaching out with negative comments are those who are against sealed/graded games, blaming OP for profiting off of sealed games and potentially sending them off to be graded and/or auctioned.

    OP:

"The majority has stopped, just deleting really misguided messages of people who have walls of text of the various issues  is a bit satisfying. I think explaining i wasn't profiting, had no influence, or no ill-intentions may have taken the heat off."

I’m not dude, it’s hyperbole. I wouldn’t bother holding my breath trying to find out identities of anonymous hate message senders on social media.

Lol, I see. Quite the hyperbole:

"i suggest you delete everything you posted about this and ignore those salty beta cuck investor bros who are just jealous.

Folks that are trying to actually make a living of a fake market are pissed that their house of cards they built on is less stable then they think, and the only way to cope is to lash out at people like you, simply posting something for a friend. Fuck em’! "

I read that as the hate messages he's getting are from people against sealed/graded games.

"I'm not reading the hate messages,I promise I am not  trying to kill OUR hobby, or drive prices up."

Some people are unhinged but I don't think a video showing off a few single copies of high dollar sealed games is going to piss off "investor bros". (Pissed that they're not able to buy them, sure, but not pissed because another sealed copy of CT is confirmed to exist)

    Expand

Yes, it will. Investor bros are cancer.

It'd be nice to see some of the messages because I'm still not sure how anyone is so confident that they're largely from "investor bros".

  15. Still trying to get into Guardians of the Galaxy but it's not really jiving with me for some reason. Combat isn't that great and there's a fair amount of nothingness from point A to B. Also, Rocket annoys the shit out of me in the game. Constantly bitching about something.

If I end up moving onto something new, it'll probably be Returnal, Godfall, or Medium. At least until GT7 hits in a couple weeks because once that drops, I'll probably exclusively play that for some time.

Since I finished up Cloudpunk on Switch a week or so ago, I started Carrion and am finally giving Earthbound a proper try. Jeff just joined my party and I'm digging it so will hopefully continue to see it through.
