And quite possibly he’s the major contributor to the grading crossovers from VGA to WATA..? I can’t imagine him sitting still and twiddling his thumbs, spectating only.

RareBucky would rather eat himself slowly than cross a single game to WATA haha. He is firmly Team VGA. He has sold a lot to people who have, though.

You are conflicted because you have publicly profited the most off of a market that you helped build with manipulation and deceit.

See, here we go. Finally at least had the guts to say it out loud. Sorry, Driftwood, but I’m sick of it, so time to respond.

All this shit for so long about “manipulation” and “deceit,” and really nothing to show for it other than using those words out of spite with no substance. I worked my ass off and hustled chasing games as a second job to accumulate what I did. I bought, I sold, I bought more with the profits, I cleaned 100 games a weekend in my basement, I did what I could to help what I thought he something I enjoyed and could help pay for my children’s education and fund a personal collection. I am not ashamed of that and I never imagine it would have gotten as crazy as it has.

What I have done is take those games and largely send them off to auction at various auction houses. I have no control over who bids what or what their motivations are for bidding. I don’t know what your motivations are in targeting me, or why you are so angry, but seriously enough is enough. If you want to talk about populations or demand or any of that, great. But cut the shit dancing around accusing me of things just because you’re mad at the world.

Think you have the wrong guy... I still have 99% of my collection. I am not in it for the money.

I do remember you posting some obnoxious post on FB after you sold all those games for crazy money that you were going to sail into the sunset and stop focusing on buying and selling games. That lasted long huh? You have been more active on here and FB than I have ever seen. Weird.

Nope, I never said that? Why would I go away?

Of course it is ludicrous. Rarebucky has probably graded more games himself through VGA in the last decade than WATA has graded all games from all submitters period!

A lot of RareBucky’s supply got raided very early in the process by people who converted them to WATA. He was selling stuff left and right because he thought it was a momentary blip.

Only people throwing money around like that came in from other hobbies and have no interest in the heritage or significance of our passion...

let me run head first to a payout, consequences be damned.

This is the crux of it. People don’t want games to rise in value, or for “non-gamers” who don’t “love the games” to come in and change the landscape. All totally understandable, and it happens in every collectible when this transition is made.

But that doesn’t mean people can will more of these items into existence. The evidence on the rarity of these items is long and storied, particularly when compared to other collectibles. There just aren’t a lot out there, and so it won’t take that great an increase or decrease in demand to shift the market.

Oh, I think you're right that that's what it comes down to. But I think, realistically, nobody knows how future demand is gonna pan out, especially at that end of the market. Seth doesn't know, DetonatedGerbil doesn't know, you don't know and I don't know. Are sufficient numbers of rich people, in ten or twenty or thirty or whatever years, going to think it's neat to own a sealed copy of Super Mario to keep the price in that 6-7 figure range? I have no idea. I don't think anyone can say for sure.

Demand, nobody knows. Supply? I think we have some pretty strong evidence where that’s gonna be. Seems to be some wishcasting supply will grow exponentially, which goes against 20+ years of observation from long-time collectors and data from grading companies.

Yeah, but why is it fair to compare a population report from a grading company that has been around for two years with one that has been around for decades?

Sealed games are not comparable to open and used comics. People opened the games and played them or stores threw them out. Hardcore collectors who have been collecting since the 90s know how rare this stuff is. They have seen the natural flow of product before anyone cared about collecting them. The more time goes on, the less likely significant finds will occur. And, despite all the press about values of games atm, relatively few items have come to light. It’s extremely likely that the lion’s share of sealed games from, say, 1999 and before, have already been made public in one form or another.

Yes, VGA will add to the numbers, but a large number of those will be crosses, and even if you added the numbers together it would still be scarce overall. WATA in the past 3 years has had way more momentum than VGA ever had, and a tremendous number of submissions, so to assume VGA pops will be 3-4-5 times WATA is almost certainly not going to bear out.

There are less graded sealed games than i thought , i mean for example if you compare this to a comic book pop report the sealed games are a rarity

There are like 12,000 graded Hulk 181s and 7500 GRADED WATA NES games lol.

325 PSA 10 Jordans and 250 sealed WATA Mario 3s.

Could go on forever. People who have tracked this stuff closely have known this for a long time.

    Am I reading this correctly?

Out of 237 graded sealed Mario 3's only SIXTEEN are "left bros"???

Actually that's pretty rare, thinking about it!

That’s crazy, Pat the NES Punk saw one on his shelf and told the world there were hundreds, if not thousands, sealed. I am absolutely floored he could be so wrong. The science was basically flawless!

When you go to advanced search -> sold, does that show all the solds or just the recent ones? Think this might be one of the most valuable things about this website if you are showing all solds and the actual sold price (not like the listed price when a best offer was accepted).

Interesting how a 9.8 A+ and 9.2 A+ Shinobi 3 sold for the exact same price... sucks to be the 9.2 A+ buyer...

The website is glitchy as hell lol

I know you know, but the 9.2 sold for 2k lol. Glitches are improving for me, seeing daily improvements.
