  1. Is this the year that you go 5x on Racket Attack?
  2. Thanks @Khromak. Keep the advice coming. Dance Aerobics was intimidating in a way that I wasn't really expecting after how easy the other four Power Pad games were (sans Street Cop, which was already done). Also, Tag Team Wrestling is done. And I may start chipping away at All-Pro Basketball soon, unless someone else has already started it or is burning to do it for the first time. Also Also: This completion put me over 500 points for the year! It's my 8th time doing so, which ain't half bad for a down year. Also Also Also: This completion leaves us with exactly 67 games to go. That basically means to me that we have now reached Level 10 of the challenge! (Since there are 67 10-point games...)
  3. That was my intention and I just spent the better part of an hour with it. Dance Aerobics is MUCH harder than the other four Power Pad games I just did. I'll probably try it again later, but this one may be beyond my abilities. I couldn't beat the first stages of any of the game modes, and the game doesn't seem to have difficulty settings like Athletic World or Super Team Games. I think I was even racking errors on some parts because my Size-12-wide feet were simultaneously touching more than one button at once. I'm not sure if I have enough flexibility for some of the exercises, and the musical rhythm game is really unintuitive for me. I'm an out-of-shape, middle-aged dude (turning 40 in May...), and Dance Aerobics is far less forgiving than its sisters. I was able to cheese those by tucking my Power Pad between the legs of a chair; I would sit down over the Power Pad and be able to manipulate the buttons faster and more easily while seated. Are there any other broke-down older nerds who've beaten this and can share some tips?
  4. It's time for a wellness check! How is this going for you?
  5. Athletic World is done. This one was the hardest of the running games for sure.
  6. Short Order / Eggsplode is done. Finding space to put my Power Pad down was longer and harder than beating this for the first time. I'll continue working on Power Pad games.
  7. I have 5 battles left to win in Conflict, so that should hopefully be history in the next few days.
  8. Does anyone know if there's some kind of compatibility issue with Little Ninja Brothers and the Everdrive N8? I've started four different games with three different ROMs in the last few days, and the game keeps crashing about 20 minutes into my game during random encounter battles. It's really starting to irritate me. It's weird, because I've beaten Little Ninja Brothers on my Everdrive before. I do remember it having some instability, and that I previously may have had more success with some ROMs better than others. I think I'll also start Conflict again.
  9. NES Play Action Football is done for another year.
  10. RoboWarrior is done. With this completion, I have preserved my record of being the only one to score 400+ in every year since @scaryice instituted the points system.
  11. Thank you! I was so disappointed with the stage design. I expect first-party Nintendo games to be fair, and StarTropics wasn't.
  12. I appreciate the enthusiasm and the kind words, but I'm afraid I didn't find your pitch terribly persuasive. I really like just beating a game and moving on to something else. I have a handful of comfort games that I play over-and-over, but I really prefer changing games frequently. I'm not really motivated by high scores or style points most of the time, and I only enjoy going deeper when it's entirely my own idea. (I once read a 1000 page history book for fun over the summer after refusing to touch it while a couple of its chapters were assigned reading for a high school class...) The thought of playing one game over and over for an entire week sounds like a chore, and I have enough of those already.
  13. Thanks for the write-up. I was using walktrhoughs when I tried Rad Gravity a few years ago; I remember burning through the game up to the last level, and I'm pretty sure I had every upgrade available. Then I got to the last level, and I couldn't last 30 seconds. I beat my head against that proverbial wall for about an hour, got no better, and put the game down until someone else beat it.
  14. Aside from probably not having the time, I don't think I'd be any good at it. I'm usually the kind of player that just barely limps across the finish line of NES games, and usually on lesser difficulty settings if they're offered. My skill level is far below most of the competitors here. I do well on this challenge only because I have a very broad knowledge of the NES catalog, and I generally fatten up on the cupcakes.
  15. I like that game, and would like to finish it someday. But man, I was surprised by how sharply the difficulty spiked on the last level.
  16. I also did the first three games of NES Play Action Football today. No one else needs to start that one.
  17. Congrats to @guitarzombie for doing The Mutant Virus. That's a huge clear that boosted our odds of beating the whole catalog. I may be within a few days of doing another run at RoboWarrior, but I'm curious if @TheGameDisplay may already be onto it. He last posted a few weeks ago with conquests in the R's.
