I loved Shining in the Darkness. The music, the cutsey graphics, it was just a fun game! Challenging, and arguably "unfair" too. I remember at one point I was fighting some mandrakes, and one of them "screamed" and instantly killed my ENTIRE party. Yup, cheap shite. Still, great game despite the flaws. Oh, and the CD soundtrack is totally worth tracking down, but it's harder to find than the game --

Everyone says that SNES has better RPGs, but it really depends on what you're into. The popular Square RPGs on SNES are more like easy interactive soap operas that are more about the story. Genesis has hardcore RPGs such as Phantasy Star II and Shining in the Darkness that are brutally difficult to complete. The kind of games that you need to map out with pen and paper.

Rally Bike is finished! The first loop is not too hard, but the second one is tough. The 9th race is particular, I got to several times before the winning run. It's not enough to just survive, you have to really speed through it to finish high enough to advance. Even though I beat the game before in 2021, it's still a huge pain. Amusingly, the 10th and final race is the only one to not require any particular placement because the game ends after it regardless.

Congrats. I tried and tried and tried and couldn't even beat the first race. Or maybe it was the second race. Having to start over every time you crash is ridiculous.

Oh yeah, Swamp Thing has a kind of charm to it that makes it all the more heart breaking as that charm starts slowly slipping away and the frustration all comes boiling to the surface. What a great-idea-turned-horrible-missed-opportunity.

Swamp Thing made by the same people who did all the Simpsons games and Ghostbusters II on the NES. It's my understanding that most of these have the same lousy control issues.

Meh.  Watched when it was relevant and I don't care enough to see it again.  And Kevin Spacey and all that.

From a strictly artistic perspective, Spacey's acting is pretty great.  Keyser Söze ftw.

But he kinda always plays the same smug smarmy I'm-smarter-than-thou psychopathic character.  Which is pretty much how I perceive him in real life.  Anyway, he's pretty much done.

Nobody's better at playing assholes than Spacey. Love him in Glengarry Glen Ross and Swimming With Sharks.

All right, Bases Loaded is done. This game really captures the sheer tedium of baseball by making you play 80 boring ass games of baseball.

The special trick in the FAQ definitely works. This is the last time I'm playing this though.

Games like this are more fun with two players or in small doses as a single player game.

Well I vaguely recall the heckler on the castle wall, a knight in a forest who kept losing limbs, and some kind of volcano place at the end of the movie? (But maybe I'm confusing it with something else

How can you not remember the famous breaking of the fourth wall at the end of the movie? Or the killer bunny? Did you fall asleep?
