That works for me. We just need to get @skinnygrinny to take us to the original Hooters in Clearwater. He needs to invite @gutsman004 too since apparently Texas is lacking in Hooters establishments.
I seem to recall some waitresses holding handwritten notes of encouragement a long time ago

I rarely try to jump the fireballs. In the event I'm stuck in a corner and have no choice, I wait until they are moving towards me and then try to jump. That's about the only sure way to jump them without landing on one.
The only way I can feel safe jumping them is if they are passing over a rivet , they don't seem to hesitate when that are passing over one and you can jump over them plus clear the rivet at the same time, I can almost never clear one on the girders.

True indeed Doug

True indeed Doug, I'm currently in second with 300K but I got that on my first run of the day, I'm stuck around 175 every try, seems like now that I know how to jackpot the barrels they don't like to go down the ladder as often

Hot Take
Jumping over fire balls on the rivet stage is one of the hardest things to do in NES gaming.....
Also why do the fireballs on that stage look different?? I prefer the ones on the first 2 stages

Yes, you light the bud then go to the bud light

Go left to right and work your way up. You can use the hammers for extra points and to control where the fireballs appear. If you hit one, the replacement comes back on the opposite side of where you are so you can use that to your advantage.
That seems to work best for me, I have heard you can do one side at a time but when I try that you can corner yourself against the fire balls if things go wrong

So now that we're know the barrel trick and the spring pattern let's have a about best patterns for the rivet stage

If your looking for something to play try Metroid , Its not too long and save states would be way easier than passwords, sucha shame they didnt give that cart a battery so you can save like the FDS version.... Also you could try Kid Icarus, I just beat that when we all started staying home

Never really appreciated Nintendo world cup fully until playing this for three days, I use speedy players on offense and you can put English on your shots using left and right when you shoot. I started scoring goals once I read that in the manual online

@Scrobins that's awesome. I have a judgmental cat of my own. His name is Bentley. Here he is wearing his Super Mario collar to celebrate this week's contest

With the week off from contest games I decided to give a go at kid Icarus. I was never able to beat it years ago, I don't remember ever making it much past world 1-2 but I managed to get through the game for the first time today with my Nintendo players guide and a walkthrough for 3-4 . Yay me!!
Just curious what your opinions are on the difficulty of this game
