  1. @Daniel_Doyce Ever tried out the genesis versions of the Koei games?
  2. Funny you should mention that, right now I am trying to beat it with a self imposed handicap of having to invade Spain right away on scenario 3. Its pretty tough though so no guarantees Ill finish it.
  3. Ah good call, I believe I started Dec 31st now that I think about it. Im guessing you have some experience with how utterly slow moving the gameplay is lol
  4. L'Empereur is done on scenario 2. @Daniel_Doyce Your advice on taxes/supplies made things much easier, thanks bro.
  5. Didnt the N64 library get finished in a year? It seems to be the 16 bit stuff that is most stubborn.
  6. Thanks for all the tips! Scenario 1 is a bit too much because the directory is really dumb and inefficient so I play on scenario 2 where I can get them out of the picture in a few years.
  7. What I mean is on the national/executive phase, the cumulative food you can distribute is harvested/collected in november so then on the December phase you can distribute it. So if I understand correctly using the command option the supply base thing gives you overall more food and the tax option gives you overall more gold? Does this negatively affect the specific citys food/money? Also do you know how the game calculates how many recruits you are allowed to recruit? Ive gotten more familiar with the game and my new strategy is to cripple Prussia and Austria to the point that they wont invade me, conquer Denmark and then direct all my resources to taking Britain, because they really make the amphibious invasions difficult in this game.
  8. Ah I see. Another noob question:: Ive captured everywhere except Russia, Spain, and Britain but suddenly the game stopped giving me food in November. Do you know how to fix this?
  9. Do you know L'Empereur well? Im playing scenario 1 and it says the victory condition is to capture 9 cities but I have captured 11 and it hasn't said I won yet, although I did get promoted to emperor about halfway through my run.
  10. I know its already done but I beat some F Zero cups: kings league on standard and knights league on expert. Fire Stingray is basically the only viable option on expert mode. For kings league on standard I recommend Blue Falcon. For anything easier than that I recommend Wild Goose so you can crash stuff. Essential tips for noobs like me: use the L and R buttons, put all your focus into not crashing even if it means letting guys pass you, for Death Wind 2 and Fire Field you have to memorize every turn and treat it like a tactical game of health/speed management. This game really makes you feel intense, when playing it I cant help grip the controller so hard my hands hurt, and like an hour after playing it Im still jacked up on adrenaline. As much as this is an awesome game for its time, I have to say that because a snail car can spawn at any time and ruin an otherwise perfect run and because of the rubber banding it feels like the game punishes your mistakes severely but doesn't reward your good runs.
  11. Im trying to beat Kings Cup on standard but keep getting crushed. Is there a "magic bullet" to this game or just lots of practice?
  12. Apparently Dungeon Master won game of the year in in 1990 in a Japanese gaming magazine. Maybe the Amiga or Turbo-CD versions are actually good.
  13. I gave myself the bonus challenge of trying to beat world 1 with only the scorpion rope thing. Its so hard lol
  14. Just finished Hagane. It kinda reminds me of Megaman X in that its super fun, difficult, and has a cool new jump function that you have to use so much it makes your thumb hurt.
  15. The Genesis version overall plays much better, mostly because it doesn't shift around the camera every time you turn around. The best part of that game is the rendition of "I just cant wait to be king".
  16. Lemmings is just too hard. Good luck to whoever tries that one.
  17. I found it a lot easier than the other 2 games. There wasn't a single major roadblock I got stuck at while the other games had plenty. When youre escaping from the death its all about adjusting the angle with the L and R buttons. At the final sequence look out for what looks like metal waffles on the left and right side, they just look like part of the background but they are the obstacle you are supposed to be dodging.
  18. Super Return of the Jedi is done. The best of the 3 games imo, although the high points of empire shine a bit brighter. People's main complaint about this game seems to be the first level sucks, and it does but pretty awesome game after that.
  19. I beat the first loop of R type 3, not gonna try advanced mode. This is a very excellent game, an improvement on Super R Type in every way. Also some very impressive visuals and use of the mode 7 stuff. I watched a video by SNESDrunk where he says its harder than Super R type and it is absolutely not anywhere close lol Actually having checkpoints is an absolute godsend. The normal difficulty probably does require more memorization/skill but the margin of error is just so much bigger. The one nitpick that annoyed me in this game is the last boss will only die if you shoot your shield pod at it in its final form, which would be fine if they would indicate your other attacks are not doing damage, but actually it keeps flashing red as if you are hurting it. I might try beating the first loop again with the different pod types.
  20. Technically I suppose Dungeon Master and Nolan Ryan Baseball should be not crossed off but have their color changed to black.
  21. Super Empire Strikes Back is done. I have mixed feelings about this game. On the one hand its a very long very ambitious game that is excellent in many regards. In terms of content its one of the best SNES games Ive ever played. Many of the levels are very fun and exhilarating. On the other hand, the collision detection is terrible, the controls could be better, and some of the levels are not fun and actually quite tedious and frustrating. The Hoth caves are the worst and the 2D vertical shooter level where your ship takes up 40% of the screen was ridiculous. The highlights of the game are the 3D battle of Hoth level and the final duel with Vader. Most of all though I loved that it gave me a password when I died unlike the first Super Star Wars. It was a lot of fun but its also left me feeling pretty burnt out. I don't think Im gonna play a video game for a while.
  22. Hey Brock Rothschild & friends. Congrats on the baseball win btw I must have missed when you posted it before.
