I'd say Braid fits in nicely with the list you posted. Super Meat Boy to complete those from that documentary and then add Celeste and Axiom Verge.
But there's so many others now. I've seen "Wasteland 2" categorized as Indie. All of those absolutely. Can’t believe I forgot Celeste and axiom verge!

Other indie games that come to mind in the “challenging AAA dominance” category:
- hyper light drifter
- hades
- deaths door
- FEZ
- TUNIC
- journey
- FTL: faster than light
and more!
in my mind these are so much more memorable than any AAA game in the last 15 years. Another point too, there are so many indie games now, that there are easily a dozen more engaging indie games for every AAA game.

No thread here for Animal Well or any other indie releases, but Nintendo slaps a couple old roms on a disc and everyone here loses their dang mind
Seriously. One of the best indie games of the year. Perhaps the best - but we’ll see how the year shakes out.

I def can’t speak for anyone else but almost every game that’s my favorite is not AAA.

If you want customers to use your product, don't raise the barrier of entry. I'll pass.
Imagine trying to walk into a store and someone steps out in front of you and won't let you by until you interact with them.
Look I hate pop ups as much as the next guy but if that’s the worst I gotta see on their site I think we’re doing alright lol

as long as it's 3V it's probably good?
right?
...guys?

All silvers have this. At least all NTSC-U and Japan copies.

Looks like everything but pops are back up. Their statement says they’re tweaking some issues and it’ll be back soon, but no exact date or timeframe.

looking forward to congress not prioritizing a reasonable digital media support standard and we continue to own nothing.

I would never in my life put my games in an attic knowing something could crash right through the roof. But maybe they live on a ranch and never have fallen tree issues.
That said, dope set!

What's your source for deciphering the PCB codes? I've always wondered what those were and this makes sense. Also, is there a way on the PCB to know the date the were printed? This gives the month, but what about the year?
As @JVOSS mentioned, I'm less interested in this info for Pokemon and just general knowledge for other GB games. Thanks for sharing. Thank you.
Oh and my source is community members but I’m sure you could find some public documentation on game boy pcbs somewhere. I didn’t look super hard though because I had great info from people directly.
I also used snescentral for the chips, which translates directly to game boy. I don’t know if they have anything about the pcb itself though, particularly for the date code module.

dude this need to be more public as this is the same data for not just pokemon's. love the data. can i use this format and change for each board?
It should apply for other game boy games minus third party. also different manufacturers format their date codes differently.

The year is just above the pcb date squares.

Ther e a ton of factors that go into a max bid for a high dollar item.
The rarity and desirability of the game helped a lot. I guess that’s why five different people were bidding over 80k lol

Can anyone give me insight into how this price is reached? Like what factors play into it going to 90k?
2 or 3 to exist, so it's rare.
Castlevania so cool?
A ton of money on the sideline from other HA auctions and switching into favorites or better long term holds?
Bitcoin went brrr so time to splurge?
Maybe a quick flip? Raw -> grade gets $110k?
Honestly curious. People saying they're not surprised by $90k but that's more than most grails in other sectors of the collectors markets. And those are for graded items. Pivotal game, sure but not historic in my book. 3 is a better game but I guess missing the hangtab factor? $90k is 3x $30k. Like, that's a proper amount of cash.
I feel people are numb to these huge numbers. It's $10k over $80k. That's nothing to stick your nose up at. It makes me think these purchases are with funny money from big profits pulled from other sales.
It’s easy. What deep wallets felt like bidding that day, and is there a second person who is equally determined. Commence bidding war.
AAA Games -- are they becoming more and more irrelevant?

I’m sorry but what? Why does its size matter? It’s as if someone put “write an entire article upselling animal well purely due to its 34mb size” into chat gpt
