You know something? After all these years knowing about its existence and its rarity, I can't recall anyone ever asking this or mentioning it anywhere...

I have several Hong Kong games (not Mah Jong unfortunately)...and I've never opened one. Until now!

Granted, one would actually have to open a real Mah Jong to be sure, but at least this is some evidence pointing in the 72 direction.

So, not a robbery?  I was just in a thrift last week that had one entry area boarded up. Cashier told me someone had driven thru the storefront one recent night and robbed the place.  Hard to believe you could steal enough worthwhile stuff at a thrift to pay for the car damage, but maybe it was a POS car.

Any car that is used as a battering ram during a robbery is stolen.

Yeah all necro up in this... I have a question, VGPC is a scam and with the rarity of this item.

If you had a clean, let's say 8-9/10 quality CIB copy of F1... if you let this go to an open offer (ebay or not) what do any of you think this game is worth.  I have a friend who may end up with this and some other stunning stuff at pennies to the dollar in perspective.

I don't know of any actual completed sales, but CIB copies seem to always be listed for 2K plus. This one was recently posted on Facebook.

Capcom Mega Man 6 exists CIB.  Whether or not it was "released," and where, is a matter of speculation.  This copy is not mine, just a random pic from the interwebs:

    Mega Man 6 non -1.png

That's a picture of the only known sealed copy.

I agree that somewhere, someone has a CIB copy. I just find it odd that nobody has ever taken a picture of one and shared it online in some way - especially if there are 4 graded CIBs out there. Nobody has even claimed to know someone who has one which is what makes that pop report fishy.

  5. So, I've had this poster for a while. The whole time I had assumed it was a promotional poster meant for stores.

Then I took a look at the DW III registration card - the measurements are the same - so does this mean that this is the mail away poster on the card - and therefore 1 of 450? If so, that's pretty neat.

If this isn't the mail away poster - then where did it come from?

If it is the poster, has anyone seen the DW III poster?

My theory is that they were all shipped to Playtronic sealed and then Playtronic repackaged them. This would mean they opened them up, discarded the US box/manual, restickered the front and back of the cart with Playtronic labels and repackaged it in a Playtronic version box.

Check out this MM6 from Brazil has gold rear sticker with a paper Playtronic sticker on top of it. MM6 was not a gold sticker game (gold sticker was reserved for battery backup games with save functionality) so it’s likely that cart backs were disassembled, restickered and the restickered backs were thrown into a parts bin and randomly pulled for pretty much any game distributed by Playtronic.

That's an interesting take. I also have a copy of the purple Capcom variant with a gold sticker under the Playtronic back label and I always wondered why.

If your theory is correct then at some point in time a Playtronic factory worker was sitting next to a garbage bin filled to the brim with discarded Purple boxes and manuals. At the end of his shift he wheeled it out to the dumpster and threw them all away....sigh.

@DK you REALLY need to track down who you sold that Stinger to one day.

I still haven’t seen another CIB surface in all these years, and only three or four loose carts have popped up in all this time too…I missed them all too 😕

I know exactly who I sold it to. They are a member here and I contact them from time to time to make sure it's safe and sound. It's been in storage since I sold it to them and I'm first on the list if they ever decide to sell. 🙂

@Ferris Bueller has a CIB if you're looking for some flap pics (Which I'd like to see too)

Interesting. Thank you! Do you believe the one I posted is worth the $2,300? The one you posted is at 999 with no opening bids and comes with the manual. Would a US variant be worth more given a very small amount exist?

There have been a few sales in the last 6 months in the 1000-2000 range. That IS a nice copy, but I don't think it's worth that much yet (In the future? Who knows)

The copies with US backs aren't worth any more than the Playtronic backed ones, simply because there is no way to prove they aren't back swapped. If you had a USA-back with the USA manual, then now you're talking a serious value increase.

    Here is another:
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/334698424624

All NES games released/sold in Brazil via official channels will have the Playtronic back sticker on them.

I have had several of these over the years. I have only had two that didn't have the back sticker - both were acquired in USA and were either back swaps or copies that never made it to South America.

Just thought I'd let you guys know that there's hope

    Screenshot_20230115_090503_Chrome.jpg

I find it hard to believe that there are 4 Purple Capcom MM6 CIBs that have been graded when (as far as I know) there are ZERO known CIB copies.

Several loose carts, something like 3-5 manuals and one sealed copy is all that has surfaced.

Anyone ever seen a CIB? If these exist surely someone has shared a pic somewhere.

Searching in the web i find this version of DKR (for Taiwan only) a little bit common of asian version, but ia days ago i got another version "only for Singapore, Malaiysia and Indonesia" ive never seen before this version anyone know if this version is even rarer than the Taiwan only?

Here are mine, I think I'm only missing the Hong Kong version to complete the "orange box" set.

Taiwan was the hardest of the 3 I have to get.

Nah, but it's very tightly controlled, and the rarity of these (and subsequently price / value) is highly overstated / inflated.

How does a entire region's games get tightly controlled in the used/collectable market? I can understand a certain title, but ALL of them?

Are you implying that some sort of group bought up all the stock in the late 90s/early 2000s and is simply sitting on it and not selling?

  13. Now that was a good deal!

I think I got my first one - Ice Hockey in 2012 for something like $20, the most expensive one was Kid Icarus which I got about 5 years ago for $170. I think Dr. Mario was 120, Cobra Triangle was 40 all bought around the same time.

Most recent addition was Mike Tyson, which I got on Ebay for $100 earlier this year.

  14. I've been casually collecting Korean NES games for about 10 years now - casually in that I would get one if the price was not crazy.

There haven't been very many online sales to go on, so pricing them will be hard.

Some of them have only ever been seen in ads, so they could command a pretty high premium.

The Zeldas should easily be 1000+ each, others much less.

Are you looking to sell? Do you have a list of what you have?
