He picked off most of it before stuff really started to boom.   He was on NA in the early years.

Gotcha. I kind of remember him somewhat. Seemed like everyone liked him if I remember correctly. Read the backgrounds on the staff on the wata site. Looks like he’s 26 as it says he graduated college in 2016 which likely make him around 22 at the time.

Cool that Ken and Bronty are on the staff. I didn’t have much interaction with Ken,so I don’t know a lot about him but Bronty is as knowledgeable as they come.

I did not join NA until 2011,I was totally into the arcade collecting scene from about 98 until that time.

Although arcades have and pins especially have gone up in value, nothing like what nes and snes games did,so I guess I chose the wrong hobby.

Still think there is no cooler feeling that playing an arcade game at your house though. Lol.

  2. Off topic a bit,but I was shocked to find out the founder of Wata is only 24. Also has complete cib nes and n64 sets. Also near cibs sets of snes, game boy,and game cube and a bunch of other stuff..4,000+ game collection.

Just wondering how is it possible to amass that much stuff at such an early age and in a time where stuff started to really boom.

Not bashing the guy,but just scratching my head on how he was able to fund all these purchases and create wata.

Rich family? Found a ton of great deals? Trading? Won the lotto?  🤷🏻‍♂️

  3. Lots of coin spent on all that. Lots.... But when you make a lot and/or have sweet hookups you can make things happen!

Hell you could partner up with Bronty and the Atari fan guy (Atarifan2 on NA I think) who had a lot of game art and open up a video game art museum.

  4. I know,a weird mishmash of stuff I’m looking for.

For the MM 1 foil sticker Wily variant,I want to find one in great shape. Does not have to be perfect, but I don’t want one that looks like it was involved in a rousing game of hackeysack.

Also looking for a factory sealed Game Boy Advance SP NES edition.

And lastly I’m looking for beat up MM nes stuff. Boxes and carts.

I would like the boxes to be intact, but not necessarily mandatory.

Carts with torn or faded labels....gimmie. The crappier the better lol.

Looking to get them at cheaper prices due to condition and hopefully someone out there is just looking to get rid of that kind of stuff. Worth a shot anyway.

    Anyway,watcha got?

    Take care and stay safe!

thats how i do it 😛 im not a sealed collector though i prefer it opened.

I only collect sealed Mega Man games from the classic series, but if they are too expensive or difficult to obtain I just go for cib.

Like I’ve only seen a sealed MM V maybe 3-4 times in the last 10 years. I think a graded one once.

None were cheap then,I can’t imagine how much those would go for now.

yep 😛  i got it a few years ago. from a user on NA.  and tbh i probably over paid for it a bit.  but it was worth it 😛

Is it for sale? Lol. Kidding. Hard to find a really nice copy.

I’ve spent a decent amount on a few games.

    My top 3:

    Mega Man 1 oval seal graded 85 - $2500

    Mega Man 5 - graded 85 - $2500

Mega Man V - Nice Shape cib $1100.

All of these games I paid for by selling other gaming items so I use “recycled money” rather than the money out of my bank account haha.

  7. Doing a little bit of boasting on my part....like the title says,I just completed the game and got all the items in the game without any help, which to be honest,I am surprised I did.

I had the itch to play Metroid last week but wasn’t able to do so until this past Saturday. I really was not too concerned for getting every item, I just wanted to get the unaided completion which I had never done before.

I have always liked Metroid but would get really frustrated with it as a kid because I would get so lost. Then subsequently I would get fed up with the game and ultimately give up. Many of the rooms looked too similar to me and that’s how I would get lost.

While many of those rooms still look similar,I was more observant this time and was able to discern my surroundings a lot better and that helped me find everything.

I knew I had to find the varia suit, the screw attack, the ice beam, and a majority of the missiles and energy tanks to beat the game....I just did not think I would find all the missiles and that’s what really surprised me and makes this victory more satisfying. When I got to 240 missiles was when I thought to myself that I can get a 100% completion and I went for it.

I would have beaten the game a lot sooner had I been able to find the varia suit and screw attack quickly. Took me forever to find those, especially the varia suit. Claimed the varia suit yesterday and the screw attack tonight. (They hid the latter really well for sure.)

Overall,it took me from Saturday evening to tonight to conquer it. I did not get the best ending but i’m elated with my accomplishment nonetheless.

    End boasting. 😜🤣

NINERS!!!!! The catch III, Aaron Rodgers leads an epic comeback drive putting GB up by 4 with less than 2 minutes. Jimmy G lines up at the GB 22 yard line and throws a beautiful pass to Kittle in the end zone and he catches it as time expires!

KC goes down to Tennessee 80-0 and then Mahomes wakes up and comes back to win the game 350-80

I just see Bosa,Buckner, and co being so disruptive today. I think Rodgers is going to be sacked and pressured all day.

  9. Excited to see my Niners with a shot at the Super Bowl once again.

It’s going to be a closer game than last go around, but SF is a little healthier now and I think it’s going to be tough sledding for GB dealing with that D-line.  I can see GB winning if SF turns the ball over a few times and gets into a spot where their defense is on the field a lot,but I do think that SF is going to play great defense and will pound the run game which should propel them to a win.

The KC/Tenn game....totally different styles and it will be very interesting to see which team can impose their game plan on the other. If either team gets up more than two scores,it’s just about game over. I want to say Tenn will emerge, but KC should be extremely motivated after what happened last year and with more playoff experience under their belt,I think they come out on top in a really hard fought game.

  10. I’m sure I am in the vast minority on this. I see how people can really like the game. And it can be really fun. But here’s the deal breaker for me.....the “rubber band AI”.

The game penalizes you for being good at the game and rewards players who are bad. It absolutely destroys the fun of this game for me. The last thing I want to see is me get hit with some turtle shell or other bs at the last second and lose first place when I’ve been leading all race. I know this is not much of a problem on the easy courses, but the harder courses....geez.

And for this post,I’m referring to Mario Kart 8,although I’m sure a lot of the games in the series are similar.

    4 simple questions. From the original Mega Man games (1-11), what is your favourite;

    • Stage
    • Robot Master
    • Song
    • Weapon

Golden rule because I never learn.

Centaur Man (I like the whimsical feel of it)

     Gutsman (no reason lol)

Metal Man (could choose from a ton of them, but it’s so classic)

Metal Blade (lots of great and unique ones to choose from, but this one is so useful it’s hard not to choose it)

I don’t have the games with me currently but @gutsman004 knocked it out of the park. He got me several (if not all) the games I’d mentioned wanting and the condition is fantastic. Added several NES and Genesis games to my fleet.

You are welcome @Foochie776! You were my SS and you got me a bunch of titles on my list so thank you!

Also,I just realized I forgot to put one of your games in the box so I will send that out before the end of the week so be on the lookout.

Here is the pic of the gaming goodness and a bonus pic of my video game tree. All ornaments hand made by me.

Thank you Secret Santa and everyone else involved with making this event so amazing.

  13. Okay so I’ve played quite a bit of Mega Man X7 for the past several days and here are my thoughts revisiting it after not playing it for s long time.

it’s not as bad as my initial revisit, but it is still the worst game in the X series.

The music is good (as you would expect) and the ride armors you get to use are cool. The auto aim feature is cool and the glide feature with X’s leg armor is sweet as is Axl’s floating. Playing as any of the three Maverick hunters is fun although X and Axl are more enjoyable in my opinion.

There is definitely a learning curve to this game. The button layout is awkward and takes getting used to. While a few are pretty cool, most of the level designs are just weird. One thing that kills this game is the camera angle and limited movement of that. Some stages or parts of those stages you can rotate the camera for a better look and some you can’t. Often being able to rotate the camera would be super helpful but no dice and it makes gameplay awkward in some spots. What bothers me the most is not being able to move the camera to look up.

While I do like most of the Maverick designs, most of the actual Maverick battles are more annoying than anything although fighting Vanishing Gungaroo and Tornado Tonion are pretty fun.

Speaking of Mavericks, most of the voice actors for the Mavericks were great, which is offset by the voice actors for X,Zero,Signas, and Alia, which were absolutely atrocious.

The reploid rescue system was brought back althought it probably would have been better off had it not. The difficulty on rescuing them is skewed. Most of them are easy to rescue but some are very easily killed which results in an annoying game reset to try again.

    Overall,not a terrible game,but very flawed.

I'll put you to the Pepsi Challenge on that one.
I can rattle off a list of 100 Atari games and there's no way that 95 are terrible.

Or for quick reference, pull a game list from any of the recent Atari Flashback units.   Maybe 25% of the games on there suck, tops.

Fair point. There were a lot I didn’t like though. Many were more fun than a lot of people will give credit to.

I'm the same way with RPGs. I'm not even sure it's a matter of free time. It's just that since I've been playing more NES I've developed more of a taste for skill based gameplay and the immediate gratification provided by such. 50 hour RPGs don't interest me that much anymore.

I’m pretty much in the same boat, sans the DQ games. I am itching to play FF and Crystalis though.
