And when she let's out a huge sigh for no reason. There's always a reason. That's when your supposed to ask what's on her mind, or if there's anything you can do for her. It's called an unfulfilled wish. You're welcome. 😉

Excellent reminder of why I am happily divorced...like legit happy.  Women are hella complicated (men are too but this type of stuff ugh).

  2. Hey there VGSers, any of yall still kicking the tires with Pokemon go?  I'm a pretty heavy player currently, just rolled over lvl34.

There are some fun events right now that lead up to fighting Giovanni the Rocket Go boss.  Finally got to him this morning and he's a PITA.  I might be too low level to take him down, but had his Articuno in the yellow so there is hope.

Any of you out there after him, or did you already smoke him?

Fun times, but burning through so many revives ugh.

  3. Welp mine is not very exciting.  It's purple - probably my least favorite color and is tagged with a mysterious "B".  The VGS gods had something in mind when they assigned me this elusive highly uncommon avatar.  Do they know I am a bastard?  I do like Buicks hmmm...I think Biscuits & Gravy is the best breakfast food...maybe my posts are Boring - really hard to tell what's going on here.  It's got a purple tellatubby vibe, but am acclimating to it the best I can.  If only I could change it...nah Gloves wouldn't allow it.

  4. @Link - it looks like you unfortunately got a "not fresh" one, perhaps the skin wasn't crispy because of the gallon of mayo on it?  Lol, I'm guessing if your sides were crispy that it was sitting a bit - your bun looks flat too.  For my trial, the bun was a highlight, delicious brioche or w/e it is, I didn't have any concerns with the crispiness on mine - it was highly enjoyable.

  5. Well first of all, teeth are crazy important - crazy important.  There are only 3 ways to get a brain infection (I believe) - eyes, nose, and teeth.  My stepdad had to have emergency brain surgery after letting tooth infections go being stubborn - he had permanent damage and is now disabled.

You need to get this taken care of one way or another asap...I'd also suggest to get it pulled from the feedback provided so far.

Yes, you will need to obtain the money in some capacity:

    1. Sell stuff on here/ebay - you can get money in a paypal account within 48 hours if you hustle HARD, and to your bank account in a week or less (from my experience).  I don't like selling on CL/FB, but if I was in your shoes I'd consider it.  Your feedback on getting pennies is a bit silly, to be honest - you just won't get market value is all but 75-80% should not be a prob.

    2. Continue shopping around to find the best deal possible with your insurance - most of those places also offer reasonable payment plans for this very reason.

    3. Take out a personal loan.

    4. Exhaust the options of trying the free/student-level outlets you mentioned - confirm you have to wait 14 months or whatever it is.

Also - have you talked with your insurance company - are you sure they don't cover some of that bill?  That doesn't sound right...

This may sound harsh, but while $1800 is a huge bill to unexpectedly cover, this is part of managing adult life :(.   I won't add much to that statement because it's a very crappy reality, but I've had to take out unexpected personal loans, pull from my 401k, sell off stuff etc.  While $1800 is terrible, it genuinely could be a LOT worse.

  6. Hell yeah, just caught this - long time RL player here, I play it 3-4 times a week easy - on PC.  Wow, you got hella good ranks, I'm mainly a 2's player and hold P2/P3/D1 pretty well - never hit D2 yet.  Very interested in improving and climbing the ranks - such a dope game.  I struggle with getting good tm8s, it feels about 50/50 at best getting someone I jive with (or someone that doesn't play like it's 1v1).

  7. So me and the kiddo snagged kids meals yesterday and of course, they come in these white "mystery" type bags that say a # and a year - pretty cool.

His was clearly a car of sorts before we opened them, mine was clearly a figure I thought yes I got a nugget dude.

Nope, it was a purple guy I don't recall darnit lol, and he got a dog driving a car - not sure where either are from off the top of my head.  Cool to give it a shot though!

Is this quarter thing you guys are talking about the thing that unlocks and holds your quarter captive in the cart until you bring it bavk to it's coral? We've had those at my local Shoprite simce the 90's

Lol yup!  Boggles my mind a bit because a homeless guy or a heathen could pay 25 cents for 1 (or many) carts - load em into the back of a truck and take off.  Actually surprised the peeps that sell metal for coin don't do it...

  9. Aldi's is awesome, on a limited basis.

Fun fact - they are one of the highest ranked markets for baby stuff - diapers, formula etc.  Solid prices too, I only found Walmart to be somewhat close.

For processed stuff, they rock and are literally dirt cheap.  It was mentioned above as "half the cost" and it's not a joke - I can stock up on canned foods, frozen goods, cupboard type items - an entire cart full for like $60-75.

They have an extensive gluten-free section, including some crazy-good snickerdoodle cookies (I recommend and I can eat gluten).

They have surprisingly quality steaks air sealed at very fair prices.

Their produce/raw meats are decent - definitely good for shopping on a budget.

Their quarter for a cart system is pretty rad, until you show up without a quarter.  How many of us have a designated "Aldi's quarter" in our car?

Can usually be in and out in 30 minutes flat.

  10. All our Popeye's here in Iowa, I believe, are all fresh/new builds so they are pretty nice and clean from my limited exposure.

Funny story of a Popeyes visit like a year ago.  I ordered some chicken and a large pop - the drive-thru guy goes "Hey, for 40 cents more we'll upgrade that to a gallon of pop".  I'm like what, seriously, okay sure whatever.  Sure enough, they hand me a plastic bag/jug with a screw on cap.  Certainly couldn't drink it all lmao.

Don't even want to think of how many calories that was!

Would I wait in crazy lines, no.  Would I recommend the sandwich to anyone who likes a chicken sandwich?  Hell yes.

Ah good point, I worried lines would be out of control but happy to report that nope relatively normal wait times as well!

P.S. -  I mentioned I had mine plain, well they originally gave me a regularly dressed one and when I got the corrected one they told me to keep the old one.  Chopped the chicken up into a nice little treat for my 2 old pups, they also approve 😉

I've been to Cedar Rapids! While I was there, I went the The Quarter Barrel. Pretty good food, decent beer, but the games were unfortunately not free to play. (That didn't stop me though).

Indeed - a very nice little barcade/brewery!  I had the Pac-Man high score for a while, but have since been annihilated.  Great pizza and food too, I live about 5-10 from there 🙂

  13. Gotta say, this Chicken sandwich is pretty great, especially for the $3.99 price tag.

I was a bit bummed that the "spicy" apparently comes from the mayo they use, so being a plain kinda guy I went with a plain regular one (I like ketchup on em, don't hate!).

I was impressed walking in with high expectations, so thought I'd share.

Arch - you mentioned the cajun fries which peaked my interest.  I expected some spice to them, which oddly was there visually, but virtually none as I enjoyed them.  Decent fries tho.

I'm going to be in Iowa over the long weekend.  Just south of Des Moines if anyone is in the area and wants to have a beer.  🍻

@Boosted52405 @Sign Collector Guy Where are you guys located?

Cedar Rapids here, about 2 hours away from DSM.  If you're in DSM hanging out, I'd recommend a Barcade called "Up/Down".  They have lots of arcades/pins/drinks - a few years back they had an N64 with Mariokart on a projector it was a cool place.

  15. I do let my 2yo use my tablet for YouTube Kids only, from time to time.  As a single Dad, sometimes it's needed for various reasons, but very careful on when/how long.  I also like to let him "earn" it, by putting all his toys away or helping with laundry or cooking or dishes.  I'm surprised how much educational type stuff he naturally gravitates to on there, and sings/dances frequently.

On a side note, I found out after Halloween last Thursday that kids really do "bounce off walls" when they eat candy...I let him enjoy 1 tiny bag of M&Ms from trick or treating and dude was wired haha (I normally do not give sweets).
