  1. Easily one of my favorite games of all time. Easily top 10, probably top 5, maybe even top 3. It feels like 2D platforming perfected. Hard for me to come up with a game with better level designs plus a masterpiece soundtrack and amazingly fluid gameplay. It's not just nostalgia talking either, truly holds up ridiculously well today. Even the graphics still look fantastic. 10/10 and if I give it more I would.

  2. Atari 2600 - Pitfall, Combat (Was my dad's system not technically mine but I did play it some as a kid in the 80s.)

NES - Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt (Got it for Christmas 1989)

Game Boy - Kirby's Dream Land, Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Got it 1993 or 1994)

SNES - Super Mario All-Stars + World (Got it March 1995 with birthday money)

N64 - Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64 (Got the system March 1997 with birthday money, but parents wouldn't let me have any games til Sept - what's the point of that??)

PS1 - Spyro the Dragon (Got it March 2000 for my birthday)

GBA - Mario Kart Super Circuit, Golden Sun (first console I got on release day, June 2001)

GCN - Super Smash Bros Melee (Another one I got on release, Nov 2001. Actually smash bros didn't come out til a few weeks after launch so I bought the system without any games)

Xbox - Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (Got it 2002, bought it exclusively for this game, ended up playing a few others then selling it for a PS2 two years later)

PS2Kingdom Hearts (Sold my Xbox for it, 2004)

DS - Super Mario 64 DS (Got on launch day Nov 2004)

Wii  - Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, ExciteTruck (Got it the day after Christmas 2006, a month after launch. Got super lucky, was hard to get)

PS3 - Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Got it 2008 specifically for this game but ended up a lot of others)

PSP - Dissidia: Final Fantasy, Daxter (Got it specifically for Dissidia but the system came with Daxter which I never even played, honestly don't even remember what year I got it but I estimate 2009?)

3DS - Pilotwings Resort, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (Got Summer 2011)

Wii U - Nintendo Land, New Super Mario Bros U (Got it Christmas 2012)

    PS4 - Fallout 4, Tearaway: Unfolded (Got 2016, upgraded to PS4 Pro in 2018)

Switch - Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Bomberman R (Got launch day March 2017)

    Level 1-1, I believe.

I think it's the first doors you go into. You go up a vine and then you can choose to go left or right. Right is the normal way, but left leads you to a tall wall. You have to super jump up to the left in order to reach the secret. Toad can't reach up there....???

If I'm wrong, then I need to apologize profusely to Toad.

Yup you definitely can reach it with Toad. I did it in my video 🙂

Well... as a child, if it wasn't a Mario game I'm not sure if I would have liked it as much, or known about it? The library for us wasn't super expanse and there were 3 Mario games. Out of like 10 total.

But I get what you're saying...

Yeah I meant today it would be known as a hidden gem, a very obscure but good title. But back in the 80s no one would've probably played it. Mario or not, it's still one of my favorite games.

Right on. I'm a Luigi/Princess and Toad for World 2 type person.

But Toad though... Can't jump so because you can't even get the first secret with him I don't bother much.... at least.... the one I'm thinking of? If I recall he can't even super jump high enough to get to where you need to throw some bombs..... so yeah... for that. Seeya Toad! 😛

The shortcut in level 1? Or one in world 2?

The hell is going on here???

    Nobody @'d us @docile tapeworm 🤣

Obviously SMB2USA is one that tops the list.

But this does beg the question.... would SMB2USA been as good with DIFFERENT characters????

Yes if the gameplay is the same it wouldn't matter. But it wouldn't be remembered like it is now. At best it probably would've been featured in some "hidden gems" videos on YT.

What are some games that you think shouldn't have been included in a series?

The two that initially came to mind were Super Mario Land 3 & Super Mario World 2.

They do belong in a series, just not the ones they were originally named. Yoshi and Wario each have their own series. But I knew what you meant.
