I'll nominate something that is already in my backlog.  The first Discworld book.

The Colour of Magic (Discworld, #1)

It's spawned a franchise that is still going decades later, revered by fans.  And it's rather short and manageable.  I have never read my copy, but this would be a good excuse.

That cover art looks really cool.  Never read their stuff but now I am interested.

Few people probably realize it existed.

I'm sure @zeppelin03 could make you a club leader.  When he was running it the focus seemed to be on gaming related books, but I'm sure people would be willing to broaden the scope @Hammerfestus

I'm glad I logged on to remove a FS listing and caught this.

Anyone is welcome to take over and become the club leader.  My priorities shifted pretty soon after creating it and I am not really active here currently.  If an admin/mod can change the leader it would be great.  I wasn't sure how to change it it when someone else expressed interest in taking over last year.  The club could definitely use a reboot though.

I'll keep an eye on the thread for a couple days so a leadership transfer can occur.

  3. Pokemon VCR

I have a Pokemon VCR for offer.  It includes the VCR, Pikachu plushie remote, standard remote, paperwork, and box.

The VCR and Pikachu remote are in good overall condition. The box and paperwork show wear.  The unit was tested and working when I last owned a CRT. I've had it tucked away in a closet since and would like to pass it along.  Feel free to make an offer.  I would prefer to send this out complete but am open to parting it out.

lol ebay is a joke. i think i should just step away from selling there for a while. i been buying/selling on there for 15+ years but the past couple years is just leaving me sour... buying too.. i havent won an auction without paying near bin prices in.... i cant even remember...

thats the other thing i had this item listed at $x bin and it sat for a month. the auction ended a dollar less lol smh...

I stopped doing auctions altogether on there. Just puting a BIN w/ best offer.  The auctions just seem like more hassle and take longer.  Of course I end up having to do price drops to manage it too.

    eBay is annoying all around.

Just ordered my third set of joycons. Getting that extended warrantee with joycons is absolutely crucial.

Who are you buying through for the warranty? I normal don't bother with those but Joycons seem gauranteed to break.

  6. I still use Wikis like UESP and another for Stardew Valley.  They are well organized and provide concise information.  This wasn't something I experienced with gamefaqs.  Often times the index didn't help and visual aids like video would make a big difference.  When an entire dungeon in a 2D RPG looks the same a poor description is a real hassle.

YouTube is just easier to reference now.  I get to actually see something happen and if I want text there are captions and hopefully a description.

  7. 9 for me.  This game is fantastic and I remember really enjoying it on PlayStation.  I got one of those LCD screens for the PSOne and spent a lot of time with this on the go. Music and gameplay are both great.  Though I have no real desire to return to this series.

If it were the first game I would probably have given it a 10 because of nostalgia.. It's the game that got me to order CCS catalogs.  I had a phase in middle school during this time where I wore a lot of skater tees and etnees.  I couldn't skate so it was short lived.

Isn't this the one that added manuals?  That was big.

I thought so too considering the seller had some younger kids, but said it was her 15 year olds system.  Also some interesting pictures left on the SD card too which made me check the other red one I got the week earlier and it was loaded.  Nothing great or interesting, but you'd think people would erase the pics of their kids off something they're selling.

I'm aware of CoP, had it before on there years ago, solid game and found it more fun than the Switch re-release too.  Like I said, need to find the missing bits.  Also a nice matching blue stylus for that 2DS too seeing that my kid attitude standing still seems to want to hold onto that crystal red one I found first.  I'll need to get a stylus and a 2nd oem power supply for it as I'll sell it to cover keeping the other.

I always assumed a factory reset was standard when people sell electronics.  It's kind of scary to think of the personal information people are leaving on their electronics.

It’s not surprising that they won’t release the rom. The rom probably doesn’t belong to them and as a professional business entity, it’s possibly a legal issue for them.

I bet they don’t care if the rom gets dumped or distributed they just aren’t allowed to be the one to distribute it.

I get that they can't release it itself.  I just seen a number of games come out with a rom purchase option.  Always a nice option to have.

Couldn’t someone with the working cart just dump it and then you reflash your non working cart?

That may end up being the workaround for the problem.  The ROM will likely become available one way or another.

I find it a little funny that the company about game preservation and sales isn't willing to provide the ROM that would help preserve the game.  I like what they do overall but that one's an odd choice to me. Nothing wrong with backups in multiple formats.

  11. I have played half of it and enjoyed it.  It was a game I used for an all-nighter to shift my sleep to overnights then just never got back to.

The story is the usual FF stuff where you are going to be lost for a while as the story unfolds.  I actually prefer how it is a linear journey.  It gives me a path to follow and enjoy the story.  Also, the battle system was different than the others I have played.

If you have an Xbox One the upgrades for backwards compatibility were really well done.  I'm not sure if they were on X only or the S as well.

This is the sort of thing I'm personally looking to add. We may consider taking on more event team people to not overwork the existing contest runners.

That's great to hear. Nintendo has done this sort of thing with weekend splatfest and Mario Kart 8 tournaments.  It seems like a great format.

Now I just want to race an OOT randomizer.  Who can beat my 20 hour time?  I'm bad at routing...

  13. I like the hybrid idea. I'm not really interested in playing a nes or snes game every week so I never jumped in.   Mixing in some N64 or other stuff would give a bit more variety.

There are a number of randomizers now.  Maybe a seed for Ocarina of Time gets sent out and people time their playthrough.  There are lot of other games with them too.

Yeah, that has been my default since I got the Steam Controller a few years back.

It's a really slick interface, and if you get into customization you can add any of your non-Steam content to it, as well.

There are a bunch of great PC front-ends out there (another favorite is LaunchBox)

That's awesome.  I may have to add my GOG games and BOTW. Then I would never need to leave Big Picture Mode.

I got the Steam controller when it was on sale for $5 but never gave it a fair chance.  May need to change that.

  15. I turned on big picture mode as the default for steam and I've got to say it's great.  I turn on the computer and it loads right into a TV style UI.  My library, the shop, and other features can all be navigated with my Xbox One controller.  It basically turns the PC into a console.  It's worth a try for anyone looking to bridge the gap between consoles and PC.

This a collection of some of the most 90's games I've ever seen.

I checked the listing just because of this comment.  I am not disappointed.  Reboot was such a cool show back then.

    Good luck with sale.
