  1. Geral and genre scoreboards for the round 1 have been posted.
  2. Final standings posted. Welcome back @Tablew/chairs, we missed you!
  3. Championship Pool may be doable one handed since it is a matter of taps and input timing. I will take a look at it this weekend.
  4. It does indeed. And as Gui said, sometimes we take some liberties with the genres to bring in games that are more fun to the contest. And this one is plenty of fun!
  5. Final standings posted. I would have loved to just let people go as far as they can, but this game is entirely too long so I had to come up with a ruleset that would allow for fast attempts. If TMNT2 shows up, I may adapt these rules to use there, but allowing for going for longer, or maybe starting at a later stage using a cheat code.
  6. We will use the NTSC version, not the famicom one. And it is fine about the bonus levels. You will still pause at the end of stage 16, which is a bonus level.

  8. Ladies, gentlemen, squids, welcome for the final round of phase 1 of the 2024 VGS NES Weekly Contest! To challenge our players in such an important round and to represent the Puzzle Genre, we bring forth... CLU CLU LAND! The rules for this week are: Play till you beat stage 16 (the first bonus stage) or till game over, whichever comes first Pause the game on the score screen after all the bonus have been computed and take your picture Highest stage progress wins, with highest score used as tie breaker Genre: Puzzle The contest ends Sunday, 04/28/24 at 11 PM VGS time. Your user name MUST be written or typed on a piece of paper and be in the picture for your score to be valid. The entire TV screen, or computer monitor if you are playing on an emulator, MUST be in the picture for the score to be valid. No partial screenshots will be considered or accepted. No screenshots by hitting "print screen" on a computer will be allowed. You must take a picture of your computer monitor. There may be instances where this will be acceptable, but it will be at the discretion of myself and the contest organizers. Also, the use of turbo controllers is forbidden, as well as any cheat codes, Game Genies, slow motion functions, or save states if playing on an emulator. Also, we will only be using NTSC systems for the contests. The use of PAL systems will NOT be allowed. Good luck everyone and have fun.
  9. Picture isn't showing up for me. I remember seeing it last Sunday, so I will temporarily accept your score. Will be nice if you can try to post the picture again.
  10. The extra points are added when the door starts to open. I can see and invalidate the score. The rules have also been covering that.
  11. As long as you pause before the door starts opening, all is good.
  12. The game awards you extra points during the cut scene. We need the picture as you defeated the boss for the score to count.
  13. It is intended to be the final score..
  14. So you died to max the health bar. Clever. I will have to change that so lives have more weight. There. Now a life is worth more than a full health bar and thus managing to conserve it will play a bigger part on the challenge!
  15. This ought to be a very fun challenge since the points from extra live and remaining health can tip the scale a lot. Thought this would be more fun than have you guys beat the game.

  18. As long as the turbo and slow down features are not used, the NES Advantage is totally legal on the VGS NES Weekly Contest. Of course, we operate on the honour system, as we have no real way to check if it was used or not. We will trust you all not to.
