Show off your projects thread

We have a lot of talented people on VGS, so I thought we could use this thread to showcase and discuss the various projects we're involved in.

I just finished writing a collection of short stories, titled Stevetown Dealings. The stories somewhat highlight some of the societal problems here in Taiwan.

License to talk about soap? Don’t mind if I do!

I’ve been making some Valentines soaps.  The brown is Cherry Almond with goats milk.  The brown is caused by the vanillan in the fragrance.

This one is Rose, the top is covered in dried rose buds, camomile petals and lavender buds.  It’s a method called Hand Milled, it gives it texture and makes it look rustic.

I retired from YouTube a few months ago after 15 years and over 500 videos. However, I still occasionally make videos when I have time. A couple months ago In October, I made a 20 minute video comparing the Dreamcast and GameCube versions of Sonic Adventure. It explains why the GameCube version, despite the hate it has received over the years, is technically the superior version. Aside from the upgraded visuals (like the enhanced water effects and draw distance, added shadows, less pop up, and the added floor in the Chaos 4 battle) and the extra content, the video also shows some mistakes in the Dreamcast version that were corrected in the GameCube version.

Since I retired my YouTube Channel, I haven't released the video but it is still on my Computer (both versions played using their original consoles, not Emulators):

Of course, there are a lot more additions and improvements than those. Maybe I'll upload the video on a different site someday, or possibly show it and some of my other projects at a convention.

Note: I played a later Dreamcast version (North America V 1.1, "Sega All-Stars") that has several improvements over earlier Dreamcast versions, so I wasn't being unfair or biased in this comparison video. The GameCube version, coming out four years later, just has a lot more improvements.

I shared this on discord but I am super happy to have saved my favorite lamp! It's brass and able to be raised or lowered to different heights, so it's perfect by the couch.

When I got it from the thrift, I polished the shell, cleaned it up and started using it, but it was killing lightbulbs and the last one it took out there was a strong melting smell, not comfortable with it being in use I decided it break it down and get a new socket and cord.

Parts replaced, the socket had a removable brass knob that I saved and transplanted on the new one, I almost went for a pull switch but I love that knob!

Replaced the cord with this braided one from Menards, it's a little shorter than stock but no worries. Also sanded the base because it was looking nasty, much better now.

Turned out great!
