WATA 'select your country' and shipping questions

Hi VGS,

I am a newcomer to the hobby (coming from graded collectible cards) and have the following questions:

  • I am from the UK and would like to buy an item from US eBay and ship it directly to WATA - is this possible on WATA's part? I assume why not, but I couldn't find whether there's any need to include documents within the package or not (since submissions are done online).
  • The form is asking for 'select your country' and then for shipping address separately. Is the former the country I am shipping from? Meaning that they will provide me with pre-paid shipping label (included in the price total).

Thanks a lot 🙂

Welcome, nice to see another Brit make their way to VGS! 😉

Glad to see others as well! Do you have any experience with grading from the UK? I am not too strict on the company choice so would be OK with UK based graded as well !

Welcome , are you aware that Wata is scam now?

How come? I really liked their capsule design and info provided on the label 😞

Edit: double post, oops.

Its not about the capsule design , its about their general service. For example i paid them more than $300 USD for a speedrun 35 business day service and after  5 months i still don´t get my games and i don´t even know when i am gonna get them , i am not the only one there´s a lot of people like me . Check the thread "wata turn around times"  and you will see what i am talking about

I see. That sure is frustrating. In the TCG hobby, the two main companies take close to a year with their return submissions now (express even), so I would probably tolerate that.

I was reading, however, about the company fraud which made me evaluate the choice slightly. I really like how it looks encapsulated though, so will think about it a bit more.

I've seen folks in Cananda/UK have sellers ship their game plus the order's grading slip packed in, straight to wata. I guess it's just up to the seller if they're comfortable with that.

I would think it's a bit risky to drop ship a raw game directly to WATA without inspecting it first, unless you really trust the seller.

I know you can open a vault account with PWCC and ship graded cards directly to it, and I think they were supposed to expand it to games, but I'm not sure if they have done it yet.

This is exactly what I struggle with right now haha. I strongly prefer WATA's case/label to the others out there (as long as there are no dog hairs or fruit flies encapsulated lol). But all the shit that's came out about them and their continuing ability to lie to consumers doesn't make me want to spend any more money with them.

Holding out until 2022 with hopes that CGC comes out with a good case.

Is this the same CGC that's been grading Comics and now cards? In the TCG hobby they became famous extremely quickly, so much that they surpassed BGS in amount of ebay listings pretty much most of the past few months. Excited to see what they come with for VG grading !

Their cards don't hold their value though, everyone still wants PSA. Hopefully that's not the case for video games because they are a legit company, unlike some of the other random ones out there...

Although they hold value less than PSA does, they are better than BGS in terms of anything lower than a 9. Also, CGC is the only one willing to grade misprints so the misprint community is crazy over CGC afaik 😄 Nonetheless, a solid company in my view!

I asked them and I got this reply. Just saving you 10 days waiting for their reply.

Hi,

Yes, you can definitely submit the factory sealed case as is, and we will carefully remove the games for grading. You will need to create a form for all the games in the box, and leave a note on the order that you would like all of the games removed from the case for grading.

As far as having the seller ship them directly to us that would have to be arranged with the seller and they would have to include your submission form.

Take care,

The Wata Team
