Aaron64 | 37
As the title asks, is rubbing alcohol fine for sticker residue or should I use WD-40? Edited June 3, 2021 by Aaron64
RH | 4,898
I recommend using rubbing alcohol as a last resort. In the case of plastics, it slightly breaks it down which means for darker or clear plastics, it leaves a hazy. You will especially see this on dark gray/black plastic and I completely destroyed a Saturn case cover once using alcohol. I recommend WD-40, Goo Gone or the stronger preference on this site of Bestine, which you will have to special order, but works well on most surfaces, including matte cardboard boxes if you are careful. zoiks66 | 72
Use Bestine or Un-Du (same ingredient as Bestine, but easier to find).
inasuma | 1,203
For just residue, I've found Un-Du to work great. WD-40 is also fine.
TDIRunner | 2,731
As mentioned above, I agree that Goo Gone works well, but not all Goo Gone is the same. I've had good luck with the liquid Goo Gone in the yellow cans. But I've also used the aerosol Goo Gone in a red can and it can ruin clear jewel cases.
