Gloves | 12,591 Administrator ·
You making mistakes isn't reason enough for us to enable people to hide. You can't delete posts because if you could then someone could post something hateful or illegal then just delete it and there'd be no evidence it ever existed. We delete them ourselves and at our discretion to keep the community clean. Counter-suggestion: Stop making so many mistakes. 3 Link to comment https://www.videogamesage.com/forums/topic/4990-add-delete-option/#findComment-115163 Share on other sites

While I agree with your reasoning, doesn't the ability to edit ones' posts offer similar "protection" regarding evidence being gone? Or is there always a backup in the database somewhere of whatever previous versions/edits of a post were? If not, someone doesn't need a delete option to cover their tracks, just the willingness to go back and edit all of their previous posts/replies down to one or no characters. If we delete it, it's gone. Link to comment https://www.videogamesage.com/forums/topic/4990-add-delete-option/#findComment-115168 Share on other sites
TylerBarnes | 184
I prefer forums that do not allow deleting. Even people without ill intent can screw things up with continuity issues. the Chipmusic forums just use a graveyard section for spam, hateful threads, etc. Link to comment https://www.videogamesage.com/forums/topic/4990-add-delete-option/#findComment-115180 Share on other sites
Tulpa | 3,771
Deleting would make some of the auctions become chaos. Link to comment https://www.videogamesage.com/forums/topic/4990-add-delete-option/#findComment-115568 Share on other sites
