Ferris Bueller 471 Member ·
This game is done, they already made copies, it is basically a preorder and the goal is super low. Back it, make it happen, get a new game for the Super Nintendo. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/227483045/alien-cat-2-snes-sf?ref=user_menu
erac 78 Member ·
You should know that at least the SNES Alien Cat 2 demo was made using stolen code from Mega Cat. Valdir Salgueiro, after parting ways with us, took with him our proprietary SNES code and used it to work on this for PCSD games. It is highly unlikely they'd have rewritten it based on the other SNES toolchains available, and Valdir is listed on the KS page. Do not support the thief. 1 3

I did not know any of that and makes this a bummer. Thanks for sharing.

erac 78 Member ·
I don't think Alien Cat 1 has a SNES port? This also doesn't concern any of the other ports of Alien Cat 2. The NES/Genesis/SMS/etc versions have no issue.
Sumez 2,617 Member ·
What was the code in question that was stolen?
erac 78 Member ·
The entire SNES toolchain, from example projects to various libs/etc, letting one write SNES games using cc65.
Sumez 2,617 Member ·
Man, it's kind of sad that there's stuff like that today protected by commercial interests. But libsfx is a C library for SNES with a permissive license, so if it's not already in their plans, hopefully it can help these guys rewriting their code to allow a commercial release with no issues between them and Megacat. If it's not already done, it should be one of their kickstarter goals.
