  1. Looks like it isn't just at Gamestop. Ozgameshop have it for pre order https://www.ozgameshop.com/nintendo-switch-games/hidden-objects-collection-nintendo-switch-game?gclid=eaiaiqobchmizykmkn7d6givmxwrch2vwg5neaqyayabeglqevd_bwe

I think with the Switch being region free it's going to be harder for these types of games to become valuable like previous systems. I think the LRG & SRG will probably end up being more valuable simply due to the fact that a lot have capped print runs so in theory only x amount of people will ever be able to own a physical version of the game.

  2. I got a newsletter today from iam8bit saying they’re doing a physical release of Untitled Goose Game, pre orders now open. Also available from skyboubd games.

I’d never heard of the game, but apparently it’s from an Australian developer. So I should probably show my support and grab a copy 🙂

I watched it and found it to be a total boring snooze fest. I was expecting more of how a retro store is run and how items are priced and what not. This documentary was not what I had expected.

Yeah the focus is more around digital vs physical and whether game stores will become the next Blockbuster. That’s what I found interesting about it.

I'm having trouble telling from the pictures, but does it convert from the base back to regular ship with only minor alterations, or is that two completely separate builds?

I have this set and can confirm it can easily convert to the ship. The instructions continue on with the conversion steps.

This set is amazing and one of my favourite builds. It’s really big though, so you will need some shelf space if you’re going to display it. The box is also huge but really takes you back to those pirate days.

The ppp is also good value because there aren’t heaps of little pieces bloating the count.

  5. Anyone else seen this documentary? I just finished watching it the other day and really enjoyed it. Video game documentaries can be hit or miss but I think this one had some really interesting discussions around physical vs digital and will the current kids really care about collecting physical games going forward.

We don't have anything in Australia like the retro game shops shown in this documentary, so it was interesting to see they're still pretty popular.

The Saturn V was a really compelling build.  Lots of really neat ways for bricks to connect for what, in the 90's, probably would have been the most boring set imaginable to construct.  The LEGO set designers have come a long way in their brick-connection creativity.

Really looking forward to Voltron as a family build, since we watched the entire remake series together.

Yeah I loved this build too. It never got boring and I was amazed at the techniques used to get such a nice shape.

I found the Voltron set a little boring because it got repetitive. As a family I think it will be great because you can each do a part then bring it together. Looks amazing when finished though.

Harry Potter castle is a fun build too and I could imagine even better with a family. Just $$$ but I always see it on discount here so probably the same for you guys.

This thread has made me start looking up my old sets, which has allowed me to discover Brickipedia which has been bringing me all sorts of nostalgic happiness this afternoon.  The unfortunate side effect is that all of this makes me want to start buying my old LEGO sets again.  Fortunately, I have just enough self control to avoid this...... barely.

Also check out Brick Link. Normally better pricing than eBay and has a great database.

I just don't like legos. I see them as like figures that you build. I love figures, but I like them to look good/realistic as much as possible (please ignore my Nendoroid collection), and I don't enjoy the lego aesthetic.

I hear this a lot from adults and I think it’s because they haven’t looked at the sets LEGO now make aimed at adults as display pieces. They’re highly detailed models and look amazing when displayed.
See if these sets interest you:

    Star Wars:

    75181- y wing

    75277 - boba fett helmet

    75276- stormtrooper helmet

    75274- tie fighter pilot helmet

    75275- a wing

    Any of the architect series

    21309 - Saturn V

    21321- ISS

    21311- Voltron

    76139- 1989 batmobile

If you have a place to keep the boxes, LEGO are investment-grade

This is my biggest problem. I have around 30 sets and I’m running out of room to display them and also store the boxes.
One trick someone recommended was to carefully cut the tape on both ends of the box and flat pack them. I think I will have to move to this method next, currently they’re packed like Russian dolls haha.

On a side note, the SEE museum in manchester, nh has an absolutely astounding lego model of the Manchester millyard. It is massive, about the size of half a football field, and was at one time the largest in the world. Definitely worth seeing if you are traveling through the area! Google some pictures!

Very cool! Looks to be to minifig scale too, which is always nice.

  11. Silent Hill is my favourite survival horror series. Probably won’t be seeing anymore games in the series with the way Konami is these days unfortunately.

I also love the fatal frame series. I’m hoping they release the Wii U game on the Switch. They’ve re released nearly every other good game on that system so hopefully it gets a release.

  12. Some great games listed already. I love the Fatal Frame series and think they’re worth it. Also Yakuza, although they’ve been remade now I think.

Don’t forget the Atlus classics if you like JRPGs, persona 3 & 4, Nocturne, digital devil saga and devil summoner.

Also the Shadowheart games are another great JRPG series sometimes overlooked.

I think the real fun with PS2 is when you go the Japanese route and get all their exclusive SHMUPs.

I might be the only person who was playing Titan Quest - a Switch port of a 2006 Diablo clone PC game. I heard good things about it in 2006 though, and people were recently praising it in a PC group that I'm a member of. Anyway, I beat it 🙂

Loved this game when it first released. Didn’t know it was on the switch. I’ll have to grab it.

  14. Probably would have to go with 497 Galaxy Explorer. Love the Classic Space sets and this one is my favourite. Loved this theme growing up and I have slowly been trying to get all these sets (finding room to fit them all is an issue now).

My favourite build has actually been the recent LEGO Ideas set Pirates of Barracuda Bay though. A lot of great techniques and I love that you can easily convert it to the ship.

Meh, give me a pirate ship any day.

There you go. Very fun build 🙂

I can understand people thinking this is expensive if it’s not your hobby, but it actually is very affordable for a licence set.

That video was amazing because it looks like we will be able to mod it with our own backgrounds which gives it more playability.

Do you think that's a sticker on that cart?  LEGO doesn't really do stickers right?

Unfortunately it will be at this price. LEGO have been moving towards stickers more and more over the years.

Hereditary, I think its time he grows up.

Nah forget that, just go to 11 and start with Martyrs. Good intro to foreign films at the same time, two birds with one stone!

In all seriousness, at that age I think I was watching stuff like Gremlins, Poltergeist, A Nightmare on Elm St and Ghostbusters.

yea thats what i was just saying as you replied in a follow up post.

Haha yep just saw that as I posted.

As you said, no need to go crazy trying to get this if it sells out initially.

LEGO aren’t like Nintendo and make some super low number of units and then act surprised when it sells out in a day.

If people miss out, just wait for the next production cycle.

The only advice I’d give to people is actually buy the set during the release years because one LEGO stop making it that’s when the sets will start sky rocketing. I think this set will definitely be around for a while. We don’t know the licence agreement terms with Nintendo but I’m pretty sure LEGO didn’t make a crazy deal where they can only make a limited supply.

Hopefully this is successful and we see other consoles in the future.

are u new? this is going to sell like hotcakes. Lego collector set pricing has been those prices for years. This is going to sell out at every lego vip buck promotional time. People who love lego, is the same demographic that likes nintendo. Its going to sell very well. Im def getting one.

I think this set will be around for a year or two at least, so people shouldn’t have to go too crazy. Might be harder to buy at release, but people definitely shouldn’t pay scalper prices if they miss out.

My advice would be to sign up for LEGO VIP (it’s free) and you will be able to buy it directly from LEGO a few days before the official launch.
