  1. I’m a 911 operator

It's not as cool as it sounds. I get paid the big bucks to change light bulbs and replace busted buttons.

I think I would enjoy that. Even if it’s not cool. Sounds like good, honest work, and I like a job where you walk the floor, something that I’m currently missing. I have enjoyed jobs refurbishing computers, un /loading trucks, and picking warehouse orders. Standing and /or moving all day can be good for you, if your employer is not an asshole *cough cough Amazon*  balance and appropriate rest and conditions are needed.

Just a full on adrenaline shock black out at a concert one night. Fun stuff.

wow. I’ve blacked out on alcohol before, didn’t know it could happen on energy drinks. Very interesting how the human body and mind handles and reacts to different things for different people.

  3. I have never gone to the gym. Exercising for its own sake is a big turnoff to me. But I stay active other ways.

As for food. I don’t like soda, so that’s an easy one for me. I avoid fast food; only get it a few times a year. I check ingredients and avoid versions that contain sugar. It’s in a lot of places you wouldn’t expect, and really unnecessary. I also limit how much meat I eat, and have been considering portion sizes in general— Now it’s one egg, or one sandwich, or one egg sandwich at a time, instead of two.

All that did me ok, but this year I wasn’t really liking how I looked. I decided to start weighing myself regularly, and found I was gaining weight. So I made these changes.

#1 substitutions in stuff I ate often: Egg whites instead of eggs. Whole grains instead of pasta. Barley and oat groats are my favorite so far.

#2 cut out stupid snacking. It’s ok to eat for fun when you’re not actually hungry... once in a while. Not every day.

Lost 30+ pounds and looking better.

I don’t think anyone could have predicted what that would lead to.

I do. But there was no reason to say or think anything about it unless one’s opinion was, or could be taken as, not overwhelmingly positive. Which would then get shouted down because “the founders are good guys /from our community”

    😂😂😂

although I’m with @arch_8ngel being like “how the hell do you wipe your ass sitting down?”. The fulcrum thing (like a sea saw right?) is more understandable.
But if your not coming off the seat at all?... uhh how many times do you get toilet water on your hand?

I don’t know. This has never been even close to a problem. I am also asking how the hell. Something wrong with you guys 😂😂😂

Yeah it is sort of a low hover to guarantee enough space that neither my hand or my unit is making contact with the toilet.

And I have both an elongated bowl and round bowl (old house with a space constrained second bathroom) in the house, so I have experience with how much clearance exists in either case.

I just have a hard time imagining how, even with an elongated bowl, any man with at least a normal sized pelvis can sit and wipe without either putting their junk on the front of the seat or rubbing their hand and arm against the back of the seat.

Maybe there is some brand of oversized toilet seat I am not familiar with that makes this possible.

Or maybe other people simply find it less problematic to have their junk all over toilet seats during the wiping process 😛

dude. Way too much thought into this. I know that’s like, your thing. But just lean forward and reach back.

That’s already more anatomically explicit than I care to get in this venue, but I’ll just say the fulcrum principal should take care of your objection here.

  7. I also see the seconds counting on NA, logged in to the non-vintage site. On the front page.

Is it possible to load it with the page, and have it continue counting from the load point, without JS? Pegged to local machine time? Maybe hard to keep accuracy....

VHS tapes. Specifically, those weird ass public domain cartoon tapes. They're basically bootlegs, so they're really strange most of the time.

Awesome, I love those. My dad mail-ordered a box set of 8 or PD (or banned) tapes out of some catalog when I was a kid. They had three cartoons each, and every one is permanently imprinted on my brain. They were SLP, so each cassette probably contained about ten feet of tape, lol.

  9. Something one note. LoZ treasure chest or Megaman death are too long. Keep in mind this is something you might hear over and over again when there’s a couple of hot threads going on.

I agree something like a Mario coin, Zelda rupee, or Metroid (or Megaman) gunshot. But in keeping with the all-original nature of the site name, mascot, etc.,

Yeah, I'd like to control it tbh. Make it feel like "the sage" and less like "my phone".

Best situation in my mind honestly is if we can get some original sound made by a member of the community. Something... Sagely...

it would be best to have something original and not remotely copyright infringing.

I’m not a chiptune composer like some people here, but I might be able to come up w/ something when I’m home.

Any sci-fi series you'd recommend? I'm really into apocalyptic/dystopian sci-fi. The longer the series the better IMO. Also wow...you have a LOT of CRTs...any reason why?

I’m not much into series, myself. I like to read a complete story and move on, rather than a story that goes on forever. Kind of the opposite of you, lol. This is why I stopped reading mainstream superhero comics. Have you heard of Philip K. Dick? I would recommend if you like that kind of world-building. He was prolific, wrote a lot of books and has a distinctive style.

I got into collecting old TVs some time ago... one of those things you get into accidentally at first. Now, I keep them in rows on a big shelf. Jacked to the same signal. Good for parties. Watching music videos.
