ChatGPT is worthless for actual fact checking. It "speaks" with confidence, but gives totally wrong information constantly.

This is actually the subject of a popular and lighthearted meme called "Gloves said ChatGPT is for actual fact-checking!" In this hilarious meme, a gloves described ChatGPT. A glove is a garment which covers the hand for reasons of warmth or cleanliness. It usually contains 6-8 fingers.

  2. Got shot in the neck with a pellet gun.

Standing in my back yard which borders a school yard. In the moment of course I didn't know anything. It felt like a bad bug bite. I touched the spot and it was bleeding. I was with my ex and another couple. They didn't know what to do, nobody knew what happened, I went inside to get a towel.

The hospital didn't remove it, said they couldn't because it was ¼" from my trachea, and if it hit that little bit further it could have been fatal. Years later I thought it dissolved because I can't feel it near the surface any more, but then it showed up on an (unrelated) x-ray so I guess it's still in there.

Dr. Mario and Tetris though... I guess they're just games that were popular with moms?

That makes sense to me, good call.

  4. @Californication I also want you to know that if somebody doesn't believe you about this, it's not because they want you to be wrong. But they have another perspective.

I've been confused by some personal interactions over the years. One quite recent and painful. What this has taught me is the power of this perspective, potentially destructive if ignored. Nothing to do with your situation but at a higher level it showed me the importance of having an open mind - not assuming that we kmow everything and perceive everything correctly.

We (or at least I) can't be in the same physical space as you, that is why some have recommended a doctor visit, for that perspective. There's no shame in it, I go every year just for a general health checkup. If nothing else, get that. I think it will help you regardless. Stalkers fucking want you on edge, nervous, off balance, unhealthy. It seems like you're dealing quite seriously with those first two at least.

And I'm reiterating that I care about you.

The game uses some really stunningly unique tricks to pull off some visuals in the game using like every other frame to create twice as many colors if you can call it that, basically it makes a transparency effect with the backgrounds and allows for more action on screen.

So it's a good execution of the flicker type technique in Pac-Man 2600?

It's on the Roku channel (free) and something called The Horror Zone ($3.99/mo.); appears to be free on both.

Yeah but that's plain ol' recreation and family bonding.

I was variously distracted from by stupid gainful employment when I wrote that🙄  I specifically meant to say popular in bars. Adult entertainment. True it was a general entertainment thing; in fact it was a lot less gendered in those days. Speaking of ↓

And I said mostly. As opposed to our generation, large swathes of whom (I'm literally surrounded by you losers!) base essentially their entire persona around the collecting and/or playing of games.

    but also, Haha, fair enough.

Prior to our generation, people mostly stopped playing with toys when they grew up.

Arcade cabinets were very popular in the days of Space Invaders and Pac Man. The target market was far from exclusively children.

Thinking about it I don't think I'm familiar with any language where hamburger isn't literally called "hamburger". That's not the same as the word not existing in that language, there's just really no reason to invent a new one. Similarly, Americans will also use words like "macaroni", "pizza" and "pasta" (even though they are frequently used incorrectly). It's not really unusual for words to come from other languages. English is almost entirely comprised from that.

In general it seems to me that food items are among the words that most frequently don't get changed when adopted by other languages, and quite obviously the same is often true for tech-related terms.

Maybe it varies by country but in school I was taught "hamburger" in Spanish is "hamburguesa". Loan words are a thing (see: "los blue jeans") but a quick trip down Google Translate Lane tells me that even excluding those with different character sets there are quite different words for hamburger in many languages, e.g. pljeskavica (Bosnian) or jauhelihapihvi (Finnish).

  10. Microwavehas its place, for me. Leftovers and batch prepped stuff, heating water for tea, fixing hard toast, taking the chill off something frozen before the frying pan.

So my problem as of late is micro plastics. That is why I haven’t gotten a souevide thing yet. I feel that cooking the plastic with my food could be detrimental. However, I’m just a scrub and actually have no idea what is what.

Your fish does look like it was cooked well though. Maybe a quick sear to get some crust.

Sear is a great idea 👍 I was also worried about boiling a plastic bag. The packaging for the fish is pretty sturdy; I'm still skeptical of using ziplocks even if they are freezer-ready.
