Wow... I proclaimed to be a Sonic fan and I'm the lowest voter. Honestly, I'm surprised it's rating so high. So, any "Mario kids" in here? You know, you guys who were dyed in the wool Mario fanbois, and always argued how Nintendo was infinity better?
How do you objectively see this game as an adult gamer?
I gave it a 7 based upon the scale descriptions. I really did enjoy it back then, but I really only got to play when I'd visit with friends who had a Genesis. So I had limited time with it, and that sort of increased the mystique of it. Even revisiting the game now, it's clearly well put together and fun. Just missing some key elements to make it great. And I still maintain the Super Mario World is better than an Sonic game ever created.

This situation blows dude, I'm sorry to hear you're going through it.
I think the best suggestions so far have been to decide on a figure and halve it.
I got really lucky to divorce on amicable terms. Still not ideal, but nothing to this degree of misery. Better days are ahead, bro. And even if she does pilfer a particular prized game, there's another one out there waiting for you to find.

I am trying not to throw up in my mouth a little at the idea of a subset of people (1) comparing Hook to Goonies at all.. and (2) liking it more
It's not even a contest for me. Hook is by far my preference.
I wouldn't really call them similar though, with the exception of a pirate ship being present.
And I've never considered myself to be in the "subset". I think the majority of people I grew up with liked Hook better than Goonies. Besides, "Bangarang!" is a way better catchphrase than "Goonies never say die". What a lame line. lol

....But the idea of finding a fully intact pirate ship full of treasure just doesn't do it for ya?
I had the movie Hook to fulfill my pirate ship needs. lol

PS5

Mine finally says that it's shipped and I should receive by 9pm tomorrow!
Having completely skipped the current gaming Generation, I'm looking forward to getting back into it. May even have to add a few of you weirdos so we can play together

I'm sorry that your inner child is dead.
Hahaha, I might just be a little younger. I was into the Ninja Turtles movies and all of the great sports movies that came out in the 90's. Little Giants, Rookie of the Year, Sandlot, Mighty Ducks, Little Big League, etc. Blank Check and Dennis the Menace were some go-tos as well.

Solid 6, and not a point higher.
I can't quite put my finger on why it's not great, but it's certainly not bad. I just was never drawn into it enough.

I've noticed a ton of new listings for these on Facebook marketplace lately. Enough so that I dug out my old binder to survey what I have. lol
I'm honestly thinking of selling them now. I have zero use for them, and if there's a legitimate demand for them now, then I may as well let them go.
PS: Let me know when POGS become valuable. lol

I voted "undecided".
I don't really have a stopping point in mind. I'll just continue to pick up games/systems that I feel like myself or family will enjoy.

I just beat the last main mission of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (PS3)
Pretty good game, definitely different from the main series. The story was pretty vanilla, but it fills in some backstory to the main games. I dig the graphic novel style cutscenes and the voice acting is superb. It's worthy of the critical praise it got upon its release.

Mine are going to sound dated. Lol
#1 for me is 007: Agent Under Fire
#2 is Time Splitters 2

I'm going to say StarFox 64. (But I'd wish to relive the actual first moments, not just playing it for the 1st time today)
I didn't have a N64, I was a PS1 kid. But my cousin had it, and I got to play it over there.
Just doing the training mission with unlimited enemies in "All Range Mode" blew my mind.

Galaxy 1 and 2 are my least favorite main line Mario games. It might be because I played through them with the wii mote and nunchuck. I don't know if other controllers are supported but that lessened the enjoyment for me. I hate the wii mote as a controller
I, too, despise the wiimote and nunchuck. But, if you can manage to overlook the use of that piece of junk device, the Galaxy games are actually really fun.
(The wiimote sucks. Get off my lawn)

For the record, it's possible for Jump Man's actual name to be Mario and still be Mario's Dad. I personally know a father/son both named Mario.
Dammit... So you're telling me after all this time "Super Mario" is actually Mario Jr.?
And that Mario Sr. was actually beefing with DK Sr. AND DK Jr.?

An astute observation. Calling the MegaTens (at least the early ones) a combination of Pokemon and Wizardry is not far from the truth. The latter ones not so much.
Yeah, those are maybe not my style, but I dig me some Atlus games tho. Ogre Battle was

Pokemon, but these are the "monsters"
Yeah, I just watched some gameplay vids. While the monsters are interesting, I can't actually place the games in the same class as the Pokemon series. Walking around the same high school hallways over and over just isn't as interesting to me.
This seems more like Wizardry than Pokemon
(That's definitely a dick chariot btw. lol)

Yeah, that's another interesting thought exercise.
I like Super Metroid more than Fusion, but Zero Mission? I mean it's basically another Super Metroid, but that's not a bad thing. In fact it's a great thing.
And I dig both SNES Castlevanias, but I'm not sure either can touch Aria of Sorrow.
So then you start thinking. If Zero Mission or Aria of Sorrow were SNES games, would they be in the top 30? Top 20? Top 10?
If Chrono Trigger had originated on GBA, would some people call it the best game on the system?
Where would Phantasy Star III land in top SNES games? What if it was bundled with parts 1 and 2?
If I could read those, I might have a response for you. lol

Man, I love my SNES, but it's a tough call.
Lately I've been playing through the GBA Metroid and Castlevania titles. It's not really a fair fight, the newer Castlevania games are easily better than the SNES predecessors. (then again, you may think the opposite if you prefer the classic style over the SOTN style of game play). And Fusion may indeed have the hand holding "security lock" sequence that limits free roaming exploration, but it also has SA-X and those encounters are way more intense than I expected them to be.
GBA also has the Pokemon games, and whether you like them or not, they're an undeniable hit that the SNES lacks.
What the SNES does have are the superior TMNT games. Turtles in Time and Tournament Fighters are better than any TMNT games on the GBA. Also the SNES also has the Mega Man X games which I prefer to the Zero games. And last but not least, Super Mario RPG is only on the SNES.
Shoot, I started out leaning one way, but I've kinda fallen back to the undecided middle... lol

Galaga
Metal Slug
AREA 51
Hydro Thunder
Marvel vs Capcom
All of those catch a dollar or 5 when I see them to this day.

Console Debate #3: Sony Playstation
in The Gauntlet
Posted
This is the first time I've ever heard about another 1st party analog controller being available for the PS1. I only ever had the Dual Shock.
And now I'm down a rabbit hole trying to find one of these things. lol
