Since Tomb Raider was mentioned positively: Tomb Raider is a terrible game with awful controls, poor graphics, nearly nonexistent sound, adding up to a lame and boring time. I can only assume people liked it because they were teenage boys and she has big boobs 1/10

5. Maybe the Genesis version deserves a 4. It's a decent game especially with two players, but nothing special. If it weren't the pack-in game and if it weren't for "WRise fwrom your gwave!" nobody would remember it and you'd only hear about it in those sometimes insufferable "hidden gems" videos.

The average SNES/Genesis game has better graphics than the average Playstation/N64 game.

The NES games by a longshot. MM2 and MM3 are the best in the series and even MM1 is a better game than any of the X games.

Definitely X-Wing and its sequel TIE Fighter on the PC. Rogue Squadron II on GameCube is more arcadey but amazingly good. Those are the cream of the crop for me, definitely all among the greatest games ever made. Empire Strikes Back on the Atari VCS is a really great game if you are OK with Atari-type gameplay.

I went with a 6.

For me motion controls can be great for some games, but a barrier to fun in others. Swinging the remote as a golf club or tennis racket is fun when implemented well. Having to shake it to perform moves you use a lot is annoying. The constant need for batteries is also an annoyance.

Anyway, some of my favorites for the system include New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Fire Emblem, Super Mario Galaxy, Big Brain Academy, Kirby Return to Dreamland, and Muramasa. Smash was a disappointment and a step back from the Gamecube version, as was Mario Kart - both still fun, but some flaws that made them not as fun as their predecessors.

I was thinking 15-20% and voted that way before reading the responses. There are a lot of pretty convincing arguments it's a lot higher than that. I'm sure I'm biased by being one of those people who didn't throw away things like games, like most of us here I'd imagine. No doubt plenty of parents threw out John's old vidya-games when he went to college, or when they couldn't sell them at a yard sale.

SMB3 by a very large margin. Mario 64 is a decent game too.

I went for a 7. I've never beaten it, although I've gotten pretty far. It's a lot of fun to play and definitely worth recommending, although I greatly prefer New Adventure Island on the TG-16 which is easily the best in the series and a game I'd give a 10.

Uniracers is one of my favorite SNES games and Zoop isn't bad either, actually.

Anyway I'll definitely agree on Pokemon. And to keep it controversial: Conker's Bad Fur Day.

NES by far. Best system of all time that has the most great and good games. Always something you want to play on it.

Anyone have any TG-16 homebrews? I only have a few.

My second favorite console, it has lots of amazing games (just not as many as the NES). Many all-time classics here including the best Zelda, best Mario (well, Mario 3 for me on some days is better, so let's say tied for the best), and best Metroid games. Some others I would list as my favorites include Secret of Mana, of course Super Castlevania IV, Yoshi's Island, Street Fighter II Turbo, Mortal Kombat II, Turtles in Time, Super Tennis, International Superstar Soccer Deluxe, Actraiser, F-Zero, and many, many more. There are also a plethora of lesser-praised games that are right up there with the best such as Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Uniracers, U.N. Squadron, and SoulBlazer. So no shortage of good and really great games. It just edges out the Genesis in my view, but it's very close.

As for hardware, I've found mine very reliable and still have it all these years later after purchasing one as a kid. It was the first console I actually bought with my own money, some of which came from selling NES games ( - something I'd later regret!). Stock controller is excellent. S-Video capability was great at the time.

Some very fond memories of beating every world in Super Mario World on each save file on the cartridge, my sister playing Zelda III so much it remains her favorite game to this day, playing through Secret of Mana 3-player the whole way, etc. etc. Everybody should have a SNES!

In a word, no. I guess if I were Jeff Bezos why not, but even if I had X millions I can't imagine using that money on such a thing.

Fantastic and varied strategy gameplay, amazing amounts of content that seems to go on forever, fun story mode that puts you in a lot of different scenarios, wonderful graphics and music, what's not to like? Highly recommended for anyone that likes strategy games at all. Lots of fond memories playing Advance Wars games on the train or on the plane.

It's not hyperbole, actually. I do feel all those things are clearly better in Battle of Olympus. The controls are far superior to the sluggish Zelda II, the enemies are more interesting and fun to fight, you don't have the overworld with meaningless battles and instead have distinct areas to explore and find routes to new places, etc.

Literally everything about Battle of Olympus is better: the way the game plays, flow, items, secrets, story, graphics, sound, everything. Well, except for the password system which is horrible and a battery would be much preferable, but everything else. I can't understand why anyone would prefer Zelda II to it, personally, other than you play as Link and try to rescue Zelda I guess.

Not a fan. If you're looking for a good NES game in this style, Battle of Olympus is superior in literally every way (and one of the best games around too).
