  1. I've reached Robocop 3's beautiful ending screen once more:
  2. 1942 completed. Shooting down: 8602 PCT - 86% Score - 1,357,650
  3. Talespin completed. Pretty sloppy with a game over, but oh well.
  4. In Waiters, you can actually just sit there without attacking and dodge all of the enemy pies - they'll run out after a while. Then you can take your time trying to nail them.
  5. I was going to say that I forgot to post a few days ago, but it turns out that question 25's voting period is actually two weeks because of the holiday. So we have a few more days to wait for that.
  6. Throwing some stats out there: There were 4 games that went unbeaten last year that had previously been beaten in every year from 2012-22. They were: Ikari Warriors II, Jordan vs Bird, Tecmo World Wrestling, and Volleyball. TheGameDisplay (5th), McBryce (8th), mbd39 (9th), and Jandrem (10th) all finished in the top ten for the first time in 2023. There are only two games which have changed point values every single year: Bram Stoker's Dracula (6-7-5-6-5-6-7-9-8-9-8) Die Hard (6-5-4-3-2-1-2-3-5-7) There are still 33 games which have had the same point value every year: 23 one point games Amagon, Chessmaster, Contra, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr, Double Dragon II, Duck Tales, Fisher Price I Can Remember, Galaga, Ice Hockey, Kung Fu, Mega Man, Mega Man 2, Monopoly, Ninja Gaiden, Pac-Man, Popeye, Remote Control, Super C, Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 2, Super Mario Bros 3, Tetris 2 two point games Duck Tales II, TMNT II 8 ten point games Destination Earth Star, Dungeon Magic, F-117A Stealth Fighter, Flight of the Intruder, Hunt for Red October, Might & Magic, Roger Clemens MVP Baseball, Ultimate Air Combat ...
  7. As someone who has beaten this game many times, I disagree. The best stage to play is Waiters. It's very safe, and it awards more money the further you get into the calendar. Doctors is my second pick, although it can be easy to mess up. You just have to stay behind the gurney.
  8. Soccer done, Brazil 5:0 over the easiest cpu opponent.
  9. Twin Eagle defeated. It was a no-death run (after a few restarts of course).
  10. I always thought Uninvited was worse than shadowgate and Deja Vu. It just seemed a little wackier and less logical.
  11. Congrats! I was gonna say, it should technically be fine for the competition to beat it the cheap way, but I'm glad you did it the other way too.
  12. Cybernoid - clutched it out on the last life.
  13. Spelunker is completed! Easy clear. Previously:
  14. That would be very interesting to take a look at. I'd have to do a bit of work figuring it out... But, I do have a list of how many games we've beaten all together on New Years each year (licensed only, includes first 15). New Years Day Completions 2012 26 2013 164 2014 158 2015 131 2016 132 2017 167 2018 122 2019 73 2020 68 2021 94 2022 65 2023 85 2024 97 ...
  15. Phantom Fighter completed. Took a little less than 3 hours. Even knowing the game, some of the boss fights are kind of cheap (maybe if I had more upgrades, they'd be easier - but that would be longer).
  16. Amagon is just a game that I had as a kid, and I never could get anywhere with it back then. As an adult, I went back and beat it and started to appreciate it more. It's not the greatest game, but it's not just nostalgia neither, because I didn't suddenly like Rampage or Xenophobe more. I do unironically enjoy Amagon quite a bit now. I actually had the record speedrun for years, and I've also beaten it without even transforming into Megagon. Maybe one day, I'll try to beat it just using the gun as a club (which would be nuts). Anyway, it's now a tradition for me to beat it at the start of every year. It's also the only game that has beaten by the same person in every year of this competition. And I just beat Amagon for 2024!
  17. I'll probably take on Amagon tonight as usual. Maybe Phantom Fighter as well? I've started to enjoy playing that game every year for whatever reason.
  18. Ok, thanks. Just looked like the score was a bit low for Magmax, so I wasn't sure.
  19. Looks like you had a productive night! I don't think I can count a few of the games, though. Millipede is listed as beating round 16 and you only made it to 11. I know speedrun.com lists 10 rounds, but we've always had 16 as our requirement. Also, I'm not sure if you beat the requirements for Magmax (loop the game) and Tetris (9-5 B-type + high score on A-type). Let me know.
