    F-15 Strike Eagle is done

I actually really dug that one when I played it.  What'd you think about it?

Man, I was at the last level of Rad Racer II and wanted to continue after a game over, but I accidentally pressed start instead of start + A, so I have to restart from level 1 again. This sucks. I'll continue tomorrow unless someone beats it in the meantime.

Less than 5 minutes ago (almost the exact same time) I just did the same thing with Adventure Island. Heartbreaking. I was on 7-3.

The last time I played Predator I was like two or three levels from the end, when I hit "Start" instead of "Continue" on the title screen.  I like the game, but I haven't played it since because of that BS.

In this instance that may well be the case, but I just wanted to share with him cuz he's said before he cares about how he's presenting himself, and it's not the first time he's come into a thread where someone is like "does anyone know what I have here?" and he's like "pmed". Just genuinely looking out, not policing it in this case.

In fairness, I more or less know the value of my stuff.  I don't 100% know what all I have, but on the off chance I part with anything, I ain't giving shit away for pennies lol

Hey man just a heads up every time you do this it looks a bit shady.

I dunno if you intend to send him advice, but if so it'd be nice to share with the rest of the class. It's a forum, so kinda the whole point is that we're out here sharing info with each other on topics like this.

On the flip, and based on your past similar posts, one has to assume you're gonna message him with something like "I'll buy everything you've got" or worse yet "I want specifically your rare things".

The vagueness of your post leaves it to personal interpretation and every time you make a post like this in a thread where someone is asking for advice (and not saying "hey who wants to buy my stuff?") at least a few people I imagine roll their eyes and go "this fuckin guy again".

It's cool man.  He's actually local to me, we've met in person.  Hell, I dumped his Tengen chips for him.  Whether he's testing the waters for some of the rarities I own or offering advice, I'm okay with anything he might come at me with.  Besides, posting threads like this is bound to get the vultures circling.  It comes with the territory 😆

One of my favorite items which I own that is rare but practically worthless probably is the Sega Pico Storyware Sampler cartridge.  Found it over a decade ago when I picked it up in a Pico lot off Craigslist from a lady.  She was late meeting me and even gave me like $10 off for the whole lot (a handful of loose and boxed games and a system), and I had no clue to the rarity until years later when I mentioned it on Sega16 to someone.

These were normally paired with the demo kiosk, which was destroyed or sent back to Sega I'd assume.  There was a full kiosk with pamphlets and this cartridge which came up on ebay a year ago I think, too big for me to consider buying and storing, plus I'm sure after shipping the whole thing would be destroyed unless the seller was very careful packing.

I've gotten a LOT of obscure merch from Japan over the last 20 years or so as well, and it's stuff I've only seen a handful of times, but I'm pretty sure no one cares about here as far as I know.

I actually wouldn't mind scoring something like that.  I'm at 14/20 on my Pico collection, with the bulk of the rares already down.  Haven't seen a sampler cart come up at all in my searches.  Super rare, but demand is next to zero.

  5. From what I understand, you have to manually drop every piece on level 255 or it locks.  Looping it may be borderline impossible when that is factored in.  And that's assuming there isn't some other nigh impossible task to prevent locking on an earlier level.

  6. I know @scaryice hasn't put the bonuses up yet, but I got a head start and knocked off Moon Ranger.  Aside from the usual Color Dreams physics issues, I kinda dig this one.  I mean, I have a soft spot for CD anyway, but this wasn't half as bad as some of their games.  And the mix between shooter and platformer was kinda cool too, with neither being great but both helping to keep it feeling fresh.

Likely many of the old collector friends of yours know some of the rare or one-of-a-kind pieces you have, items they might have wanted for their collections too. Leave a list of names and contacts for those guys, tell your kin to contact them first that you passed, ask if there's anything in particular they think you have that they want. If they're friends and fellow collectors, hopefully they'd make fair offers and not be a turd about it.

Then have the family unload the rest to Jeff.

That could be the best bet.  I'd still like a trusted person to be the guide for this, maybe @Dr. Morbis if he'd be willing/able, but someone else if not.  I know a bunch of the local folks that would love to get a shot at some of these items.  Some people have definitely expressed interest in a lot of things, but having someone I trust fully to make sure they're giving my family a fair offer would definitely ease my mind.  And then from there they can sell the bulk stuff to Jeff because as much as I'd like them to get full value for every crap PS2 sports game, that would 100% be unrealistic, and a store would be a better place to unload the filler items on than hoping some random collector is willing to pay top dollar for NHL 2003 or some shit 😛

No, the Power SET included the combo cart; the stand alone WCTM only ever came in the Stand alone retail Power PAD box, making it significantly less common than the combo cart...

This.  The only thing I could see is if the stand alone pad wasn't released until after the transition, but that's an extreme longshot.  Nintendo didn't have a history of selling peripherals only with sets.  You could buy the Zapper and ROB separately at the same time that you could get the Deluxe Set.  And being several years after the system launched, they definitely weren't stupid enough to put out an accessory that was ONLY available if you bought a new system.  No, it's more likely that it's just a case of 5-screw Stadium Events syndrome - they exist, but quantities are so scarce that they almost never show up.

The issue with game stores is they beat you over the head for 30-40% on their purchase. Auctioneers charge the buyers so you get a lot more bc buyers never consider the buyer premium into the price.

Nothing wrong w getting 30% but to have an auction house come and prepare everything, and get top dollar is a luxury most people don't consider.

The thing with Jeff is he's pretty fair with his payouts.  He gives probably closer to 50-75%, and even more if it's rare enough that he figures it'll drive sales.  Given that paring it down to me would mentally be equivalent to cutting off my hand, he's probably the best bet for them to get a reasonable lump sum.  That said, I feel like some of the stuff even he would have a hard time with.  I have a ton of one-of-a-kind items that would be tough for a store to put a price on.

As someone who has beaten this game many times, I disagree. The best stage to play is Waiters. It's very safe, and it awards more money the further you get into the calendar. Doctors is my second pick, although it can be easy to mess up. You just have to stay behind the gurney.

I've never got more than $200 on either of those stages, so clearly I'm doing it wrong 😛

I thought Wizardry prepared me for Wizardry 2, but every single time the ends of my map meet, they don't match up because of one way walls and teleporters.

Pay attention to the screen when you're walking.  If you hit a spinner or a teleporter, the screen briefly flashes.  If you spin and go into the menu, it will spin again, so don't cast Dumapic until you step off the spinner.  Also, a space with a teleport shows the space you end on, not the one you start on, so if your map says there should be a wall and it's actually a hallway, you could be seeing a teleporter (it could also be a one-way wall, so it's not foolproof).  Or you could just grab the maps online 😛

HOW?!?!  Ive had this game since I was a kid and never gotten very far.  The stupid hand gets too fast too soon.  I've beaten Mutant Virus FFS!

When it starts getting fast, try and get the Stooges icon.  Beating the shit out of Larry and Curly makes the hand slower.  You make no money that day, but it makes future days easier to plan for.

I'm really sorry about that. I though that if I played these less popular or crappy games that I wouldn't take away the games that others wanted to play. Do you maybe have a list of games that you want to play? I just took a look at your 2024 backlog and I'm sorry about that. Maybe we could introduce something like a "claim sheet" in the future like they did in the N64 challenge?

Which part of the first level gives you trouble? The beginning where you're on the streets or afterwards?

Oh no, it's all good.  I just happen to really like shitty games myself 😛 I just look forward to beating games I haven't knocked off yet, and many of the ones I haven't done are games you've been picking off early.  Go ahead and play whatever you feel like 🙂 Honestly, I was just kidding around with you...yeah, there were a bunch of games I've wanted to play, but if I really want to play them I'll just knock them off anyway, challenge or not.  There's no reason to feel sorry 🙂  As for the trouble, it's in the back half for sure.  In the sewers.  I just can't seem to pull a good run together.  Don't think there's anything I can do different, just gotta learn to execute better I think, but maybe there's a strategy I haven't thought of yet.

Anyway, I just knocked off The Three Stooges.  Got me the best ending too, after a couple attempts.  You need to average around $500/day to get the $15K needed for it.  As such, it's best to avoid the Waiter and Doctor stages entirely.  The free money isn't worth it unless the other options are bad, as although you can get a cool $1000 from it, you can also get as low as $100, and it's frequently on the low end of the average needed.  The best option IMO is the Cracker Eating Contest, as once you get to the end, there's a bowl with one cracker.  If you can beat the oyster to it, you get $60 for each one. It's really easy to get $500 on it, and I've managed as high as around $2500, and could probably have gone further if I didn't overshoot the damn cracker 😛  Trivia is good for $600 (there's a really good FAQ detailing all the answers, though after a few runs you'll have seen almost all of them numerous times anyway), and the boxing minigame is pretty simple - line up in the middle, jump anything in your way, and don't worry about hitting the ladders.  You should be able to get back with time to spare - no weaving required.  The safe seemed to be worth $500 every time I hit it as well, so it's also an okay option if the board is crap otherwise.  All in all, it's a surprisingly decent game for what it is.  I remember renting it once as a kid and enjoying it, and I enjoyed the hour and a half I just spent playing it (I managed to beat it my first time trying, but with the bad ending...took a couple rounds to figure the best tactics out).  I don't think it's great by any means, but it's worth a run nonetheless.

It was released in August 1988, how could it?

Bionic Commando was released in December 88.  WWF Wrestlemania was released in January of 89. They both have a round seal version.  The 5 screw switch happened at the end of '87.  It seems the switch to the oval seal happened sometime in 89.  So yeah, it should exist.

Edit: Another thing to note is that there the question of a 5 screw Stadium Events existing because the timeliness said it should, but none were known to exist.  Similarly, round seal WCTM should exist.  It's just a matter of time until one shows up.
