  1. I used a Retrotink 2X Pro for a little bit as my first upscaler. I mainly used it to upscale my SNES via s-video. I was pleased with the results but I quickly outgrew it due to the lack of RGB scart support, like Sumez mentioned. I found a great deal on a Framemeister XRGB mini so I picked one of those up and used it for years. I was pleased with it except its performance with component video wasn't spectacular. Now I'm using a Retrotink 5X Pro, and I think it's a very nice solution. It does a good job handling both RGB scart and component video. The firmware has been actively updated by the developer as well, adding new features and refinements. Since the NES doesn’t output RGB natively, I think the 2X Pro would get the job done there. That Genesis would really sing on an upscaler with RGB support though. Edit: Made an incorrect statement earlier, the SNES does output RGB natively.
  2. I did enjoy playing through Kid Icarus...I don't think it's a bad game, but I'm also in no rush to play through it again. I would hesitate to recommend it because I don't think it has aged well. 5/10 here.
  3. Progress Edit: 5-5 I lost Chin to the last mummy and it allllll fell apart from there 5-4
  4. Kirby's Dream Land gets an 8 from me. I grew up with this game, and I still love it to this day. It released after Super Mario Land but before Super Mario Land 2, so when it was new it felt like I finally had a proper platformer to play on the Game Boy (I still love you for what you are Super Mario Land—and you're weird bouncy ball too, I guess). Kirby doesn't have his copy ability yet in Dream Land, so there isn't a lot of engaging mechanics here—which is saying a lot considering Kirby games are often referred to as breezy. I love that Lolo and Lala show up as bosses in this one! I had played a lot of Adventures of Lolo on the NES so this was a treat. But despite my fond memories for the game and everything that I love about it...Kirby's Adventure for the NES would get my recommendation over Dream Land. I played KDL for the first time a few years ago and even then I thought that it was a gorgeous game. Hey, and Kirby gains his iconic copy ability too!
  5. 18,920 Hope to improve this before Sunday.
  6. With the enemy movement you mean? My ongoing struggle: I figure out what I need to do in order to solve the puzzle! ...annnnd then I accidentally crush a crucial boulder meatball, and have to restart.
  7. 872,800 [637,500+235,300] Welp. This is the best that I've been able to do. Losing a ship is bruuuuutal. I had never played (or heard of this) one before, so it was nice to try something new.
  8. Thanks! Some favorites of mine include Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VI, Act Raiser, Combatribes, Final Fight 3, Pocky & Rocky, SOS, Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts, Turtles in Time, Super Mario World, StarFox, and X-Men Mutant Apocalypse.
  9. Hey everyone! I heard this forum mentioned on the DrunkFriend podcast a few times, so I decided to stop by and check it out. And I'm glad that I did! I've been lurking for about a week and it seems like a really cool place. The weekly contests and the "beat every game" events seem like fun ways to revisit some favorites and discover some great games that I missed. I've been collecting SNES games for a few years but I haven't really been taking it too seriously. I have a little under 250 games currently in my collection, and it's slow-growing with prices the way that they are. I love beat 'em ups, JRPGS (when I have the time...), and really anything that's has some quirkiness to it (I love me some weird games). Okay, that's enough about me for now—it's nice to be here!
