  1. Wifey and I finished this.

First, it's too long, could have been 5 episodes. That said, quite well done overall. That said, apparently it's way too Jordan focused and does not portray things correctly, at least according to people such as Scottie Pippen --

"One of the most ignorant a** sh*t": Scottie Pippen's statement on 'The Last Dance' and Michael Jordan has Stephen A. Smith going nuts

Well, ultimately I've always been more interested in College sports than pro, but it was an interesting although biased (by for Jordan) and far too-long documentary.

Overall it's always felt like such a waste to have so many separate releases for old roms that take up almost no space at all. Why not put Felix the Cat and Rocket Knight on one release? At least with Evercade or the Atari or Taito collections you get a bunch of games in one.

For the most part I feel the same way. But, I'm going to get it for the 2-disc soundtrack, I love me classic video game soundtracks 🙂

  3. 'It's the wrong house': Audio of Ohio police raid that left a baby injured raises new questions

The mayor of Elyria, Ohio, has ordered an investigation after a woman alleged that police officers who raided her home had the wrong address and deployed flash-bang devices that sent her 1-year-old to the hospital with burns.

The search warrant was for the Parmely Avenue residence, but was issued for a person who hasn’t lived there in over a year, Price said, sharing the search warrant left by police at the home...At 3 p.m., the Ring camera records several voices that appear to be of the police. Then a man's voice says, "Woah, it's the wrong house."

Fortunately, the Elyria police department later apologized for their blunder, and offered the mother and child full restitution, and have taken steps to make sure this never happens again... haha! you don't really believe me did you? NOPE -- the police have done nothing they should. They're not taking responsibility for anything, and have even posted some BS excuses on facebook --

I’m probably in the minority on this topic especially given this is a video game forum but seriously

who give a flying ass about this guy and his bullshit. Scores fake or real don’t care lmao

Well, he became notorious after King of Kong and people love to hate him. I think the truth is probably somewhere in between -- he's not evil, but he's manipulative and egotistical.

I had a poison run where I died and the poison stack was like 250+ on the heart and just needed to live for one more turn.  I was pissed 😆

That summarizes why I dislike the game... well "dislike" is perhaps too strong a word. Why I no longer play the game at any rate. Going into the 4th act you need luck, no amount of skill will make up for a poor hand. I remember once fighting the heart I got all blocks when I need to attack, and of course when I needed block I had nothing. It was a completely ridiculous draw, but that's RNG for you. There are so many better games to play that do not rely on RNG, or even those that do rely on some RNG (Darkest Dungeon), are done much better.

Then the 3 ET games were a bundle on eBay that was listed for $49.95, I offered $40 and the seller accepted. They look like interesting obscure games, and one of these games is kind of hard to find. Also it's crazy that NewKidCo churned out 5 games with the ET license.

    Speaking of ET --

Definitely can't say the box is perfect, but then again, I heard that shrink wrapped copies of the game are somewhat rare and I always wanted a copy of "the worst video game" 🙂

    How are you liking it?

I made it to the heart with all four characters. Afterwards is when the game really starts. Many people have claimed it's brilliant, I disagree. First few hours, getting to the heart and unlocking new cards is very cool and fun. Afterwards, to actually complete the game, I realize it's really depending on the RNG. I hate games that depend on the RNG. I was wondering if perhaps it's just me, but nope. Even people that loved the game said you basically have to be a "god" by the time you get to the heart and it may take you a hundred tries before you beat it. Fuck that. It quickly went from a favorite to a "this is boring repetitive shite" quickly. Sadly, I do not recommend it, but again, just my opinion (after spending many hours on it).

You know, I've been waiting for the other shoe to drop. The initial vibe the game gives off is very much that Souls aesthetic, even down to some systems like parrying, rechargeable health potions, etc. Granted, I'm only in the opening area but so far I was surprised that I've not been beaten over the head with Souls-like difficulty yet. There was that opening boss fight, which seemed to be made to look impressive and intimidating but was kind of laughable. The first few enemy types have been similarly simple to dispatch. So yeah, I was (and I guess still am) expecting to be annoyed by difficulty at any moment...but that moment hasn't yet come. We shall see. We shall see.

As for the Souls-like "mopey gothic" thing...that's honestly one of the elements that has limited the appeal of the proper souls series for me. Again, I love horror, gothic architecture, blood 'n guts, mythical monsters and all that stuff...but I don't think it's too much to ask that such games mix it up with a little "fun" from time to time. The game doesn't have to be that emo, Marilyn Manson fanatic with a pentagram pendant and black nail polish you knew from high school 100% of the time. 😉

I really enjoyed Blasphemous! About the only thing I actually did not like is the "secret" ending they added. The game originally had two endings, and the "good" of the two endings I thought was perfect. The new "secret" or whatever ending I thought ruined much of the mystery and lore of the game.

I'm playing Might and Magic on NES. This would be such a cool open world RPG if it wasn't such a pain in the ass. There's so much instant death and so many sluggish battles with no rewards (20 enemy random battles, wtf). There's a lot of old-school obscure BS and quests to figure out, but the awful combat makes it so not worth it.

Yeah, random battles are the bane of old skool games. I remember playing Shining in the Darkness on the Genesis -- fabulous dungeon crawler -- apart from the random encounters. I remember at one point I made far into one of the higher level areas, and all of a sudden I had a random encounter, enemies went first, they cast some bullshite spell that instantly wiped out my part -- GAME OVER -- WTF

Well the Toplan Tiger shmup series is the first LRG title to catch my eye in over a year.

From pre-order to delivery, what are their turn around times like now? Back in the COVID days it was about one year.  Is it still the same?

A big part of the wait time seems to be if you order the "regular" vs collector's edition. It seems like the extras for the collector's editions take far longer to produce than the actual game itself. Also, LRG will not ship any part of your order until everything is complete. So, even if say 4 out of 5 of your games are ready, they will wait however long until all of them are ready to go.

  11. So, I assume a game such as Kudzu is considered "homebrew"? Although it's an official commercial release it's not licensed by Nintendo for the Gameboy, and of course Nintendo is no longer licensing any games for the Gameboy... so be default any NES, SNES, Gameboy, other-retro-system is a "homebrew" unless it's a re-release?

Also, are there any good sites for homebrew reviews? They're really quite scare, which is a shame.

I doubt each of those steps individually. (unfortunately)

On a tangent, I don't think the "another... appeal to conservatives" strategy is a good one. Watch out for the ratchet effect.

I hear what you're saying, but I would vote for just about anyone or anything over Trump.

Lol I just checked and I'd not have even seen that one cuz they don't ship to Canada. My life in a nutshell, man.

I totally blame ebay. Their domestic (USA) policy is a seller can refuse to accept returns. Of course, if the item arrives damaged, etc. the buyer can file a claim. However, intentionally, a seller from the USA automatically has to accept a return regardless the reason. Hence, tons of sellers have stopped shipping outside the USA 😕
