The whole genre of late 80s dance pop is a 6/10 for the most part. It's all far from the worst music ever made and tends to be really fun background music for work.

Even Flow is great. Black Hole Sun is fucking epic!

Playing Ni-No-Kuni for PS3. The plot and presentation is absolutely gripping, animation is gorgeous. My gripe right now is that it is tutorial overload. I swear that an hour into the game, I've done more tutorials than actual gameplay. And it's not just finer points of a fame's gimmick or combat, either. Drippy, my companion character, litterally told me "see that green number? That's your hit points. Run out of those and you can't go on!" Like omg, I think everyone who plays this game is aware of what Hit Points are and what they do before ever pressing the power button!
I'm pretty excited to get into the meat of the game. Been sitting on my backlog for years!

Alright then. Here we go @Reed Rothchild.
...
Your studio ghibli thread inspired me to knock a game off my backlog! I'll get to AC someday...

I think there's a thread for that
We saw how successful I was the one year I tried!

Somewhere around 5-600 games. I mostly hunt down fun looking games I intend to actually play and hopefully enjoy. Mostly JRPGs, action/platformers, party style games, fighting games, and puzzlers. I also hunt down nintendo published titles, but who doesn't these days? Mostly GameCube, Wii, Wii-U, PS3, and PS2, with a smattering of other systems mixed in. I have a very small handful of carts. Most cart games I stream on Switch Online or I play on various compilation disks or emulate.

Always wanted to try an Assassin's Creed game. Someday I'll actually tackle my backlog...

Only seen spirited away, which was recently. Watching more ghibli movies has been on my list since. It really touched me.

7/10 and 5/10 respectfully. "Stay" seems like one of those songs that might hit someone right in the feels, but to me it just sounds like a typical stripped down 80s pop ballad. I may or may not skip if it came on my pandora.

Trump wins NH, Nicky Haley made noise in the liberal areas as expected. Trump won Laconia, which is my town, though he did have a rally here last night, which didn't make the town as crazy as expected. Saw quite a few Mass plates leaving the rally, I expect many people traveled to it. Locally I know Nicky Haley rubbed people e the wrong way. One of her staffers placed a huge sign right in front of the sign of the restaurant I work at. It irked a few people (myself included) that he would do that. This is one of the larger businesses in Laconia, mind you to do that to. The kind of thing that would get the whole town talking. So there's that.
I'm optimistic by the results that close to 45% republican voters (no cross party voting in NH) are going to Haley as of now. Many I expect to vote Biden in the general election which bodes well for a largely purple state. Our Gov Sununu was a major backer, so we shall see how much momentum she has with a relatively stronger that expected showing.

Pokemon XD for GC
Full disclaimer I have never played a traditional pokemon game before.
This is a fun little romp so far. The story is easy to follow and feels like your typical over the top "save the world" jrpg while staying very lighthearted and cute, much like the cartoon. The story moves like a typical fetch quest, but without modern conveniences like reminders, so it's easy to forget what you were supposed to be doing after a couple days. It's not blowing me away, but it's good kid bonding since my daughter is coaching me on what moves are worth doing and keeping. She's the pokemon expert, not me!

Love Mastodon, but they ran into a freight train here.

This is like collecting dirt. What's the point?
Oh people out there love collecting dirt too!
Seriously though, after this thread, I asked my middle school aged daughter if Stanley Cups are indeed popular at her school(she goes to a rural middle school). She tells me yes they are. Fortunately she does not want one. Though if there was a Nintendo collaboration with images of Kirby...

6/10. Fine song, but product of its time.

I know there is a lot of moments to choose from the Dynasty. The best dynasty in the history of the sport, but the empire finally went out with a whimper. There are countless moments I had opportunities to witness sheer greatness in the sport, much to the envy of so many I have come across. But they always had the one up I could never get past. I always would get reminded of 18-1. For nearly a decade those words hurt to hear, even though no matter where I went and lived, New England was always better than the local team. South FL? Iowa? Central VA? Anytime the question would come up at a new job, I replied with a non answer. "Do you watch NFL? Who is your team?" "I'm from New England". I was an apologist and forceful every time. No need to talk shit to me. I'm sorry. My team is better than yours. I have Tom Brady on my team. I have Bill on the sidelines. Miami fans? Bears fans? Redskins fans? Steelers fans(surprising Steelers fan base out in Central VA) well, okay. We respect another because your team is good too. Still, 18-1 was hard to hear. Then this happened.
The legion of BOOM disintegrated. Many people point to the miracle INT, but Butler read the play. Even moreso than the "28-3" that would occur two years later, the 4th quarter of this game is the best quarter of football a team has ever played. The defense turned into legends and needed to be defeated by a miracle. And that miracle occurred when Butler broke up a downfield pass that miraculously carried into Kearse's lap who was laying in the ground a couple yards away. Here we go again! And even before that, Tom Brady and the offense just started dissecting the so called "Legion of Boom" He figured them out and marched down field for consecutive scores to steal the lead from the "Best Defense Ever Assembled".
One must remember, even after the infamous pass play, the so called Legion of Boom had two more opportunities with NE on the half yard line to make something happen. Anything. What happens? Brady draws them off sides. He blew out the candles on them and made them look like a bunch of amateurs. 18-1 is now an irrelevant comment with a 4th ring!
So cheers to Bill for being architect of the team that made that most amazing moment of greatness. It won't be forgotten.

My wife has told me about these too. She likes them but thinks people are crazy to pay the prices they do for them. I can see why those would be cute and desirable. They aren’t worth the price but at least their are more than just a painted cup.
I see the cups as a cute accessory like the backpacks. Make some colors rare and that collector impulse takes over. It wouldn't surprise me if my kids start badgering me for their own stanley. To that end I remind them how many .99 water bottles we have replaced!

Loungefly mini backpacks are another hot commodity. I had a coworker get real bummed when she missed out on a very limited edition disney one. She actually has a pretty sizable collection of valuable ones.

Welp. All I can say is I'll be on the lookout for vintage Stanley's when treasure hunting at thrift stores.

So I'm looking at this month like I am designing a menu for a fast food restaurant rather than doing a copycat of a menu item that already exists. We can call my fantasy fast food restaurant "VGSandwiches!" I'm going for fried chicken sandwiches. @T-Pac, want to design a logo of the sage eating a chicken sandwich?
First the base chicken sandwich...
We call this the "Basic Platformer". Fried chicken, lettuce, and mayo.
Then we have the "deluxe" version with mixed cheese and bacon
We can call this the "Shmup". The tag line for this upsell is "Or Fly High With A SHMUP".
Then we have some variants:
"Flamin' Shmup" Shmup with blue cheese, Buffalo sauce, and jalapeños.
Then the "Southern Shmup" with pickles and Carolina Gold sauce.
I'm working on chicken nuggets cut into cubes called Chicken Pixels. I would need to use panko crumbs and deep fry from an IQF state(individually quick frozen). Fries are a work in progress also. Fries would need to be a signature item and stand out from your basic fast food fry, but still be very good. My first instinct is peppered shoestring fries and call them "Bullethell fries"

How Do You Prefer Your Meat? (with or without bones)
in Everything Else
Posted
Meat cooked bone in and removed after. Chicken thigh meat makes excellent pulled chicken especially when cooked bone in for example. Or pulled pork made with a bone in pork shoulder compared to boneless cuts like pork butt.
Now I want some BBQ.
