  1. It's getting serious in here,  lol. I can only add that when I had time to play games, I had no money. Inexpensive Repros would have been a good option if retro games were this expensive at that point in my life.

Now I have more money and no time, so one game for $300 isn't the end of the world because I have the cash and it will take months to get to it. Seeing it on the shelf is enjoyable.

I think most people buying repros just want to play the one or two games and have an object to display.  It's not that big of a deal.

  2. Anyone else have an issue finding og xbox games in decent condition.  It seems like every xbox game I find is grimy or sun faded as hell.  If I stumble on a used game store that actually has a good selection in decent shape, I just pay the premium at this point.

It'd be better if they had a book with just the good games. They could probably get that to work in a pocket book.

I bought this because I do plan to collect these games in a couple years when ps4 bottoms out. There will definitely be a handful that hold value but I'm betting most limited run ps4 games will be reasonable for a while when ps4 gets dirt cheap.

  4. Whenever I think about this, I think about old monster movies from the 1930s.  People still consume them.  You can buy large sets of brand new prints on blue ray for a reasonable price. No one expects you to hunt down original movie theater reels to get an authentic experience.

Old games like NES will get repackaged over and over for years into the future on new mediums (consoles, fpga, emulator).  30 years from now, NES games will serve a similar purpose.  Something interesting,  classic, and different for an evening.

Except for a few exceptions, it will not be very collectible.

  5. To be honest I use the term upscale loosely.  I just couldn't get past the fact that some sections in games are so dark the game is unplayable unless you crank the brightness on your TV.  I rank these cables as "better then not playing the game at all".  The ossc on the other hand let's you actually play the game closer to the original look.  Granted, if you're just wanting to play an og xbox for a bit without hard nostalgia googles on, it's a good value proposition over the ossc cost.

  6. Started bio mutant on the series x today.  Gameplay is ok, I'm not sure on this one but I'm going to play for a bit instead of giving into the negativity around it.

Also,  finished COD cold war campaign last weekend.  It's short with lots of scripted scenes but it was so much fun for a weekend.  The action is on point.

Whatever.  Hammerfestus is right.  This tired line of circular whining of the end of days of bootleg copies has gone on since I remember popping up on NintendoAge over a decade ago and the same trail of paranoia and misinformation hasn't changed really much at all.  Still waiting for the sky to fall in on itself.

Minding other peoples business is not our business.  We're not the guardians of the video game verse.  We're not the gatekeepers of the video gaming guardian of forever either.

Every thing from coins, comics, stamps and the rest have had their waves of paranoid armchair policemen, and perhaps still do in some places, but most have moved on as they've been at it far longer and it's down to personal responsibility with information, learning, and dealing with the consequences.  People are going to get what they want, do what they want, and complaining for another decade isn't going to change it a bit.

This.  People like having physical items and playing on original hardware. 99% of people they show their game collection to won't know the difference, so they buy what's in their budget and can enjoy.

Also,  nothing wrong with collecting ps2 and newer. Lots of great games. I honestly find myself collecting retro games and generally playing modern stuff. It's just more fun.

  8. How do you guys feel about buying games cib from a reseller and receiving your game in an obvious translucent green repro box.

I feel like I'm going to have to buy big lots of garbage games just to get original cases for a chunk of my collection.   It's kind of annoying.

Doesn't really count as cib to me but maybe I'm being a bit ocd about my $5 used game purchases..... 🤔

  9. I'm still playing the first one. It's amazing and has some beautiful large set piece action sequences. I'm stuck on one right now and took a break but need to get back to it.  Some of those moments are like a cross between puzzle platformer and vertical shooter while the landscape is being destroyed around you.  It's pretty cool.

  10. Finished gears of war ultimate edition with a friend Thursday night.  Tonight,  I played a couple of og xbox games. 50 cent bulletproof and midnight club racing dub edition. Both give you that early 2000's Hollywood thug vibe, lol.
